Good discussion here.
Just a comment about magi astrology a couple of posts up.
While I have a similar issue with the lack of theoretical consistency to magi astrology emphases on chiron and quincunxes. Empirical observation bears them out. Chiron does seem to have a very central role to play in long term love relationships. Exactly why that is may have many sides to it but anecdotally I can say that when I meet woman who I have a chiron/venus aspect with (specifically the trine) I feel the potential for major love. The same goes for chiron/jupiter though not as romantic. There seems to be this potential for a deep healing connection. This is what they assert and I have found it to be true in many, many instances. Even when there were complicating factors like difficult saturn aspects (mars opposite saturn for instance).

Okay, well maybe someone here can tell me what a certain aspect in the charts on astro.com means. It's a Q in my synastry charts. What the heck does it mean? Also, I noticed these little commas in the synastry aspect boxes. They look like an apostrophe or something. I asked about this earlier this year on this board but I got no reply. Since there's a very intersting discussion going on here partially related to glyphs and symbols, I thought I'd squeeze my question in here.

I'm still curious. LOL

the most accurate insight on Chiron and on quincunxes and on Saturn

It's actually their saturn ideas that I really don't like. They seem to see it as the root of all evils almost, with very few redeeming qualities.
Another thing that bothers me is their very categoric stand on things (whether it be saturn, chiron, inconjuncts or Juno) and their view of marriage is the be all end all of man/woman relationships.

I also found that they do stretch their rules when they want to prove a point. They will widen their orbs a lot more than usual and give some other explanation why it's ok when in most other places they are against it. They go on and on about nuclear clashes as making a relationship doomed while they have a few charts of long lasting couples with them (like Paul newman and wife and they totally ignore that in their analysis).

That said, I do find their views intriguing.

Q stands for quintile which is 72 degree aspect. It is 1/5 of a circle. It has to do with creativity, talent.
BQ is biquintile which is 144 degree aspect. It has to do with creativity, talent as well. It is 2/5 of a circle. Therefore Quintile and Biquintile are 5th harmonic aspects.
Astrologers often give 1 to 3 degree orb depending on the astrologer. They give an orb of 1 to 2 degrees for a biquintile. Decile is 36 degree aspect, and its 1/10 of a circle. It's a 10th harmonic. It is half a quintile and is related to the family of aspects from dividing a circle into fifths. Like quintiles, deciles reer to the aptitudes or talents related to the planets involved in the apsect, although the influence of a decile is less marked. It is given an orb of influence of 1-2 degrees.
I have no quintiles in my chart. I have biquintiles. Sun biquintile Midheaven with 6 minutes of arc and Mars biquintile dwarf planet,Pluto with 1'06 orb as well as Mercury biquintile dwarf planet,Eris with 6 minutes of arc. I have dwarf planet,Ixion biquintile Midheaven with 11 minutes of arc. I have Venus decile Uranus with 30 minutes of arc. I believe 5th and 10th harmonic aspects might figure into romantic attractions in Synastry due to the creative/self expressive nature that we attribute to Leo/5th house.
My Mercury biquintiles my girlfriend's Mercury with 1'07 orb,my Moon quintiles her Venus with 1'47 orb,my Moon quintiles her Ascendant with 1'30 orb,her Sun deciles my Moon with only 3 minutes of arc,her Moon deciles my Jupiter with 50 minutes of arc,and my Sun deciles her Jupiter with 25 minutes of arc.

The traditional minor aspects, introduced by the famed astronomer/astrologer Johannes Kepler in the 16th Century AD, were long considered to be of relatively secondary importance, although many modern astrologers are not in agreement with this. These included the quincunx, semisquare, sesquiquadrate, semisextile, quintile and biquintile. More progressive research-oriented schools like Cosmobiology or Uranian Astrology (Hamburg School of Astrology) consider the semisquare and sesquiquadrate to be relatively "major" while the traditional sextile and trine are relatively "minor" in influence — this based on current research rather than historical documents or beliefs.

Quintiles are measured from plus or minus seventy-two degrees. Bi- quintiles are measured from plus or minus one hundred and forty four degrees which is one or two fifths of a circle. When planets are quintile or bi-quintile this is an indication of uncommon creative energy and talent. They are trend-setters and need an audience. The energy here is specialized and purposely striving toward power. Quintile and bi-quintile energy can be romantic, playful and demonstrative. The quintile family of aspects can indicate science, math and engineering. There's a need to make things happen. Cosmic will seems to be at play here, so if creative things aren't happening, then look for destruction. Quintiles and bi-quintiles bring a certain dignity, clarity, pride and unusual sexual energy. A quintile resonates with the Sun, Fixed, Fire and Leo energy. http://www.adze.com/Classroom/aspects.html

A Decile occurs when two planets are thirty six degrees apart. A tri-decile occurs when two planets are one hundred and eight degrees apart. A decile is one tenth of a circle. A tri decile is three tenths. The decile family of aspects is related to the quintiles. The energy of the deciles is such that it conveys order and structure. Mental ingenuity is at work here. Deciles are power and career indicators. They often bring strong technical insights and abilities. Deciles indicate special gifts that may be wasted or unappreciated. Self-improvement is needed to capitalize on this power. Deciles resonate with Saturn, Cardinal, Earth and Capricorn energy. http://www.adze.com/Classroom/aspects.html

Love -

We DID recently talk about the "Q". We also DID recently talk about the "little commas" - I doubt you got no reply. Glaucus really has a thorough reply for you. Did it help?
