Chrissy -I noticed Noel Tyl has a couple of things written about the Quindeciles. I'll pull them up for you if you haven't seen them. But remember what I said, some astrologers have a completely different take on it.

sure, gloria, that'd be cool! i know that the meaning (and even definition!) of that aspect is sort of um, up in the air, kinda. it seems like older information on it points to 24° as being a quintitrine, or quindecile, and 165° is defined as being the undecasquisextile. since that book came out (the quindecile book) it's been redefined as 165°. i like everything the book says about the aspect itself (though i don't like the interps so much, they're very vague and formulaic), and i think it's an important aspect to consider, as important as some astrolgers say the quincunx is (both classified as minor, some would argue they ride the line between major and minor). so, sure, bring it on! c IP: Logged |

Thanks for those links AJ. I've have to take a look at them. Chrissy - yeah mutual reception is a biggie. It's like rulership or exaltation - it dignifies the planets involved, making them more influential overall. In action, it qualifies as "essential dignity" which is more influential than "accidental dignity," even though techincally speaking it's accidental (dignity by aspect - since it is so powerful, some astrolgoers nowdays simply call it an essential dignity). It is far more powerful that what classical astrology considered some of the lesser essential dignities, like triplicity, term and face (decan). Some astrologers think it's even more dignifying than exaltation. In Elliot's chart, his moon's very dignified: it's exalted, in mutual reception, and conjunct the ASC. But those aspects to both Mars and Pluto, and plus Saturnin the same sign and it being in the 12th house work against it in a big way. I've currently focusing on that issue. It's like his moon was so extraordinarily strong, it had to take a lot to bring it down, and unfortunately, he had a lot in his chart that potentially would. That reminds me, I need to check to see what may have been retrograde in his chart... IP: Logged |
