Hi all, does anyone know how the sun and venus would interract in synastry when in opposition?
I am curious to know what would happen its effects would be in a double-whammy scenario in a synastry chart, in particular:

1st person: (me )
Sun: Libra
Venus: Scorpio

the special lady:
Sun: Taurus
Venus: Aries

look forward to hearing your thoughts.

This aspect is frequently found in romantic and intimate relationships. The two of you enjoy being in each other’s company and share a deep friendship. Occasionally however, you can feel that she is trying to dominate or over-power you by her Ego drive. She may not always feel that you are doing everything that she thinks you should be doing.

That x-files site has some questionable interpretations, IMO. Take 'em with a grain of salt and don't hesisitate to get a second opinion.

To build on what Illog said, because these are oppositions there's going to some tension. At first, at least, it's an attractive tension - it gets your attention. This works well with a Sun-veuns opposition in synastry because, Venus is a receptive planets, and in most cases, when you meet someone new, you don't overtly "feel" their Venusian energies - you'll sense their ASC, SUn, Merc, Mars and moon first (often in that order more or less) whether you're are aware of it or not.

Venus is often the last of the personal planets to be "felt" out, unless somethingm akes it stand out, like it's a Venus rising, or there's a strong synastry contact. That's why Venus oppositions often work in attracting people to each other - they get those venus energies noticed. In Sun-venus opposition there's a sense of "this person's for me" - a harmonic mirroring of the person's Sun with the other's Venus. The tension of the opposition makes sure this doesn't go unnoticed.

The problems lie in that in time as the relationship gets more comfy, the Sun person can use that tension against the Venus person if there are not other aspects keeping the Sun in check. If the Sun person does this, the relationship becomes oppressive and stressful for the Venus person, as contacts with Venus are always vulnerable. That vulnerablity is essential for intimacy and understanding - that's why venus is so critical to relationships - but if the tides of love turn, the Venus peson is who'll get hurt.

On the bright side, in good relationships these kinds of Sun-venus opposotion help keep the love affair stimulated and alive. So in a healthy relationship, this is an excellant aspect and may help increase the longevity and mutual enjoyment of the affair.

Oppositions are not as combative as squares, so their tension can be more easily balancecd out by other aspects. So their presence in synastry is highly relative to what else is going on aspect-wise. In interpreted these kind of oppositions it's good to look at what else in the chart might influence it, for better or worse. Other positive contacts help you cope with the tension of this opposition in constructive ways, while harder aspects can aggravate the oppositon, and make it harder to cope with in the long run. In a good dynamic relationship, you'll probably have a little of both, but as time goes on you learn to work those psoitive aspects to your advantage, and this in turn helps you reaped the more of the benefits of a Venus opposition.

Last thing - since this is a double whammy in your case, I think overall this is a very excellant thing for you and your partner. The double whammy can create a mutual understanding of each other's vulnerablities and needs, and respectively keep each other's Sun (ego) in check (ideally - it still depends on the rest of your charts). This certainly would be a highly stimulating configuration and there's no doubt the attraction between you is mutually sincere.

Yes, that site is pretty intimidating to say the least. I hate it when astrology sites always emphasize the negative information. Where is all the love? Gemini Nymph thanks for the upbeat response, lets see how it all pans out I will do my best to be considerate. We have a few positive saturn aspects, so I figure those may act as a stabilizing factor?

that sounded peachy Lauren! Thanks for your feedback. It sounds intriguing to say the least, Im sure it keeps the relationship from becoming stale, and I like how u said that arguments and disagreements can re-kindle the attraction. Good luck with your BF

Saturn present challenges to any relationship, but the real question is whether you're ready to tackle those challenges. If you're not, Saturn aspects can be quite hard, even if their seem positive. This is often hardest, I've found, when one partner is ready to take on what Saturn offers, while the other isn't. Saturn, in this way, offers a hard reality check - obviously, in such a case, the two partners are on different levels of personal development and aren't very well-suited for each other despite their attraction.

Saturn may be scary, but understand that, like a good parental figure, it's looking out for you, and if you heeds it's wisdom, you'll always be better off. When Saturn "approves" of a match, it strtives to keep the couple together; when it doesn't "approve" it acts very much like a meddling parent.

In relationships that have positive Saturn aspects, Saturn can stablize by endowing a tone of maturity and responsibility. This sounds like a romance-killer, but in a healthy realtionship, Saturn helps form considerate, conscientious attitudes and habits between partners that make the relationship work better, and thus is more mutually enjoyable and beneficial int he long run. That's how Saturn can add to longevity in good relationships.

Gemini Nymph: thank you for your finer understanding of the Saturn aspects...most interesting...

I know this is a bit much to ask, but could u possibly take a look at these aspects in synastry, and tell me what u think about this possible combination all in all? I just want to know general thoughts really, and anything that sticks out, and if you think its positive all in all. The birth time for her is just a guess, so here is a possible scenario. Under this example (of her possible birth time) the sun/venus opposition occurs only once in synastry it seems. thanks!
