I've read the same study that said that couples who don't live together before marriage are more likely to stay married as well - and that very well may be true. But for me personally, in this day and age I would recommend living together before marriage.

I personally wouldn't recommend marriage actually unless you want to have children with the person, but that's just me. I would never have gotten married if I didn't want kids, I didn't really see the point besides tax benefits.

Break ups are far easier than divorces. Divorces are expensive, emotionally difficult, and involve lawyers. For me, it's a general rule that I avoid anything that requires interaction with lawyers. LOL.
