I'm doing a study of Pluto Sun contacts in natal chart in connection to early loss of father. I'd love to hear from anyone who has studied a chart of someone who lost their dad early. And also from anyone with aspects between Pluto and Sun in natal chart who has NOT experienced this kind of loss.
Thanks

My cousin lost her dad (he was 29) when she was about 7 years old. Her DOB is: 1 September 1976, Odessa, Ukraine
I don't know her time of birth but I think her ASC is most likely in Scorpio. A month or two ago she lost her fiance in the car accident.
My nan (4 November 1924) and her 2 sisters are all scorps and they all lost young males in their families.
My nan lost her older son (9 August 1944)when he was 24 (died from peretonial inflammation), the middle sister (30 October 1926) only had a daughter so she lost her husband when he was 34 (died from electric shock). The younger sister (11 November 1931)lost her son when he was 29 (car accident) (the above cousin's dad) and her daughter lost her husband early too, around 31 or so (he was a liquidator of Chernobyl disaster). There is some really heavy karma involved, I think.

Hey there. I have my Sun square Pluto. I definitely have A LOT of father issues. He has always been a very negative influence upon my psychological and spiritual development. I haven't lost him to death, but I have definitely lost him in many other ways. The father-daughter bond has not been there for a very long time, probably for the past 7-8 years. I'm 21 now. I do not solely blame him for the negative congnitions and perceptions I have of myself and of my life, but I know he is definitely part of the reason for them.

Hope that helps.

I have Sun square Pluto and I lost my dad at 16 (early? I guess I wasn't a kid, but I wasn't an adult either). Interesting theory.

I don't have a "major" aspect between my Pluto & Sun (a quincunx), but, then, I didn't really "lose" my Dad, either - I just saw him become an abusive alchoholic.
So I lost him in a way.

Hi Kavala! (First post since 2004??) Welcome!

I have Sun and Pluto conj. in first house, and my father is alive and well. Also, only trines and sextiles connected to them.

But come to think of it, I also have Venus conj. those two. That might soften the whole thing maybe?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help, everyone.
I got interested in this after reading Arroyo's brilliant book Astrology Karma&Transformation, where he mentions this. The father might not be dead, but as Proxieme and histrionix point out might be "dead" to the individual. Or even have walked away or just dissappeared.

I have Pluto 25 virgo conjunct Sun 29 Virgo. I didn't lose my father, but he definately wasn't around for me. Parents divorced when I was six and Dad married his Mistress, whom is a Horrible Witch and caused major problems with my relationship with my Father. Although we get along great now as I am an adult, it was rather Tumultuous growing up! So in a way I did lose my father!

My fear with this Aspect is I may appear to be quiet intimidating to the opposite Sex??? Being a very strong women, men seem to not have a lot of interest in me?? Although Very Attractive and Slim and Sexy looking??? Do not know why? Has anyone found that?

hi! i've got sun 10*libra & pluto 11*libra both in the 4th house. i can really see that it could have turned out that way (my dad being 'dead') for me. i was going down that really destructive rebellious path. but luckily certain things happened in my life and me and both of my parents healed our relationship within this lifetime we're great friends now! so i dunno if it's some sorta karma that i worked thru to avoid this, or if there are other aspects so that this aspect didn't mean quite that same thing for me?! i'm thankful to have 'escaped' this if that's the case

Kavala, I have Sun square Pl and my dad is 76. My experience is more like histrionix's. I saw and see even now as a bad influence on me and my family although my parents are married.

He was a very bad example to me as a man.

Thanks again to all of you for your help. Here are some charts of famous persons I've looked at:
Charlotte Casiraghi, Sun square Pluto
Pierre Casiraghi, Sun sextile Pluto
(though brother Andrea has no Pluto Sun contact)
John Kennedy jr and sister Caroline, both Sun square Pluto
Chris Noth, Sun square Pluto
All lost father very early

Natasja Kinski, bad relationship with father, Pluto quincunx

All replies are very useful to me, so please keep posting!

I have recently been looking at Angelina Jolie's chart and she has Sun Gemini 13 degrees Trine to Pluto Liba 6 degrees. She seems to have a Terrible relationship with her father too. But she also has the Mars 10 Aries Opposite Pluto Libra 6 degrees. That is more significant of Father issues/ then Death, as mine being Square Pluto 25 Virgo Square to Mars 1 Capricorn.

Thanks for the welcome!
Peri, I looked at your cousin's chart - she has a semi-sextile between Sun and Pluto. I didn't look at the other charts as I want to concentrate on the father issue here, but i sure sounds like a lot of Plutonian activity in your family! Or Uranian, maybe?? Electric shock sure is Uranus, but Chernobyl is just a metaphor for Pluto.

I have a strong Pluto - Sun square (Pluto at 25 degrees Virgo conjuncting my Ascendant and Sun at 25 degrees Sagittarius in the 4th house).

My father is very much alive, not abusive and not on drugs. He is one of my heros and always has been. There was a time when I felt very distant from him with his work (he was an undercover special agent) and he had a bit of a problem with the ladies.

My parents divorced when I was 12 (but I can't say I lost him because we saw him more after the divorce than before) However, I did spent about 2 years hating him and ignoring him when I was about 15 until I was about 17 (mostly for reasons concerning my ex-stepmonster).

My dad and I are pretty close- we talk at least 3 times a week.

I have Saturn trine Sun though which indicates good relationships with men / father.

I see my Pluto - Sun aspect in regards to authority figures and work relationships rather than with parental figures.

Hope that helps

Well, ok, let's be more precise then. I was taking the "death" thing too literally.

I'll add to my reply that my relationship with my father, while growing up, was less than wonderful. I perceived him as a cold and stern person, and someone I couldn't relate to at all. The funny thing is, in reality, he is neither cold nor stern, but actually a great guy. There are a lot of things I didn't understand about him when I was a kid.

I agree with Pidaua, a Sun-Saturn trine which I also have is probably responsible for some of this.

I have pluto conjunct my sun in the 8th, and i did lose my father at a young age. Not by way of death but because my parents split when i was 5. After my mom got custody we never saw him, spoke to him or heard from him. Not until i was an adult did i start to have any kind of a realationship with him. The only memories i have of him from before they split were of being deathly afraid of him. He had a horrible temper. Now things are better and i am not afraid of him anymore, he has mellowed out a lot over the years.

Practically speaking the interpretation is too broad. pardon my earth influence, but if he died, he died. So many have issues with father.

Mine was a Marine who died when I was 21, of kidney and liver failure due to drug use. He also chain smoked. (Aqua/Pisces Moon)
He was mellow and kind when he was alive.
I have Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter trine Sun, and all planets are conjunct the Midheaven.

I get along with father figures especially men with Saturn conjunct Midheaven, Ascendant or Moon.

I had a terrible relationship with my mother,
moon/8th house cancer, much worse than father. I don't speak to her as she is an alcoholic.
(Scorpio/Pisces Moon/Venus Scorpio/Ascendant Gemini trine Neptune)

Hey, here's my birth data (for your study)

male: 7-18-1979, 3:34pm, Rockford, Illinois USA

I have Pluto in Libra in the 11th house SQUARED my sun in Cancer in the 8th house. (and scorpio rising too)

I have 6 or 7 major aspects to Pluto (depending on if you count a semi-square to be important.)

My dad is alive and well. He is in an Aqua (contact me privately at beebuddy@gmail.com if you want his birth data.)
He is a bit of a hermit but he was always a very good father and we love each other very much, although displays of affection are very rare. To be honest, sometimes I don't quite understand him, other times I do (I also have uranus conjunct ascendent, which, IMO, lends extra sympathy to the aqua's.

Hi kavala,

I have Sun Square Pluto orb 1° 51', but i didn't lose my father. I did, however, lose my mother when i was 4 years old.

In a way, though, we (i have a sister) did lose him. He worked hard for us, and i love him for it. But it meant that he wasn't around, or was too busy around the house to give us as much attention as we'd have liked, during school holiday, for example.

My father also suffered a ruptured stomach ulcer, which could have killed him, when i was about six. We were fostered out for at least three months whilst he recovered.

Hope that helps your study :-)

I have Sun 10.28 degrees Virgo, conjunct Pluto 6.03 degrees Virgo.....I lost my father in a car accident when I was 4 years old, days before my 5th birthday.......Yeah, someone once brought this to my attention, interesting.

Using Equal house system they fall in the 8th house, using Placidus they fall in the 7th house.

By the way....WELCOME!

Puto is sextile my Sun, but my dad is still alive...though I don't get along with him at all, and I moved to my grandparent's because of him when I was like 12.
