Also called Midheaven, Medium Coeli, and otherwise known as the 10th House.

Oops.. I'm sorry, I meant IC, not MC. D'oh, I'm always getting them mixed up! *blush* But it's interesting to hear that MC might be indicative of one's childhood as well.

Anyway, I thought IC might have something to do with one's childhood since it's supposed to signify your roots.

"Imum Coeli
Situated on the cusp of the Fourth House (6 o'clock position), the House of Home and Family, the Imum Coeli (or I.C. for short) is the point of the Zodiac at which issues of security and foundation converge. The Sign that rests at the Imum Coeli in your astrological chart, then, reflects your approach to attaining security. If planets come near this angle in an astrological chart, efforts of those planets are concentrated on sustenance and comfort. A very private point in a chart, the efforts made on behalf of the planets near the I.C. may be unfairly ignored. For example, if the Moon falls near the I.C. in someone's chart, they seek emotional connections through their family relationships."

"4th HOUSE
The fourth house describes your residence, domestic environment, and family members, especially your mother. It indicates the beginning as well as the end of various cycles in your life."

"The Fourth House begins at the point of midnight. For this reason it is assigned to all endings, to old age, and to old people. It also influences the home life into which we are born, i.e., the home life created either by the parents or, in certain instances, the foster parents or communal life of an institution."

"The Fourth House
Cancer and the Moon Keywords: Home, domestic life, mother
The fourth house is where we send down roots, find our limits, and generally secure ourselves. It is the end of any searching we might have done in the third house. Here we find or end our search, settle down, and manage to get in possession of the whole situation. This is our home and the base from which we can work, feel, and experience. This is the root of our experience, the core or thick of it."

Hi Laleyla,

I think you're talking about a semisquare, it's 45° and considered disharmonious. If you have a mystic rectangle with this aspect, then it's not a mystic rectangle, becuase the aspect between these two planets would have to be a sextile (60°). I have a mystic rectangle in my chart, as well.

I have a question about family life and the MC. I'm a 10th house leo, and yes, dad's a leo (7 planet stellium leo!!), but I have Venus conjunct my MC, squaring both my libra AC (with a conj. Uranus)and my DC (with a loose moon conjunction)in Taurus. I would be interested on your guys take on this.

I'm just starting to delve into the depths of family energy in horoscopes. I just recently did my siblings (I have three) horoscopes, and I'm so amazed at what I found.

My mom is gem, scorp rising, virgo moon.
My dad is leo, libra rising, aries moon.
I'm a gem, libra rising, taurs moon.
Bro Nr. 1 is a sag, sag rising, scorp moon.
Bro Nr. 2 is libra, sag rising, sag moon.
Sis is pisces (on the cust 0°07), aries moon, taurus rising.

Mom has saturn sq. mars.
Dad has saturn sq. mars.
I have saturn sq. mars.

None of us kids have anything NEAR the 3rd and 4th houses, absolutely no focus there, but lots of focus at the MC. Bro Nr. 1 has Pluto conj MC, Bro Nr. 2 has Saturn conj., Sis has nothing conj, I have Venus conj. My father's leo stellium is 10th house.

My sister and I were both abused as kids, she by my grandfather and I by a babysitter. So this thread is interesting to me, I've been looking for the link, too. Sis has virgo mars opp pisces sun! Also a cappy MC, does that have anything to do with anything? I have saturn sq. mars/jupiter, and mars opp. pluto, making up one opposition of the mystic rectangle. I have a cappy third house and feel that is very correct, I am the oldest and was required to be responsible very young. My sister has a gemini third house. She told our parents about the abuse, I never have. Interesting, eh!

Nope, this shape is absolutly a perfect rectangle. made up of two lesser squares, two semi squares, with two oppositions in the middle.

It would be nice were it made up of positive aspects- however- if anybody has been able to gain from a bad situation, find the silver lining on a dark cloud, and draw deeper wisdom from suffering, then it is me.

So I understand it. The strength I have managed to find coming from a bad background.
