I'm posting some excerpts from a long article I found on Chiron and it's influence in the natal chart. This is some of the best information I have come across on the subject. I've noticed there is not alot of talk on Chiron here, probably because it's hard to find good information on it. It has an important role to play in our charts and should be looked at a little closer.

I have Chiron conjunct Mercury natally, placed in Mercury's natural third house. Chiron is also known as "The Wounded Healer". "Chiron in the chart often reveals wounds resulting from traumas that we have received in the very early stages of life." It's placement also shows where you feel compassion and can help in healing and assiting others.

I find my placement of Chiron interesting in that it is conj. Merc. in the 3rd house and I have been trained and attuned, to second degree Reiki. The third house is Gemini's natural house, and Mercury rules that sign. Gemini rules the hands and arms. And Reiki is about channeling healing energy which is released through the healer's hands. My natal Chiron is in the sign of Taurus, ruled by Venus. And my natal Venus, in Gemini, is in a mutual reception with Merc. in Taurus.

This is just one of the interesting observations I have made on my Chiron placement. I'd be interested to hear how others see Chiron effecting their own chart and how it plays out in their lives.

Chiron
by Kathie Garcia

Have you integrated Chiron into your astrological analysis? An increasing number of astrologers - among them such notables as Richard Nolle and Barbara Clow - are saying that without Chiron, no contemporary astrological reading is complete. Calling Chiron "The Quest Guide, The Initiator," and "the most mystical of all the planets," Nolle insists that Chiron is, in fact, the key to understanding the natal horoscope. Is Chiron the key, or is Chiron, rather, a sign of the times, the herald of a regenerative 21st century approach to astrological analysis and self-gnosis?

Chiron has been given the poignant title of "The Wounded Healer." In Greek Mythology, Chiron suffers a grievous, seemingly incurable wound which causes him constant pain. In his search for a solution, he acquires skills and compassion that assist him in the healing of others. The Wounded Healer is reminiscent of St. Paul who exorcised demons and became the instrument of healing, revelation and illumination to so many but who was never rid of the persistent "thorn in his side." Especially those in the healing and ministerial professions are painfully familiar with the conundrum of being the instrument of healing while the solution to their own dilemma eludes them. The humanness of those who facilitate our own quest for wholeness hopefully prevents us from idolizing and leaning too heavily upon them, for indeed, ultimately no outside agent can totally release us from pain. Many counselors initially seek training in response to a personal search for understanding and wholeness. Chiron's placement in the horoscope often pinpoints an area where we do for others what we would, but cannot do for ourselves. Significant transits, whether from the Outer Planets or from Chiron to the natal Chiron placement trigger important developments in our dharma, that special something we've come to give to others. Through this process, often the journey of lifetimes, we ultimately secure our own freedom and release from pain.

Chiron in the chart often reveals wounds resulting from traumas that we have received in the very early stages of life. Sometimes, however, the wound is very ancient, seemingly inexplicable in terms of one's experience but always central to psychological themes that are repetitive and chronic. Or an event of little outer consequence takes on an exaggerated meaning because it ties into an old soul issue, a leitmotif in the tapestry of lifetimes. The issue at hand is very intrinsic to the person's spiritual quest.

Chiron takes on greater significance for those who consciously take up the Path or who, at least, consciously are inspired by a sense of mission. Dreams and revelations, intuitive understanding and mystical experiences often relate to the Chironic theme. In Chiron, Nolle explains how Chiron by sign reveals the kind of mentor the native will seek and to whom he or she will best respond. For example, for the Chiron in Taurus native, a mentor would appear who placed some kind of value judgment on a phase of human experience. The Chiron in Taurus person would respond by trying to put into practice the mentor's values. A client with Chiron in Taurus conjoined the Moon in the 4th house became pregnant at age 19 when Saturn conjoined this position. Her spiritual values, and the values of her upbringing (4th house) would not allow her to abort, the more convenient surface choice. Aside from the responsibility she shouldered, this circumstance became the turning point in her Quest. In choosing not to abort, and to give up drinking and other elements of her college lifestyle, almost unknowingly she was beginning the quest described in her chart.

Interestingly, Chiron is credited with bringing to mankind the medicinal use of plants. Chiron is associated with the principle of homeopathic healing, where a malady is healed by minute proportions of the same disease. The disease is healed by its cause. In interpreting Chiron's meaning in the astrological chart, the client provides clues that form a story often described by repetitive events and wounds. The abandoned abandons, the rejected rejects, the wounded lover seeks lovers who are abusive. The wound reemerges to make sure it is not forgotten. Only courage (the aging or wisdom of the heart) strenghthens us to embrace what we most want to avoid. To grasp the Chironic principle, remember the wisdom of the common cliche, "no pain no gain".

Chiron has to do with the development of compassion, an aspect of love-wisdom. Part of the mystery of Chiron and of -it not gaping, then gnawing-wounds that defy healing may be to allow us to develop compassion for life, forgiveness of self and of others. Chiron was an immortal. Since he could not die nor heal his wound, he had no release from suffering. In his search for relief, he discovered how to help others. Chiron in the chart, somewhat similarly to Neptune, describes where we can best find assuage from chronic pain by bringing comfort to others. A client with Chiron square the Sun in the 7th house has helped countless couples through her counseling abilities but is bewildered by the imbalance of her own marriage which has caused her much grief and for which she constantly looks for resolutions.

Richard Nolle refers to Chiron's house position as the Chironian - the cave where he dwelt. Pain and frustration associated with the area of life described by the house often become the stage of our own healing and search described by aspects and highlighted by transits.

We reclaim our divine inheritance, not as victim to an arbitrary or karmatically cruel fate, but as co-creators of Cosmic reality. Consciousness, not events, determines the outcome of our destiny. Nolle insists that Chiron is the most mystical of planets. I do not totally agree. Rather, Chiron unlocks an adventure in this most mystical of times. As a result of this journey in consciousness, not only Chiron, but all the players in the chart as well as the intrinsic value of aspects take on new meaning.

Okaaaaay, yeeeeeessss, youre welcome.
Now, where are your Chiron's? It looks like the little 'key' symbol in your chart.

paras, I already know yours. It is in Aries in the 7th house. And conjunct Jupiter.

"This placement indicates some kind of wounding or rejection related to relationships. Because this person is sensitized to the emotions and reactions of others, they may be quite sensitive and even psychic. They definitely need to learn grounding principles, and need to demark strong boundaries between themselves and their loved ones to prevent or stop a cycle of codependency or abuse. Unfortunately, they tend to define themselves through others, through those they relate to, and they are often disappointed when others do not rise to their expectations. They may find art and past-life therapy to be helpful in their personal and spiritual growth."

"Chiron - Jupiter: Chiron together with Jupiter lends itself to creative abilities and these people do tend to have something of a "magic touch", especially those with strong contacts to Leo or the 5th house. Excellent teachers and healers, they are bright, lucky and talented when the two planets aspect in harmony, but when they are stressed, the native is often challenged by their own high expectations for themselves and others. Religious and spiritual intolerance can become a problem as they tend to see their own beliefs as "universal"."

It's also opposite your natal Mercury and Uranus in the first house. Interesting stuff.

I have Chiron in Aries-self reliant, very close to Venus, and I have been dealing with romantic separations all my life due to a loss of identity.

Chiron in the 4th deals with separating from the birth family, dealing with issues from childhood. My family was not close and I was the most headstrong child, so I learned to be self reliant, now in relationships I get anxious to be myself.

Often I feel unattracted to a mate if he reminds me of a man in my family. That means I am becoming the person in charge, seeing myself as a family member due to a loss of identity within my own family. Usually I will talk to my birth family a bit and the feelings and anxiety fade.

Family is an interesting concept, many people feel invaded by their parents and need to separate well after childhood. Others needed more love.

Chiron in the 7th says to me a big family where one feels lost, too much formality. Finding love.

Chiron in the 6th finds love through service, tried to find niche in family by being the reliable hard working one. Fixing others, healing becomes a focus in life.

My Chiron says to me, find your identity through travel and self expression, not through things handed down from childhood. Do not be afraid, face fears head on, and nurture dreams in others and self to survive. Movies, paintings, are a focus.

Chrion is good but astrologers are very SCARED to say things about parents that the client may or may not want to hear.

You will never hear

"Ummm, it looks your mother beat you, and you were starved as child, well, is this correct? Oh and your father was probably gay. Looks like he's dead, sorry was it something I said?"

Chiron is a tool, but who does it help? Maybe it's best to refer the client to a therapist if big issues are looking you in the face. That's what I tell myself anyway.

Actually, my Chiron lines right up with the general theme of my chart. I've got Pisces in the 10th, and maybe that's why I abhore being given money for doing something I love. Plus, I worry about the world, or the "state of" all the time. It's not a good place for financial organization at all, and helps me end one phase and begin another.

My Chriron, appropriately enough, is in Gemini, in Gemini's natural house - 3rd...
I'm not exactly sure where this puts me, aside from giving a stong urge to communicate and a general ingenuity.

What do you all know about how that would affect me?

I have Chiron in Gemini in the 9th house. That's Saggies house, I think.
What would be the significance of this since the signs are polar?
I have Uranus in Sag in Gem's 3rd house.

Scorpbaby, what do you think Chiron in the 3rd means to you? How are your relationships with your siblings? Do you get along better with the men in your family than the women? Did you feel a strong sense of self identity in your family?
Did you feel you were not encouraged to broaden your horizons, date, travel, educate yourself? Or the opposite?

Chiron was wise in the arts, teaching, healing, poetry, how has that manifested in your life?

I have chiron in the 9th house Gemini. Natasha, sorry my sentence wasn't too clear.
I was just wondering about this placement since the 9th house ruler is Saggi and the 2 signs are polar.
And then in the 3rd house, ruled by Gemini, I have Sagg uranus placement.

So would Chiron Gemini in the 9th be a tough placement?

Again, thanks for drawing my attention this. I found the aspect and sign/house articles you've quoted - both by Brandi Jasmine - and have added them to my store of astrological data. Good stuff!

Was also thinking... Linda Goodman described Vulcan as "the lame goddess", and Chiron is said to carry an "incurable wound". Could they be one and the same? Could Chiron be one of the two remaining "planets"? The true ruler of Virgo?

"Chiron in Gemini or the Third House -

A Gemini or third house placement of Chiron often signposts a deep wound of feeling somehow less intelligent, and feelings of being unable to communicate clearly or effectively with others may dominate your thoughts at times. You may have suffered communication problems as a child, making memories of your early schooling painful. You seem to strive to 'know' with ceaseless fervour. Something inside you is wishing to be heard and understood by others. With Chiron here, the mind can function quite naturally in an intuitive or associative manner - the childhood communication and learning 'problems' are often a mismatch of teaching methods to the student's needs.
Sit down and make a list of the areas in which you have great or deep knowledge. Do not accept 'I don't know' for an answer. Keep searching within, to find where your knowledge lies. Also, list those people from whom you learn. How does your knowledge in any given area serve others?

The Gift of Chiron in this placement is the deep pursuit of knowledge and the ability to impart that wisdom to others. The acknowledgement of your own 'Knowing' lies in your heart, beyond words. Deeds communicate more."

"Chiron in the Ninth House -

Religion and philosophy and the feeling that you have no wisdom or deep understanding are Chironic themes here. There is usually a longing to apply what we feel as a deeply devotional sense or passionate zeal that can be easily misdirected, and this can create insecurity in our beliefs. There is the possibility that solace is found in travels to holy shrines, experiencing other cultures, their religions and mythology. Sometimes with this Chiron placement, there is difficulty in finding meaning in anything at all, and disillusionment and despair may set in.

List all of the ways in which you are wise and have deep understanding, and the ways in which others benefit from that wisdom. Open your heart and listen, they are there.
Chiron's gift here is in the discovery and acknowledgement of the great wisdom that lies within your heart. The realisation that adventure and joy of life is to be had, no matter where you are, or what you are doing. It is inside you, given to you by the Universe to share."

Mine is in Cancer, and in the first house. Which means it trines my Sun and Pluto, squares my Moon, opposes my Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto, and sextiles my Mars and Jupiter.

Where are you guys getting this stuff on Chiron? Hmm, I should probably google it, that would make sense, heh.

Hmm I can't really identify with the article on Chiron in the 9th. I've always felt I possessed a lot spiritual wisdom for my age. And I love philosophy especially. On the other hand, I do feel I'm on a quest to find spiritual truth.

Hi Everlong, you can find some info on Chiron under the Bob Marks astrologer site.

"Chiron in Aquarius

Placement of Chiron here often gives deep connection to the psyche and the collective unconscious, but there are usually blocks to overcome. Here the wound is usually a sense of disconnection, distance, isolation and alieation from the world and from the Universe. This feeling of being unable to fit in may make us reject the tenets of groups or society, but the longing to belong remains.

Often, due to the sensitivity to the collective, people with this Chiron placement will be forward thinking and may be rejected by groups and society simply because they are ahead of their time - shades of 'discovery' here.
Try listing the special ways in which you are connected to life, to others, to the world and to the Universe. List the benefits and gifts of feeling alone, isolated and alienated. Also list the ways in which your 'differentness' is a gift and blessing to you and others. Write your thoughts and dreams in a journal.

Chiron's special gift to you is the development of an objective and original viewpoint towards life, and the realisation of the interconnectedness of all things. The acknowledgement of your unique gifts and individuality. Your right to be you."

"Chiron in the 2nd house

With Chiron in this placement, values and security are prominent issues in your life. You may feel that you have never been given enough - materially, emotionally, mentally or spiritually. Ultimately, your heart may feel neglected and undernourished leading to poor self-esteem. You may over-compensate this inner wound by accruing money and possessions, or clinging to people in the hopes that they can provide you with that missing sense of security. With Chiron here, you may also mistrust your body, feeling that it will let you down, or you may perceive that your body is not beautiful.

There may be an injury or physical trauma that you find difficult to come to terms with, or you may have suffered pain through financial loss or financial insecurity.
Make a list of what you have received in your life, particularly from your parents and loved ones. Keep listing until you can acknowledge the abundance that the Universe has provided for you with sincere gratitude and love. Where you feel you have not been given your due, list the ways in which not receiving has helped you to acknowledge the true abundance that lies inside you - in your heart. Also, list out in two columns what you do and don't like about your body and for each list why. For each answer of 'why' look deeper and list the why of that, you will soon find that appearances are truly only skin deep -- your strength and beauty lie inside - -- in your heart.
The Gift of Chiron in Taurus or the 2nd house lies in the acknowledgement of the abundance of love that lies within your own heart................... the Universe provides. You were created in love to express love, and there is no end to that love."

Gloria, Chiron in the 10th can also mean childhood issues with father, authority in general or family, and it could mean a career in helping others with their past issues.

I still think you'd make a good therapist, Chiron in Pisces is self sacrificing.

Hey Natasha -

Thank you for that. Yup, I've been told many times I'd make a good therapist. In many ways I do (at least try) to connect with people and they usually open up really fast to me, even if it was not my intention. I've always had issues with father, he's a bit immature, and can be emotionally manipulative.

Most of the time, I think of my rebelliousness as a saving grace because it's given me the strength to stand up for what I FEEL and sometimes BELIEVE is right. Even if I didn't understand why.

Chiron in Pisces in the 10th is also probably a big reason why I cannot write without hoping I can teach and/or inspire.

Thanks again, very much.
