Ok. This is hilarious. Wow. I need to take a deep breathe after reading that. I have Chiron in Taurus conjunct my Aries Sun. Its funny because I love, love, love horses! I have been fascinated with them since I was a child, I wanted to draw them, ride them, play with horse figurines, groom them, feed them, I used to sit in at the Kingdom Hall, (I grew up Jehovah's Witness) and make horse figurines with my hand instead of listening to the talk.
Crazy right!
--------------

"Conversely, we may be charismatic, and shine brightly; we succeed in becoming the centre of attention, being loved and admired by many, but somehow we cannot recognize and enjoy it. In childhood, we perhaps lacked the experience of being at the centre of our parents’ lives. Our parents may have been somewhat childlike themselves, needing validation of their worth from us, and thus we may have the wound of narcissistic isolation."

_---------------------

That quote was definitely my life, and it was definitely my dad who was very childlike and still is, all though it is humerouus now!

-------
"Our sense of being at the creative centre of our own world may be damaged, and we may make someone else the centre of our universe; we then promote their interests and help them to shine, basking in their reflected glory, living our Chiron/Sun aspect vicariously. We are able to foster the talents and self-expression of others, but may discount our own worth and then feel despair and envy. Lacking the sense of an inner personal centre, we could be especially prone to being taken over by archetypal energies, for good or ill. "

---------------

This one is funny because that is exactly what I did to my ex! Wow that is so deep!

Its interesting though that acting classes have made me have to face my inner self and let it shine regardless of how I feel that I will be percieved, and slowly but surely the more I keep at it, the easier its getting and the amazing healing process I am going through is awesome!

Hiya Zala *hugs*

Thats really fascinating stuff. Its impressive, though I doubt I can ever be a healer or a teacher because my inner peace is non exist ant...

"The healing side can and will only be expressed/manifest if and when we attend, consciously and intentionally, to our wounds and issues."

I wish I knew how to do that.

Thanks for an awesome article

Chiron in 28 Gemini Trine Sun 28 Libra.

I concur fully with the traits mentioned, esp. with respect to requiring a 'Saturnian vehicle,' for me, I've always believed in the importance of self-regulation and discipline and it is when I exercise these vehicles that I truly shine.

Hi All! I'm a new-be here! First post.

I found this topic to be of high interest due to having my Sun & Moon conjunct Chiron. My Sun 28 Aries and my Moon 27 with Chiron in 1 degree Taurus. So I'm guessing I'm sort of Chiron qualified?

Some of the readings discussing a "wounded father image" really rang true for me. My father left the picture when I was about three and since I also have it close to the Moon as well, you might say I have "a wounded mother". She and I were separated shortly after my father. Pretty traumatizing to say the least. We were eventually reunited when I was about 5 but she continued to have a difficult time being stable and sane. Overall our roles somehow got reversed and I ended up mothering her and myself to make it through. Yet even though this happened I've actually never felt sorrow for myself. Actually the whole "wound" gave me some amazing internal back-bone. And she and I regardless of the role reversal have a very strong, unconditional love. Now my Dad, that's a different story!

I have the opposition so I'm quoting what resonates with me.

quote:
Natives will feel the destiny they sense inside is not reflected by their reality.

quote:
Chiron opposite the Sun creates a life and death struggle to bring the self into full expression. And the expression the Sun finds must be alchemical and healing.

quote:
Our sense of being at the creative centre of our own world may be damaged, and we may make someone else the centre of our universe; we then promote their interests and help them to shine, basking in their reflected glory, living our Chiron/Sun aspect vicariously. We are able to foster the talents and self-expression of others, but may discount our own worth...

quote:
We may adopt many different personae, but feel estranged from ourselves: no matter what eminence we achieve, we feel phoney. Our false self is seen, while our true self may weep somewhere in the background. We could feel the need to display ourselves, and only feel real when on show; we may be over-sensitive to criticism or confrontation, which we seek to avoid with an exaggerated panache. On the other hand we may be afraid to shine, as our inner being has a painful history of not being accepted and validated: we look everywhere for a mirror, and see only our own reflection.

quote:
Sometimes, however, the father is a spiritual mentor, guru and guide: he is supportive, wise and fosters individual growth.

quote:
With Chiron in aspect to the Sun, we have a natural ability to reflect to others their sense of self, which is often the very thing we cannot experience inwardly ourselves. We may be magnetic and attractive, but perhaps also very lonely, if we allow ourselves to feel it.

For natal Sun/Chiron aspect (click for the rest) - http://astrofix.net/2011/06/09/sunchiron-aspects/

quote:
You understand the pain of existence. Just being alive can be excruciating. You have no allegiance to any group, mindset, brand or corporation. You do your own thing – not out of rebellion, but because that’s just who you are. You are a maverick. You go your own way and make your own rules because the existing rules don’t fit. You discover who you are and who you want to be by recovering the missing pieces of yourself. You are intrinsically, fallibly human. You are accepting and embracing your pain.

Sensitivity to what it means to be alive as a human being on this planet. Sensitivity to the human plight. Sensitivity to the plight of animals and all living creatures. Soul sensitivity. Discomfort with being the center of attention. Feeling uncomfortable in your own skin – and needing to do something about it. Feeling that other people are uncomfortable when you are the center of attention. Trouble with feeling that you do not have a central purpose or reason for existing. Difficulty understanding what it is you are ‘supposed’ to be doing with your life, yet having an overwhelming sense that you are supposed to be doing something.

Helping other people realize the very qualities you lack or that give you pain. You help other people grow what you cannot grow in yourself. Helping others heal what you cannot heal in yourself. Trouble with feeling vital, expressive and creative. Problems with confidence until you fully address underlying issues. Your identity is bound up with the parts of yourself that need to be healed.

Chiron in Aspect to the Sun
by Martin Lass, from "Chiron - Healing Body and Soul"

In general, Chiron aspects to the Sun indicate that we are destined in some way to express the messages, issues and themes of Chiron in our lives. We are, in a sense, Chiron’s emissary. Crucial themes of this aspect include the challenge of coming out of the darkness into the light and of allowing or not allowing ourselves to shine.

Conjunction, Parallel, Contraparallel, Occultation

Next to Chiron conjunct, parallel, contraparallel, or occult the North Node, Chiron conjunct, parallel, contraparallel or occult the Sun represents the most powerful expression of the themes of wounding and healing in our personal lives – particularly in the case of the occultation.

This aspect is a mark of a healer and/or spiritual teacher. Whether a person fulfills this task in a given lifetime is dependent upon many other issues and questions. In short, with this aspect, we express the wound, the healing and the themes of Chiron directly in our lives. It is difficult for us to separate ourselves from our wounds, and it is certainly impossible to separate ourselves from the healling path, once initiated.

However, the area of live (seen through the houses) and the specific path/purpose/calling/destiny of our life (seen through the Nodes) – through which Chiron’s messages and expression will be manifested – will vary according. Healing, taken in its broadest sense, encompasses many different areas of life, some of which we might not initially consider healing. It is simplistic, however, to associate healing with only physical healing and the medical professions, traditional or alternative.

For example, a person with the North Node in Capricorn and the Sun conjunct Chiron in Pisces in the 5th house may have a path and purpose to take responsibility for their life and for the lives of others, returning the nurturing they have been given along the way (NN in Capricorn). They may express this through their emotional and psychic sensitivity toward others and their impulse to rescue others (Sun in Pisces). They then may play this out in the area of the arts (5th house), creating an environment and structure in which others can express themselves, such as a performing arts complex (NN in Capricorn) thereby healing their wound of fear of self-expression (Chiron’s gift and message as expressed through its conjunction with natal Sun).

We can see from this one example how crucial it is to consider all features of a chart in synergy with each other.

As one would expect, this Chiron-Sun aspect has its own difficulties and challenges, because we cannot help expressing our woundedness. The healing side can and will only be expressed/manifest if and when we attend, consciously and intentionally, to our wounds and issues.

In my own personal experience, three of my spiritual teachers, all highly psychic and all healers of the highest order, have Chiron conjunct Sun, one with an occultation.

This aspect can be a tacit indication of considerable work already done on healing and evolution of consciousness in past lives.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

(The opposition, quincunx, trine, square and sextile are also delineated, if anyone wants to see them, ask )

I just found out a couple minutes ago that I have Chiron parallel my sun. Which honestly sucks, because it already squares my sun to begin with...

Chiron Conjunct Sun as part of grand cross 3 6 9 12 Nep Sun Chi Mars Uranus. Leo rising, 1st house Pluto

Finally, just b4 55th birthday in response to sister's stroke found the key to my own healing: at my core is a kernal, a shining bud of love in the centre of a flower. I can take it anywhere because it is my core and it will sustain me evermore.

Spent 54 yrs 11 months searching for it and learning so many alternative healing methods, spent thousands on therapy, suffered with chronic pain.

I wish I could tell you how to find it for yourself. The only answer I can give you is that I found it in the deepest void of pain beneath all the fear - including the fear of the void.

As I write I am transforming: I felt the start of the Uranus - Pluto square when it came into orb March 11 and unconsciously prepared, reading Liz Greene: Saturn, Astrology of Fate, Relationships.

Seems pretty much a reflection of Sun conjunct Chiron to me.

With all my heart I wish that your path leads you to healing

So sun opp chiron makes situations which taking extremes risks help you to find who you really are? Makes sense for me!

Also, about chiron square moon (in my chart): I had always trouble with my mom, thouth I ignored then in all my childhood. I feel that I need to keep relating with her so we both can benefit in the end!

Another amazing thread, thank you all for pitching in, I loved your stories.

My sun in Capricorn squares Chiron in Aries.

This jumped out at me: "They may live in the father’s shadow, modelling themselves on his unconscious images and expectations of women."

My father was that gentle spiritual guru type who let me have a lot of freedom growing up. Yet he would casually direct my path in HUGE ways. I would be SO different without that. (My mom died when I was young so my dad loomed large.)

I'm really confused about all the Saturn stuff. As a Capricorn, Saturn is like my native "stomping grounds." I'm used to it, not frightened by it...so I don't see what there is to overcome?

Am I supposed to learn to be more like an Aries (my Chiron sign?) Just chill out?

Glaucus mentioned Melanie Reinhart's book -- "Chiron and the Healing Journey, An Astrological and Psychological Perspective" -- so here's her chapter on Chiron/Sun:

When Chiron is in aspect to the Sun, there is a wound to the solar masculine principle, and thus our experience of individuality, soloness and purpose. Our sense of being at the creative centre of our own world may be damaged, and we may make someone else the centre of our universe; we then promote their interests and help them to shine, basking in their reflected glory, living our Chiron/Sun aspect vicariously. We are able to foster the talents and self-expression of others, but may discount our own worth and then feel despair and envy. Lacking the sense of an inner personal centre, we could be especially prone to being taken over by archetypal energies, for good or ill.

Conversely, we may be charismatic, and shine brightly; we succeed in becoming the centre of attention, being loved and admired by many, but somehow we cannot recognize and enjoy it. In childhood, we perhaps lacked the experience of being at the centre of our parents lives. Our parents may have been somewhat childlike themselves, needing validation of their worth from us, and thus we may have the wound of narcissistic isolation. If we were not sufficiently mirrored and validated for our uniqueness, we probably learned very early how to survive by delighting others, reflecting their aspirations, and being only that which pleased them.

The Sun is the only heavenly body that casts a direct shadow on the Earth; the full moon casts shadows but its more diffuse light is reflected from the Sun. This dark side of the sun is relevant when Chiron aspects the Sun. It represents egomania, narcissism, a belief that ones purpose is god-ordained and therefore any means justify the attaining of it. With these aspects, we can become authoritarian, and desire to be in sole control of life and everyone we come into contact with; we may be wilful, inflexible, contemptuous and always need to be right. Coming face to face with this controlling, destructive and autocratic side of the masculine principle is often a difficult part of the journey of those with Chiron/Sun aspects. On the positive side, these aspects can signify the ability to achieve and to fight for what we want in life. We could have natural qualities of leadership, as people will warm to our sense of noble purpose. Some with Chiron/Sun aspects gather a following, but some become ardent followers of others, projecting their individuality onto them, emulating them and living in their shadow.

Women with Chiron/Sun aspects often lack confidence in their masculine side, and it may be difficult to embark on creative enterprises that require focus, goal-orientation and organization. They may live in the fathers shadow, modelling themselves on his unconscious images and expectations of women. They are sometimes preoccupied in finding the right man, and this usually means one through whom they can take their sense of identity, purpose and achievement. For example, a woman with Chiron opposite the Sun in Gemini married a man with Sun and Moon in Gemin; she was attracted to the mercurial wit and brilliance he displayed, which she could not feel within herself; later she bitterly resented him for it, and turned her sharp tongue on him. Jackie Kennedy [had] Sun in Leo in the 9th house, square Chiron in the 6th house in Taurus conjunct the North Node and possibly the Descendant; although a woman of style and individuality in her own right, she [was] perhaps even more famous for having been the wife of two extremely rich and powerful men, President Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis. When still a child, she reputedly told her father that she would marry the President of the United States when she grew up!

With Chiron/Sun aspects, the image of the father will be coloured by Chironian themes. He may have been weak, ill, impotent, wounded, absent or insubstantial or at least perceived in that light; he may also have been a wounding influence, violent and rough. Sometimes, however, the father is a spiritual mentor, guru and guide: he is supportive, wise and fosters individual growth. The son of such a man may have problems, feeling unable to compete, and perhaps even rejecting the positive attributes he has inherited; he may travel a long and circuitous route to reclaim them. Women with Chiron/Sun are sometimes groupies, projecting the image of saviour or healer: they pursue charismatic men, gurus, musicians or other public figures; they try to be their counterparts the wounded woman, the damsel in distress or the wife of the great man. On the other hand they may see men as wounded; they may attract lame ducks who need emotional or financial support, and who in turn wound them.

With Chiron in aspect to the Sun, we have a natural ability to reflect to others their sense of self, which is often the very thing we cannot experience inwardly ourselves. We may be magnetic and attractive, but perhaps also very lonely, if we allow ourselves to feel it. Men with this aspect sometimes feel responsible for healing or resolving something inherited from their father. Some have a gift for positive fathering, whether or not they have their own children; they could work with children, facilitate creativity or help foster individuality in others by discussing goals and objectives from a position of respect and emotional detachment.

A Chiron/Sun aspect is a powerful stimulus to the process of individuation. There has always been a connection between horses and the Sun. The latter connection is due not merely to the fact that the horse whas the vehicle of the sun-god but because, through its swiftness, strength and activity, it was itself a symbol of the Sun. We have seen that horses are important in many shamanic cultures, the symbolic means for magical flight or ecstasy. The initiatory cycle of the shaman includes a stage which Joan Halifax calls the solarization of the consciousness, where we move from the periphery to the centre of our life. With Chiron aspecting the Sun, the healing of our suffering may come through the recognition of the wider context of life and a sense of our individual place in it, where the laughter of compassion wells up from the human heart. With Chiron aspecting the Sun, we are called upon not to shine for ourselves alone, but for the greater glory of God.

i like this.. i think the egoiste parts are how i experience chiron parallel sun.

I have a chiron in cancer in the 12th house ... it's actually extremely painful sometimes, and now that I'm older, I'm having more ability with distinguishing the pain coming from my Chiron versus my cancer rising.

Having a Chiron in Cancer affects my relationships with people in a very real way. I get these feelings, for no reason that I'm consciously aware of, that people really just dislike me. I've been like this all my life, and delving more into the chiron helps me access that this is more like a projection that I create and have to really work hard to break past. But that defensive barrier breakdown is difficult - especially when I can't identify where these feelings are coming from - thanks 12th house!

But on the same respect, it allows me to recognize the Chiron on a spiritual level allows me to utilize my feeling of real pain to access ways to help other people ... after all, that's what I've been lead to believe the purpose of the chiron is - learning to utilize spiritual growth to help others. It helps me, too, because as I have a lot of virgo in my chart (working from virgo to pisces in my true node as well) it makes me have to place trust in the great unknown and work WITH it, and not AGAINST it.

I get sort of angry if people ignore the chiron, for I feel it's very real presence in my life and cannot explain things that would otherwise have no explanation.

this thread was a pretty major find for me. which happened last night when t moon was conj dc

chiron aspects all the main planets in my chart in one way or another, except uranus. most notably sextile sun and moon (moon by 0deg)and opposing saturn (widely), but the description fits like a glove.

there are 0deg quincunxes to neptune and pluto (who'd a thunk)
It makes a 0deg semi sextile to mars, and tightly semi sq my venus merc conj in aries which i lol'd at. so fitting.
lastly it trines AC, jupiter and POF.

guess that is why this energy feels so palpable to me- this thread has helped me a lot in understanding its chirotic origins. thanks

Great thread!

I have Chiron opposed my Sun/Uranus conjunction. All the stuff about emotional wounding by a father figure is quite true. Dear Old Dad popped in & out of my life since I was a toddler. I forgave him in my adult life, but I no longer have anything to do with him.

I am an older wiser soul than he is and pity that he chooses to keep dancing with that tired old partner Self Deception just because it is comfortable for him.
