Sorry to be a wet blanket, i just feel extremley strongly about any kind of generalizations whether or not they turn out to be true, that's where predjudice begins. Even the most innocent comments can be dangerous.Just keep in mind there are no absolutes in life. okies Suzyque I agree. I don't like generalizations either.. It's like people forgetting that we ARE all people not signs and we each have our own individual personalities..But in this thread, its really just for fun. I don't see why it'd bother anyone. I have been thinking about why this subject has bothered me so much and i realized it is because i am ultra sensitive to anyone making fun of other people even if it is all in fun. I was picked on unbearably in middle school and i has really left a scar, so if i am harsh in my responses sometimes it is usually because something someone has said has triggered that memory. I know i am making a big deal about this thread but you know what all i want is for people to understand what it is i am trying to say. Everyone responds differently to similar situations. I am sorry that your experience hasn't given you the insight that it has given me on how to treat other people with respect. suzy i usually would totally agree with you, but here not a single person claimed that they felt their sun sign was wrongfully assaulted/insulted, and even you arent leveling that charge but only saying that generalizations, in general, are not ok.... well isnt the entire sun signs book generalizations? but theyre not negative ones. linda makes really funny, sweet and kind comments about how every 'typical' sun sign can capitalize on his or her strengths and avoid the tendencies to certain weaknesses. nowhere does she say that because geminis for example *(using my own sun sign dont want to upset anyone)* can be liberal with other ppls checkbooks, that they're thieves or miser or selfish. she doesnt use judgemental words, she simply describes the behaviors that signs are prone to--and everyone is prone to different behaviors, both positive and negative. at the end of love signs she has these pages of famous people who were all the different signs. under each sign she has something 'generalized' and funny like, under Gemini it says,
"Your friendly car salesman". now i hate sales and could not convince an ape to eat a banana , but i thought that was funny, coz most Gems are thought of as being glib and talking up a storm and being able to convince ppl of stuff through that charm. etc etc. Unless we start posting after-sex comments by signs as in 'sun sign/ moon sign/venus sign/ mars sign' of course it will be a little general. and no body is saying this applies to all people in that sun sign. heck the things written for gemini, EVEN BY MYSELF, do not apply to me as a gemini. i have venus in aries and a stellium in scorpio. i am more likely to initiate sex with a man and then proceed to make all his unsaid fantasies true (lol), yes tmi but i was married so im allowed to say that u know i just think that if that sentiment was to be carried to all threads, all the astrology related threads would disappear , except maybe the

i would say it may be wise to stay away from censor free bulletin sites if you are in the least bit "offended" or tend to "internalize" what others say openly without restraint...your feelings may be unintentionally hurt due to the fact that people come to sites such as these (which are censor free) in order to voice their personal opinions, experiences and thoughts freely without reserve... thus if you become offended, or experience personal injury from these posts, i would recommend not reading. freedom of expression is a beautiful thing...
as well as knowing your limits when visiting open forums... sometimes abstinence is the only solution.
