I am aware that the Moon and Pluto are two very different forces and influences, and that "strengths" of each sign would thus be very different. However, I am allergic to these stereotyped strengths. I like to egg things on a bit, so I ask the question anyway in the contest of: pitted against each other, who is stronger?

Scorpio is mythologically and stereotypically a seemingly more feared symbol, but does astrology underestimate Cancer? Not a whole lot of good is written out there about either sign. Scorps are intense and obsessive, Crabs are weepy and spineless...

I agree with AcousticGod, it depends on what kind of strength you’re talking about. Surely physical strength does not depend on your sign. I’m assuming you mean inner strength? If so, then it would depend on the person…everyone is different with different life experiences.

Both my water babies have the ability to be strong in different ways. Whether or not they choose to be strong depends on them entirely.

However I do think Scorpio is stronger,,,because they come at a later stage in the wheel of astrology. In Linda Goodman's sun signs, cancer is "the infant" the stage where the soul is scared to grow up, caught between childhood memories, and moving on to the scary world of adulthood.

However the stage of the Scorpio, is when the soul is on a much deeper mission,,,mission to discover the spiritual through the eternal fusion (vibrating to the number 0 symbolizing serpent eating its own tail),,,,whether this eternal spiritual fusion is acheived through religion, creativity, love...or whatever each scorpio is set out to find it...and in that sense they're much more intense and spiritual than cancer,, which is why they're more powerful.

In fact, I don’t think Cancerians are one of the strongest in the Zodiac… Too moody, too oversensitive, too whiny… For me strong is someone who goes over difficulties in life, who is able to start from scratch with a smile no matter how painful the trial is… Cancerians grumble about past grievances too long after they lack importance… They are lovely creatures, don’t get me wrong… But not strong… A bit lunatic and obsesive about people’s intentions… Caring mothers of the world, too obsessed with protecting their “children” to be brave… They wear a crab shield to be protected… A very strong shield… That’s what is strong, not themselves…

My brother is a Cancerian… I love him to pieces… But I always had the impression that I’d have to protect him from the world… He is so sensitive, so weepy sometimes, such a darling… I wouldn’t relax and put my defenses down hoping my brother will protect me… He’s not that strong and some other would make him pieces… The same with my kid cousin and a dear friend of mine…

Scorps are different altogether… They are mistrusting and carry offenses a long way as well… What makes them strong is what they know… They are powerful within… They are invencible… They hide sensitive children within who crave love with desperation but outside they are warriors… Reckless warriors… They have always fascinated me… They never die, there is nothing you can do to make them sink, they soar higher, even with a tortured soul or a broken heart, they rise from the death… I would trust a Scorp with my life if I know they love me… They cope with suffering; even if they are falling into pieces be sure that they will get up…

Saying this, I wouldn’t underestimate Capricorns, who fight against their inadequacies and insecurities since they are born, achieving, always achieving… That’s admirable, honorable… They climb the highest peaks out of will… That’s true strength…

The same to Aries, the fearless knight of the Zodiac… They always push forward as if they weren’t even touched when they can be deadly wounded… They burn all energy that is needed… Sometimes you may think they don’t feel pain and that’s why they are so reckless, so pushy, so fearless, so brave…

Not trying to underestimate the Moon… But definitely, I think Pluto, Saturn and Mars, each one in its own way are far stronger… Far, far stronger…

Others are Leos, with their aristocratic grace, too proud to show weakness and too good-hearted to mistrust. Virgos, with their unbreakable convictions and pure inner strength hidden behind that decieving fragile appearance… Taurus, with their blind desire to protect, so steady no matter what… And Sagittarius, so trusting and unsuspecting, so whole hearted, that goes through life with no fear…

Every planet is in a certain sign in a chart.. and that planet expresses its energies through that sign. Every chart is different and the main focus of energy in a chart could be a completely different planet..not the sun

How could ppl possibly assess whether Cancers or Scorpios are stronger when:

1 Both inner and outter strength mean different things to different people relative to their own strength(physical) and their own set of principles.

2 Both Cancer and Scorpio are signs and can be found anywhere in a chart. So comparing a Cancer sun sign person to a Scorp sun sign person would be pretty useless..seeing as though the Cancer could have 6 Scorp planets and vice versa the Scorp could have 6 Cancer planets..or the Cancer could have an aries moon/mars/mercury, while the Scorp's whole chart is Gemini (the scorp may come accross as more witty, the cancer as more aggressive in that situation perhaps - which doesn't really mean anything because it still doesn't make one stronger than the other just different)

3 A chart doesn't define someone's complete personality

I believe there is some balance in this world and at the end of the day we all have faults in certain areas, we all have virtues in other areas.. there's no better or worse, stronger or weaker... I can't personally see it in those terms.

Cancer can be oversensitive and easily hurt, but that same sensitivity is also applied to the way they treat other people. I think that they are more in touch with their emotions than scorpio's are which to me is more important than being quote unquote tough.

Once a person realizes that Cancer is "Emotional Action" and Scorpio is "Emotional Security" the difference between Cancer and Scorpio's strength becomes clearer.

Cancer is strong in using their emotions to motivate them and get them going, and that is "strength" of a sort. The challenge of Cancer is in not confusing their emotional source with "action" itself. For emotional action is Cancer (emotion) modifying Mars (action) and this is Mars in fall (very challenging energy). How to do "emotional action without being OVERLY active is one of the mysteries of Cancer.

Scorpio is strong in using their emotions as way to protect them from the dangers in the outside world, and that is another sort of strength. The challenge of Scorpio is in not confusing "security" with "isolation". Scorpios who isolate their emotions from everyone and everything may feel more "secure" but still be VERY unhappy. How the Scorpio does "emotional security" without locking out their emotions entirely is one of the mysteries of Scorpio.

Not only is my little one a Cancer, my crush is a Cancer, and also a very special friend I have met through here is a Cancer,
(ahem, moonchild, sorry). Yes, they are highly aware of they're emotions, but weak, whiny, can't get over the past, omg, with the exception of my son, when I have a problem and need someone to talk to, I mostly go to one or the other for strength, and one of them uses the "FORGET THE PAST AND MOVE FORWARD" philosophy LoL. Yes, the big strong Leo has to run to the weak little Cancers for strength (GASP!)

BUT, since you mentioned the different strengths and weaknesses of the signs i would bet that a crab defending its family and home is literally an unstoppable force, I can't over-emphasize the power of the crab defending what is truly loved.

to any SCORPIOS reading this... In what situation is the scorpion an unstoppable force? im betting there are some good answers out there considering the nature of my beloved scorpion friends.
