I think I read somewhere that Pisces, Aries, and Leo are associated with dancing...Especially Pisces, because Pisces rules the feet.

I have a Pisces Medheaven which is associated with career...I've always been a dancer w/ strong interest in film. I'm a great dancer (although 22 years of Ballet helped). I'm an Aries w/ Aqua Moon. I don't know if you could say Aries is associated with being a good dancer...many Aries men I know have absolutely no coordination including my Dad (aries w/ Moon in Scorpio)

I know a scorpio sun/venus girl who is a very good dancer. She has pisces ascendent and leo moon also, as a matter of fact :P
I am good at dancing but ONLY if there's no routine. I forget routines. Which is why when drama performs musicals, I think "ohh nooo" We're doing one now called "42nd Street" -think like the movie "Chicago"- and I cannot learn the dances. It's ridiculous.
When I'm at a party or club, I am a very good dancer; thank god

Aquarius sun, Pisces rising & Venus, Scorpio moon

My man is like the rolling thunder, passionate like a wild flame
His love is strong, like the heat of summer, he calms me down like the cool, cool rain
His deep, wonderful ways amaze me
It's no wonder why I love my baby
My man'll never leave me, he always tells me so
It's no wonder why I love my Scorpio

For dancers who are dedicated to form ...

I'd look for creative Aspects before looking at Signs - plus - there should be a point in the Chart leaning toward the technical :::

Aspects in the Chart above :::

* Sun Conjunct Uranus (good opportunity for outward expression of progressive creativity)

* Moon Trine Neptune (emotions in touch with the dreamy stage forum)

* Moon Trine Asc (emotional translation of music immediately projected outwardly)

* Venus Sextile Mars (creative intention is easily expressed)

* Venus Sextile Neptune (creativity easily translated into the dreamy stage forum)

* Venus Conjunct Pluto (creativity in touch with a magical translation)

* Mars Sextile Pluto (intention is TO BE magical)

* Neptune Sextile Pluto (dreamy creativity combined with the magical - true to translating into a form)

* Neptune Conj Asc (demeanor is dreamy - a natural)

One other Aspect which is not as focused on the creativity, but the Sun Sextile Jupiter will open the dancer's mind to learning dance from, and of, different cultures, and the willingness to visit those cultures.

I'm gonna see if a find that technical emphasis in the Chart now, and will continue in separate post ...

I know that when I checked out a couple of Charts from some of the greatest dancers, including the better known Barishnikov, there was an immense creative emphasis in the Aspects, plus, there would also be a strong technical ability, in order to translate it as flawlessly as possible.

For technical in dance, I think of Gemini/Mercury/6th House, or Aquarius/Uranus/11th House, plus including Aspects to. I also notice there's usually something in Libra, which can combine the technical with the creative very well.

I see Mercury in the 11th, and almost Uranus in the 11th, but it was bumped into the 12th. The Sun Conj Uranus can probably get a good handle on form if the dedication is there. There are no Aspects to Mercury, so perhaps the technical relies greatly on the emotional/creative/magical impulses stated above. Maybe even the cumpulsion to it very well.

But that Unaspected Mercury IS in the 11th House, which Rules Uranus and may connect to that Sun Conj Uranus even more!

OH! And there's Venus & Pluto in Libra, which gives you an idea of the true creative edge of the Venus & Pluto Aspects above. Jupiter & Saturn are also in Libra.

All the Libra placements are in the 10th House of career.

Yeah, your Midheaven (MC or 10th House Cusp) is also an indicator for career likes or dislikes, and it is in Libra as well. So you have a lot of creative desires.

As for the 12th House, I'm not feeling that as important for your query as Neptune is.

You might like drama or acting too. Do you find you need to express yourself through the movements of your body a lot?

i love to dance... i do either with high silliness and a bit of a slink or a kind of martial high energy - I think my Virgo mars conj asc is responsible for the cathartic dancing to hard and heavy music (metal or dance... just needs to be hard.) and I have Venus in Pisces. if i like the music in the club or party ill dance beyond the point of pain!

When it comes to having natural rhythm, I don't think you can do better than an Earth sign. While in the Navy, my Taurus buddy and I were always the two most likely guys to hit the dance floor.

I can't really comment on coordinated/choreographed dance.

From Magi Astrology:

quote:
MARS represents the body and muscles, motion, bodily movements and activity, energy, initiative, the sex drive (especially in men), war, weapons of war, aggression, anger, violence, temper, belligerency, the soldier, the warrior, violence, accidents, sudden disruptions (including accidents), competitiveness, athletic competition, and the athlete. Since Mars rules the body, it has dominion over what we do with the body, such as athletic endeavors, dance and ballet, and also pure physical labor. Mars is associated with pure physical attraction of the body, as distinguished from emotional and even sexual attraction. Venus rules female sexuality, but Mars is the ruler of male sexuality. Mars governs initiative and being a person of action, as opposed to indecision and excessive contemplation. It also rules the dancer and farmer, laborer and carpenter, and any profession that has a primary requirement of using the body. Mars signifies crudness, vulgarity, macho attitudes, and the he-man.

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'
~Lewis Carroll

I have natural rhythm as I stated earlier. If it's Mars, then my Mars is in Scorpio.

I still think Earth may have something to do with it though. I've never met a Virgo who can't dance (though I'm sure the macho male ones won't). I've danced with more than one Taurus as well.

A Libra I know is a fun, kind of goofy dancer. Cancers can dance and like to dance, but it's difficult for me match their rhythm. Same with Leos.

Yes, I consider myself to be a natural dancer. Studied ballet, jazz, modern dance, etc. Yes.

Hey! Gosh Jazz can include a lot.. I teach girls (7-10).. It's very swingy, sharp quick movements, lots of twists, kicks, rolls, turns and leaps..
More common forms of jazz would include: charleston, jitterbug, swing....
In my opinion, Ballet is the root of all dance.... we teach jazz together with ballet, lyrical ballet, and tap.
Even Ballroom dancing is an extension of jazz... hope that helps... and yes maybe Scorpio has something to do with it.... Both my mars and neptune are in Scorpio 10th.
