I've read that Aquarius is ruled by Saturn. There was once a very close link to Capricorn with Aquarius in the 19th Century. It is said that Abraham Lincoln had more Capricorn traits than Aquarian. Myself, being a Sun Aquarian with the Sun in the 10th House, the House of Capricorn, feel more like a Capricorn than an Aquarian. I like to work, I care about my career and social standing. I am patient and I know that one has to wait to become what one wants to become. Does anyone know about the AQurius-Capicrn-Saturn link?

Well, yes, Saturn once ruled Aquarius, and Capricorn, but that was before Uranus was discovered. Once it was discovered, Aquarians seemed to take on, new, Uranian traits, therefore was declared ruled by Uranus. Do you know anything about the rest of your chart? You could have a Capricorn, ascendant, or Moon. The Sun in the tenth house also probably makes a big difference.

I have acctually read about some Aquarians still being ruled by Saturn. Like this thing I read about a subspecies of Virgos, who are acctually more Scorpionic.

Hey dodgers1955, I also have my Aqua Sun in the 10th house. I also feel like I'm ruled by Saturn-Uranus. Maybe you also have some planets in Capricorn like BoE said? How does your chart look?

Yo Dodge -

If nothing else, Linda G. mentions there (still) being "two types of Aquarians": those ruled by Saturn and those by Uranus.
(I feel compelled to mention that as this is lg.com.)

But, as Evermore said, your feelings also probably have quite a bit to do with your other chart placements.

proxieme,

In my opinion, the ruling of Saturn (structure) over Aquarius never fully went away...Aquarius just got a new friend called Uranus! ;-) The nature of Aquarius/Uranus/11th house (all these are inter-related) is that of REstructuring. So this energy TEARS DOWN existing structures and then attempts to put up NEW structures in the place of the old. If you want totally "dissolving" of structure...look to Pisces/Neptune/12th house!

Restructuring,

Tim

Tim - That actually makes a lot of sense (and I've not yet heard it approached quite that way).

yes Tim, that's an excellent way to formulate it! A few years ago I bought this very old book on Astrology- I think it was called "Horoscope Interpretations", I'm not sure. I remember reading about the shifting of paradigms that is accomplished by Aquarius- but it definitely didn't say anything about destruction of paradigms. And hey- Aquarians are often described as dogmatic which at first seems in contradiction to the Aquarian spirit, but is actually quite true in a sense. I guess that's why it's the 11th sign- like Tim said, only with the final sign do structures dissolve.

Saturn, Uranus, Aquarius all resonate with the color green (Uranus, saturated green).

reading the other replies I certainly believe there is a struggle between Uranus and Saturn. I have felt this struggle often if I start leaning towards to free spirited side of Aquarius I always get pulled back by Saturn.

I've read online that depending on day vs night birth, Saturn or Uranus rule Aquarius. Uranus governs day, Saturn night.

I may be inclined to agree with Linda as there being 2 types of Aquarians; those ruled by Saturn and those ruled by Uranus.

The Uranus ruled ones are strongly rebellious to social conventions,, eccentric and electrifying in essence.

There is something very crazy and chaotic about them that they can't help but stand out wiith either their style of dress, physical features or demeanor.

I was watching "Bronson" the other day with the amazing Tom Hardy. He had a very eccentric way of protraying whom is known as Britains most violent criminal.

Bronson has Sag Sun/Leo Moon,Venus in Libra and Mars in Aqua conjunct north node in Aqua.

Tom Hardys interpretation of Bronson was very Uranian: chaotic, eletric, defiant and even a little insane.

I Googled him to have a look at him and couldn't help but wonder if he has Aquarius rising too? Or atleast a heavy Uranus influence on his Asc?

I have a close friend with Cap Asc and Sun in Aqua/Venu and Mars. And he is NOT the eccentric, disruptive type as Uranus ruled Sun is said to be.

Even with Uranus on Moon,Mercury,Venus,Mars he is quite reserved and the only "eccentric" thing about him is his interest in science, technology and human evolution.

Saturn conserves and Uranus disrupts. Saturn crystallizes whilst Uranus electrifies. These are starkly differing energies ime.

There is however often some type of mental illness or probable inclination to visit mental institutions with Aqua(especially when Pisces is also in the mix).

Medication, psychiatric evaluation, personality disorders or challenges with mental stability are often rife with Aqua(Uranus) types.

I see Saturn types as the ones who arr often plagued by depressive thoughts and are more passive/subdued in their demeanor than outwardly wild or eccentric.

I can certainly see that some aquas are Saturn and others uranian. However, what if it's actually a seesaw that changes as you age?

I say this because I have Aqua rising. I'm quirky, for sure - I enjoy being different, I enjoy pushing boundaries, I love the weird in the world. And I attract a lot of uranus-ascendant people.

As I get older (one and a quarter Saturn returns, three jupiters and imminently a second nodal return), I'm accepting this a whole lot more.

But at the same time, I have a lot of Saturn. I see things with that heavy saturnian shadow, I was a very serious kid with huge self-esteem doubts and trust issues. I really struggled to challenge authority figures.

There's been a big difference, and I wonder if uranian aquas find some balance from Saturn as they grow older, like some of the eccentricity becomes more palatable.

It makes sense - the common thread between Uranus and Saturn is attitude to authority and boundaries. One respects and the other rebels.

Anyone else seen this seesaw shift as aquarians get older?
