hey guys, i posted this on soul unions but i thought id cross post this here. it has some great info on south node connections.
http://www.starflash.com/zodiac/Nuances.htm

ya know, after reading it though i wondered just what the heck is a PNE point. i understand the explanation of what one is, but how do you find out how it relates to your own chart? i guess you'd need a really good ephemeris.

i looked at my composite with gordon after someone mentioned saturn-SN declinations. it's something i hadn't thought to check...and sure enough, saturn parallels SN in our composite. interesting! thanks to whoever mentioned that.

sincerely,
c

So you think there's something to Deliniations? Have you seen stuff on the Magi-society site?

oh, absolutely!

i found this blurb on cafeastrology's website:
http://www.cafeastrology.com/synastry_compatibility.html

"I read parallels in synastry as easy, natural, and spontaneous connections between the two energies represented by the planets involved. The interplay is usually easier than the conjunction, and the affinity is spontaneous. I have also found that Saturn parallels to personal planets are a little easier than the conjunctions in synastry. The Saturn person is not as inclined to criticism or control as is often the case when it is an interaspect in synastry. The stabilizing influence of Saturn is more prominent. When the planets involved are yin and yang (such as Sun with Moon, Moon with Mars, Venus with Mars), we have some wonderful connections."

charles jayne said, “There are three ways in which planets in a horoscope are related to each other. This is vitally important since such relationships are the major source of the meaning of such a chart. They are related by aspects, by planetary pictures, and by parallels of declination.”

when it comes to declinations, you tend to get more cross aspects in synastry than by zodiac aspect. this is because there are 360 degrees of the zodiac yet the declination usually goes up to 24 degrees north and south of the celestial equator. (the sun never exceeds 23:27:05, or the tilt of the earth's axis.) there are extreme declinations, but when a planet shows up further away than 23:27:05, it is termed “out of bounds” -- a less common occurrence (for instance, my moon is at 27:42:37 S of the ecliptic).

you can see there are generally more chances for the major planets to match up by declination than by aspect, except that the orb is <1 degree and we only use parallel (conjunct) and contra-parallel (opposition).
for a quick review on the "anatomy and physiology" of declinations, click here:
http://karma.astrology.com/declinations.html?arrivalSA=1&cobrandRef=0 &arrival_freqCap=1&pba=adid=12471666

and also here:
http://www.solsticepoint.com/1declination.htm

usually planets connected by declination AUGMENT natal or synastric zodiac aspects between them, but not always. sometimes they work all on their own, as jayne said!

let me give you some examples from my own experience:

my venus is at 18 aquarius and my saturn is at 18 taurus. they square each other exactly. by declination, however, my venus is at 15 S and my saturn is at 15 N, and so they are contra-parallel each other which functions like an opposition. what i think this does for me is since my venus and saturn are linked by such a tight square, the declinational aspect just adds more tone and texture to the planets' interaction with each other, and it emphasizes it, too. my venus is VERY much linked to saturn in my chart.

another example: now my venus is at 18 aqua, and my pluto is at 28 virgo, and so they are not linked by longitudinal aspect. however, the declination of my pluto happens to be at 15 N, so my venus and pluto are contra-parallel to each other. i would say that i have the qualities of a venus-pluto opposition natally...passionate, sexual, intense encounters intrigue me. there's a scorpio-like quality to the associations i seek out. it's probably just another reason (there are other indications in my chart) that i always seek out those with strong scorpio in their charts to become involved with, even though i myself have nothing but a couple of arabic parts and the anti-vertex in scorpio.

in synastry, my friend and love interest gordon has mercury in 22 virgo, and i have mercury in 11 aries, so they are not connected by aspect at all...but by declination they are 5 minutes apart! when we are together it’s yak yak yak and we DO understand what we are saying to each other, often before we even get it out...there are never any pauses or gaps (or room for others when we are together)!

another example, gordon's venus is at 12 scorpio and my jupiter is at 6 sagittarius, so they do not aspect each other but by declination they are parallel. i definitely feel as if we have a venus-jupiter conjunction (jupiter is very important in my chart, it's stationary and it is the dispositor of my sun and moon; venus in his chart is pretty important, as it is conjunct his ascendant by 2° from the 12th house). we have fun together, and i want to help him and be there for him. we have a strong appreciation of the same social values.

yet another example, my venus at 18 aqua squares his uranus at 13 scorpio, but by declination they are parallel. sometimes it seems more like the square and sometimes more like the conjunction. always, it is intense, surprising, exhilarating, and disruptive. this is probably one of the reasons there are lots of separations. (in addition, we both have uranus rising so in the composite uranus is exactly conjunct the ascendant, too, so that is another contributing factor, maybe the main one, to the periodic separations between us.)

when a synastry contact has both aspect and declination contact, it DOUBLES the connection. you would read the aspect, and also the parallel or contra-parallel too. it would work both ways. it INCREASES the energy and our receptivity to it.

anyways, have fun with the declinations! we should maybe start another thread on this and paste the above info, inviting other people to share their experiences with declinations.

Definitely. Spot on! I had a very brief fling with a guy a few years ago; it felt "fated", I could quite literally hear what he was thinking and feel what he was feeling, and I knew that he was crazy about me - his "perfect woman" - and would ask me to marry him within a few months if we carried on seeing each other. But I felt trapped and claustrophobic at the thought; I felt that it would be like marrying the whole of my family combined (when I'd spent most of my life trying to put some distance between me and them!) and I ran. When I did a chart comparison I found that his neptune was conjunct my sun (dodgy, in my experience - too much romantic fantasy for me!) and our nodes were in opposition - his south node conjuncting my sun and mercury and my south node conjuncting his ascendant. There were other aspects which indicated a passionate but stormy relationship (lots of Aries-Libra oppositions and a couple of heavy Pluto squares and oppositions for good measure) but I wondered where the heavy "-uh-oh, I've been here before" feeling came from. Now I know! Thanks!!!!

How about NN out of orb conjunct SN of other person... so each NN's are in opposition?

Would this hold them back, pull them back? or help them evolve?

i think it would keep them bound, and in this lifetime as reflected by the signs and houses and any planets and aspects.

NN conj SN:

quote:
This best/worst tendency is shown between her natal chart and that of Brad Pitt with their NN-SN ‘flip’…his Gem North Node conjoins her South Node 00Gem53…which is another way of saying that they bring out either the best in each other, or the worst. So far, it seems to be ‘the best’ for them both.

There's also something here:

But I can't view the page because I'm not a member of the webpage.

I'm in a new relationship, and the biggest draw for me was that 'comfortable' feeling around him...he flew out, and BAM, we're a couple! I knew from the get-go this was a karmic relationship - I experienced an intense period of past life views in dreams, and am 'making ammends' for being a rather selfish and self serving male in a number of past lives! My Aries was a past female lover, and now I'm here for him.
Even when I was questioning it in the first month, I couldn't leave it! The karmic push/pull is pretty strong.

My SN conjuncts his Venus in my 2nd house, his 3rd house.

I can also add that South Node connections are pretty strong. Until now i experienced it two times, and ya, familiarity and fatedness are the key words for sure.

With someone special its his Sun and Mercury whihc conjunct my South Node, and we have an unexplicably strong connection ...sometimes its even too strong for both of us.

I also met someone whose Venus was exactly conjunct my South Node, but it was pretty onesided i guess, (or he just hided his feelings very well)...anyway, now he just looks through me as if he would never know me at all.

I heard that its the South Node person who represents the karma for the other (dont know if its really true) but could be one reason why these guys wanna run from me after some time...

Hmmmm, with my SN conj. his Venus, it was him that really fell hard and fast first...and I'm still working on it! Sometimes I think I'm falling in love with the idea of someone who is so in love with ME! But then again, he's Aries, with Aries in Venus, and Sag Mars. LOTS of fire, and he does everything fast...although in the past, his Taurus moon was more cautious. I have Sag moon, so my moon is loving it! My Taurus Mars and his moon make quite a connection too, as has been mentioned already.

My aqua Venus is kind of out of the loop on this one, but considering the trouble she makes me (12th house) I think it's a relief!! Mind games, I tell you, mind games!

Saturn opposition Node seems to be very iron clad type of connection, if you don't feel romantic inclinations towards someone you have this with PLEASE avoid getting deeply involved, or you will probably be miserable(personal experience)...Venus opposition Node is a strong attraction but fleeting though unfortunately...

Librachoice,

there`s definitely a truth in what you said about the SN-Saturn-connection.

I have that with a celebrity; my Saturn conjunct his SN (0°), his Saturn widely conjunct my SN (5°), his Venus conjunct my NN (3°) and his ASC conjunct my NN (0°).

'And yes he is a celebrity, no I don`t know him personally, and yet it feels like I should never have gone near his films in the first place.
On a celebrity-fan level it is really working like glue. I feel the compulsion to watch every film he ever did, even though he is not shining in ALL of them.
I couldn´t even say if I like him or not, but I know that I will keep on watching his films in the future, heck I will even be going to see him on stage next year. *sighs* This bloody SN-Saturn-connection, it kinda takes away the concept of free will.

My SN is conjunct a guy's Sun
My NN is conjunct his moon
My NN is square his Jupiter

His NN is trine my moon and Jupiter!

From the first time we saw I had this "haven't we met before?" feeling !!! We somehow couldn't take our eyes off each other, even during our lessons! The funny thing is that whenever I turned to look what he was doing, he looked my way at that very moment! And the opposite !
Does anyone know anything on these aspects?

Oh No! My partner's Saturn is conjunct my SN, and I do feel quite controlled most, no actually, ALL of the time.

libraschoice7 - I actually tried to get away from this person and they were soooo persistent - we ended up together.

Overall, my partner's Saturn on my SN ought to really suit me with having a Libran SN (leaving everything up to a partner to do while I kick back and enjoy my hobbies like Lindaland ).

There are times when I keep reminding my partner not to be so stern, controlling and austere - so Saturnian, lol..!!
