Just for clarification, though I know many of you don't need it. I wasn't saying that Asians are funny, but rather the assertion that Asians are what Jesus was referring to when he spoke of the meek.

I grew up Christian, and wanted to be a pastor throughout my formative years, so I'm not unfamiliar with the Bible or Christianity.

I believe Theodora and PixelPixie have it right in defining the meek to mean people who are actually meek. Any race can fall under that category, and I dare say that the meek aren't necessarily a unified group of people such as a single race or nationality.

God first revealed himself to the Jews but that doesn't mean that they're the chosen people. I don't really think God has favorites.

Dulce Luna, I agree God doesnt have favourites. Don't think the Jewish people were the first people God revealed himself to. They were one of them.

I believe God did chose different tribes and peoples from all corners of the world and throughout history to bring his message to, and it was their duty to spread that message to others.

Theodora, I agree one can't lump all Asians or all Chinese as meek, because that's just not true.

Everyone is an individual, has their own mind, their own will, and their own conscience.

Pixelpixie has it right...

quote:
Meek by definition... shall inherit the earth.. means do not take what is not yours, repect others, do not hold yourself to a higher regard than others ( share), showing patience and humility, humbleness.....
etc.
Those set of traits are desireable in anyone, and they contribute to harmony all throughout the Globe.

Yes, the Jews are considered to be Gods people. God chose them as they were the slaves in Egypt. The concept of Monotheism is attributed to Judaism. It was very hard for monotheism to survive under the many pagan culture prevalent during those times. I mean ok the Egyptian queen made people to worship the sun god alone at some point, but this God of the Jews was very different. There are stories of people taking the soil of Israel whenever they visited the country.

But as someone said, God is not partial.
The jews were the first people in the plan of this new God and then everyone knows how Christianity emerged.

I think Jesus meant more to say "Blessed are the poor, for yours is the Kingdom of Heaven."

and the kingdom of heaven/God being spread everywhere including our earth.

hello everyone,

When I started catachism I learned that God was so upset that he had killed off the world with water (Noah) that he vowed never again and that next time it would be with fire.

This was before third world countries had access to nuclear weapons. In my little girls mind I saw it as the "Super Powers" blowing each others countries off the map leaving only the meek.

I'm a big girl now and although I am a practicing Catholic I do recognise all of the contradictions in the Bible. I also realise that the Bible was not written by God but are interpretations of his will written by man years after the death of Christ. So common sense is required.

I now consider myself to be an enlightened spiritual being. Astrology has answered the questions that religion did not. That doesn't change the fact that I'm a die hard Catholic but I am tolerant of the contradictions.

The Bible also says that come Judgement Day you will stand alone. There will be no lying or excuses and you will answer for your sins. That scared the heck out of me and made me want to live a better life.

The meek is what we all should strive to be.
( 2 Pixie )
I think as astrologers and truth seekers we have an edge on others because we are actively trying to evolve or better ourselves.

I like the concept of India being Asian. I have immense respect for their beliefs and traditions.

This Indian is as meek as Mick Foley

Ok, alternate reality rant begins...

22 different alien strains go into the human genome (Alex Collier's "Defending SAcred Ground")

Astrologically, it is as if those Star Systems seeded us. The physical manifestation of the seeding is the direct genetic experiment of Hybrid Aliens using technology patented in Sirius billions of years ago, mixing primate DNA with their own to create a intelligent slave race in Sumeria. Parallel experiments were conducted in Africa, China, India by different alien groups.
(From "Blue Blood True Blood" by Stewart Swerdlow and the works of Zecharia Sithcin)

Spiritually, our Higher Selves thought it is a great idea to incarnate into a hotch potch DNA mix. Never before had this been done in the history of the present Universe.

And they incarnate in all races to get the full feel of emotional/physical experience.
(Personal past life recalls confirmed this to me)

So all of us are Asian, American, Euro, Arab, Indian and Arican parallely in the spirit. We all inherit the Universe.

Just my two cents here....

I always thought of the phrase "chosen people" to mean that they were the ethnic group literally selected as a representative sample of all humanity; i.e., they are no better (or no worse) than anyone else, but they serve as a prime example of humanity with all of its foibles and follies.

Ephesians

11Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders by birth. You were called "the uncircumcised ones" by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts. 12In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from God's people, Israel, and you did not know the promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. 13But now you belong to Christ Jesus. Though you once were far away from God, now you have been brought near to him because of the blood of Christ.

14For Christ himself has made peace between us Jews and you Gentiles by making us all one people. He has broken down the wall of hostility that used to separate us. 15By his death he ended the whole system of Jewish law that excluded the Gentiles. His purpose was to make peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new person from the two groups. 16Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. 17He has brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and to us Jews who were near. 18Now all of us, both Jews and Gentiles, may come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

A Temple for the Lord
19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family. 20We are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. 21We who believe are carefully joined together, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22Through him you Gentiles are also joined together as part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

From the New Living Translation

We are all his "chosen people" now if we believe.

*Question for thought*

Is there such a thing as a belief which does not require a leap of faith? I'm just saying cuz either/or, it's subjective to each person.
