LL Friends,Okay forget romance; never mind sex, and well soul crushes, unfortunately I need to stop contmeplating that for now. I need to make some serious decisions about my "career". In the past I have worked extensively as a freelance writer, an editor, a Zine publisher, and now an Artisan with a home studio and business (in the black for five years but still not dizzying lucrative and very very labor intensive). I am also working on a book about my cancer journey; still debating editing a book with Doc and need to decide wthether or not to expand the artisan business into other stores. Money will also become an issue as our older child is getting ready for high school and it will be expensive. If you look at my chart where do you see me career wise? Will I ever get this settled out.I have been juggling hard the kids and work and now they are getting older so I think I should start making different decisions. Any input on the chart would be helpful. TIA. IP: Logged |

Lily,You have a "Splash chart". According to Tracy Marks of The Art of Astrological Interpretation: "Planets are scattered around the chart, usually with no more than two planets in any one house, with no more than three empty houses, and with no empty area larger than two houses or 60 degrees...The splash personality...variety of interests and abilities and a tendency to scatter...[their] energies..." So you will ALWAYS have many talents and interests. The challenge is to "keep it together" so your energies don't become TOO scattered. So pick one of the numerous things you are interested in, call it your "career" and do that until you get interested in something else! Careering, Tim IP: Logged |

Thanks Tim!oh..and BeeBuddy weird....I did work in juvenile justice right after college but after one of my kids stabbed someone at the subway in Boston and left the bloody knife under my desk I decided not to go to law school and become a public defender which is what I had been planning back then in my bad ole hot single days...LOL IP: Logged |

check out your part of fortune. It is in Capricorn in the second house. With that placement (let alone the part of fortune there) it is somewhat ironic that you are asking for career advice because you should be the career master! And if you aren't right now, with proper focus you will be.IP: Logged |

Shoot, I should be asking YOU for a job! I work at a grocery store right now and I sure could use some extra cash flow. Hey I'm not far from MD, you got any good leads for an economist/budding astrologer?IP: Logged |

Thanks BB--don't know of anyone looking for an economist unfortunately...not sure of being the career master...maybe another life time...I have been successful in what I have attempted but I need to pinpoint things now...not sure what. Tim is right about the disparate energies flying about. LOLIP: Logged |

Well as all things good and bad, it will pass. My bet is that once the current transits wear off you will be fine. IP: Logged |

A useful link from an earlier discussion: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/006543.html The information is from a book by Charles E. Luntz called Vocational Guidance by Astrology. Excellent text, inspired Noel Tyl, I believe (who has his own comprehensive work on vocational astrology coming out in January). You should see if your local library has a copy available. Edited to add what the Parkers have to say about Sun in Gemini with Sagittarius rising ...
Characteristics: Enthusiastic, optimistic in outlook, breadth of vision Needs: To communicate with others Possible careers: Newsdealer, the post office, travel agent, advertising, publishing, the media, teacher Good luck!

Thanks Tula that looks like great reading! Maurice Fernandez says that with the Gem mercury/sun and other aspects it should be very cerebral like writing and research which does make sense and I have a graduate degree just have not gotten as much use out of it as I should. I have toyed with going to medical/public health school but the family is strongly nixing that! I will continue to work on the writing and health research when I am not in the Studio. Thanks again for the links!!! IP: Logged |

LilyGirl have you considered political activism? Just a thought-as for writing there are so many different kinds, legal, entertainment, textbooks, what do you feel passionately about? My career has been in flux for the past year too and I asked myself what kind of people I wanted to work with and that led me to the answer. Ask yourself do you like structured, free thinking, long hours, short hours, ask around, watch others. Personally I don't mind long hours, but I must have stimulating and intellectual-and writing-I have Gemini/Mecury too. That's why I chose to write for a law firm, the material is legal-stimulating there is a ton of writing involved, and the lawyers are funny and quick witted. Talk to Virgos and Cancers who make good career counselors. Good Luck, Natasha

Are there ever problems with arguments when it comes to anything having to do with your career? Either others becoming argumentive towards you, or you being argumentive?------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Thanks Natasha! My writing over the past twenty years has focused on adolescent development and teen issues, both in the writing I did for organizations and insittutions and with the Zine. The Zine was for teen girls and young women. It received good reviews but I had to close that down after having a miscarriage and getting quite ill.I have worked independently for many many years. I had to stop supervising other people especially interns. I found everyone was in my office asking for personal advice day in and day out. It was always draining whereever I worked. I always had bosses who would want me to come over to their homes for dinner and holidays and work late in their houses (nonprofit execs). I was always trying to emotionally separate from people after giving them way too much rope I fear. I was usually popular with superiors. In 20 years of working I only had one unsavory work account and that was when the wife of a man I was helping to build a recruiting business in DC "fired" me. She thought there was a thing her husband had for me. But of course he never said or did a thing untoward to me though I sensed he was entering a midlife crisis and rather lonely. IP: Logged |
