I'm just delving into astrology, really, and one of my first questions that I was curious to know others' interpretations on is- What does it mean to be a Pisces with Leo Rising? I understand sun sign and ascendant. But I don't know if Leo and Pisces are conflicting, or if it is positive. I understand a rising sign is not the same as having it that sign be your sun sign, but what are the differences? I can say that once I learned that my ascendant was Leo, and I read about that ascendant in a basic astrology book- I definitely found that I saw alot of myself there. So, just curious as to whether anyone can point me in the direction to learn about how the two operate together.

I'm just starting out, so if anyone has any suggestions as to links or books for me, I'd be very happy.

Thanks,
Zelda

Mm, I assume it would conflict at some times. I assume that sometimes you'll find yourself going through a pattern you don't understand why you're in.

At least, that's how I feel. But then again, I'm not a Pisces/Leo, I'm an Aries/Virgo. They're both inconjunct, though, so, eh, it could be an inconjunct thing.

Pisces Sun Leo Rising here. Sun in the 8th house.

My experience is you HAVE to make sure you let yourself show that Pisces watery emotional part of yourself or youre gonna see people reacting to your dynamic bright and strong ASC in a very apparent fashion. Meaning that Leo is a fixed sign and when on the ASC makes you quite proud and d-a-m-n sure of yourself, but INSIDE theres the empathic Pisces Sun. So there's this thing about, and youll see this often, people not seeing this soft part of you and there could be misunderstandings [the key word of this combo, any quincunx], cos you radiate this intense energy and have this drama about your presence, but a lot of the time Pisces sun, esp if its in the 8th house, just wants its space to dream and its privacy. If its in the 7th itd be a diff story.

It's not conflict exactly, thatd happen if the Sun was in Scorp or Taurus, maybe Aqua. Just that there could be misunderstandings in general. Youll notice people being sure that they know who you are based on one ecounter, when in truth theyd have to meet you 5 times or so to get a workable grasp to really formulate a valid opinion, since this is a very complex and multifaceted combo. Its definitely not "what you see is what you get." Again this is all my experience/opinion. Itd be the same with any chart possessing a quincunx between sun and asc. These 2 signs technically arent supposed to have too much in common since they dont share same element or the same mode. But Pisces and Leo are both extremely creative and extremely expressive, pisces more inward and leo being more outward. Lotsa dramatic theater potential here, you can assume -- all creative pursuits, really.

Good thing about having a strong ASC when you have a classified weaker sun sign is that you can call on the strong outer front that you have when you need to [which is what i do] but stick with your true nature of your Pisces Sun most other times, because it can easily feel as if youre floating away from yourself. Its a sorta zany combo since fire and water are the most expressive elements. Throw in any Aquarius you have in your chart and youd be quite interesting...

Having a water moon would double the emotion having a fire moon would double the strength. Air moon would be good because itd sort out the inward drama that Im sure you experience giving you an ability to be detached [if thats at all possible with this combo], an earth moon [like i have] would ground you more and work well with the pisces sun [not the leo asc] making your dreams more workable and getting the wheels in motion to express what youre here to share.

Theres this book ive seen that has a page for each sun sign asc combo, and if you look it up on amazon you can "search inside" the book on the site for "pisce sun leo rising" and itll bring up a link and show you the exact page so you can read it there. And darn it all to hell i forgot the title, but just look up "rising sign" on the site under books and its one of the 2 or 3 or so thatre listed. Youll know its that one cos it says on the description it combines the sun and asc. Darn, i think it has a green and blue cover? Take care.

*edit* Oh, and if you dont think youre zany try being around an aqua with a virgo asc or virgo with aqua rising. Haha, its the Aloof Scientist vs. the Dramatic Artisan. Lots of attraction, questions and furrowed brows...... Enjoy your wk!

Hi. I am Pisces Sun, Leo Rising, Leo Moon. Quite enjoyable in many ways. It helps put some fiery power behind those watery Neptune dreams.

I am Pisces Sun, Leo Rising, Sag moon, Pluto Ascendent almost in my first house...Odd energy better when in the company of another Leo type, people are less intimmidated. Magical but steamy...Secret enemies flair for drama on stage whether you want to be or not...

tuxedo!

yes, i agree with you greatly, especially about what i couldn't figure out for the longest time: intimidation. i often wondered why i would occasionally receive the wrath of somebody who seemed insecure, and i think that's it, what you mentioned.

and yes, the not-staged-at-all drama or love of life or flair, whatever one wants to call it- i have always had that, apparantly since i was a baby.

unfortunately, i don't know any Leos, though my grandmother was one and we fought like heck- power struggles - when i was a teen (who doesn't have power struggles with their family as a teen? ; ), about small things, but it was definitely like "watch the sparks fly with those two."

i find that other pisces seem to be drawn to me, or probably its a mutual attraction. unfortunately, they are often the stereotypical pisces ( i really hate the stereotype too, just for you other pisces) : emotional needy, deep and alluring, but never totally showing themslves. when i was younger they seemed to just suck the life out of me, and yet since a strong part of me empathized with them, i wouldn't leave. then at some point they'd tell me i'd lost that lust for life they'd been so attracted to, and they felt stronger and then they left me.

also, people who say things like,"oh, YOU are a pisces? i HATE them! you're the first one i get along with!" i think encounters like that had something to do with wanting to learn more about astrology.

anyway, i'm really happy to find folks with similar experiences

Hi everyone- I can't believe I haven't been on this site for so long. There was a lot going on for me these past weeks.

So...
WaterNymph, Venus & Yang,
Thanks for the welcomes!
-------------------------------------------
luna*tic12,
<<thank the lord for that ascendant. i think if it wasnt for good ole leo id be a pretty sad person>>
I couldn't agree more!
--------------------------------------------
Arnicka,
Thanks so much for all your insight!
<<...people not seeing this soft part of you and there could be misunderstandings [the key word of this combo, any quincunx]...Its definitely not "what you see is what you get." Again this is all my experience/opinion.>>
I thoroughly agree with your opinion and can empathize with your experience. It's kinda funny, but I find when people make those assumptions about me, my Leo pride gets *quite* offended! Inside I'm thinking,"Who do you think you are?! Don't you dare make any snap judgments about me!"
Usually, its the more extroverted part of me that most experience first, but in the past year or so I've been quite low energy and I've had about 4 experiences with employers or co-workers who saw the "weak pisces" in me (which in truth was just exhaustion!). They pushed me too far: tried to take advantage of what they thought was a pushover, etc. and luckily that queenly, lioness pride came out and saved me. Not like a roar or vicious scratch, more like a cat who simply doesn't have the time for that crap, thank you very much, with a swift switch of her tail : )

<<an earth moon [like i have] would ground you more>>
Yes, my moon is in taurus, and i feel it has anchored me.

<<Theres this book ive seen that has a page for each sun sign asc combo>>
I read it, thanks for the tip!

-----------------------------------
FishKitten,
Wow, both asc. AND moon in Leo!
<< It helps put some fiery power behind those watery Neptune dreams.>>
Yep, I understand this %100.
---------------------------------
Thanks for all the feedback. Its really helped me see the foundation, if you will, and now I can move on to learning about the other aspects of my chart, plus those of friends and relatives.
