No, Sharon, it is any group's right and duty to refuse members who do not belong there. It is not like the KKK and how dare you compare in such a manner to begin with?

If your child chose to marry a heroin addict, you would try your hardest to make your child change their mind.

If your husband knowingly brought a rapist into your household, you would be very uncomfortable in your home.

If a kleptomanic came into your store, you'd atch like a hawk.

Clubs and fraternities are made to be exclusive as to be constructive. The very strength of the group depends on each member's efforts. With the inevitable drama that is bound to occur in any social group, they simply cannot afford to allow people in who already have huge issues.

I know this well enough, being a former Girl Scout and also once having been trained for a coven.

The only people I ever hear complain about exclusivity are Christians. This is because their masses encourage everyone to attend and receive the word of God. The big problem is, with church, it's a big room, full of people, many of whom you will never have to speak to and who will probably never speak to you. Their only issues are known between them, God and perhaps their reverend. Afterwards, unless their's a church group meeting, everybody goes home.

As for what I know of Freemasonry, I know a whole lot more than anyone would ever expect. It is based upon my own mischeivious curiousity. And that little, blue, pocket book is not that hard to read. Give me a break.

" It is about the same for some white Person to be shut out of a Black Panther group."

I can't imagine any white person wanting to join the Black Panthers, but boy, would I like to see one try. LOL.

I am sorry that I have ruffled some feathers out there, but I am inclined to stick with what I have said before. This group of people are made up of a Weird bunch of people that can't feel important unless they have something that other's want and they have the power to keep them out. My Grandfather was one, as well as some of my UNCLES. They all had hidden secrets and felt they were better than the average person. Masons set up to be a Great man of Character, but if ONLY they were found out. They are no better than any of the other Secret groups and it is Wrong!

The people that I have know in the Masons was a Grandfather, With many (Secrets) and his sons that were just as stuck up as he was. They are a bunch of ensecure people that want to have something that Everyone will wonder about and will excuse their Weird behavior. My Grandfather was a school bus driver and a Mason and he did many things outside of the law. He was no Saint, but wanted the community to think he was. My uncles were the same way. I don't care if anyone likes it or not, I know what I am talking about and if he could have joined the KKK he probably would have. The KKK needed to get ahold of him. The KKK not only disliked Jews and Blacks, they used to keep men straight that like to mistreat their families. Once they could have been a decent group, but when it got Obsessed with hurting the Blacks is when it went wrong. They should have left the Black people alone and stuck more to keeping the White people decent. I am from the south, and I know what I am talking about. And I am White! I have some major problems due to this kind of raising of children and the effects they have on families.

Sharon, my dear. Your problem is not that your relatives were Masons. Your problem is that you are from the south.

I am from the north. Just about every lodge up here has blacks, Jews, Muslims, Puerto-Ricans, etc.

Freemasonry is a group that is supposed to work together, to build that grand temple in the afterlife. There are not supposed to be any egos involved. They are all supposed to work for the greater good, instead of their own selfish pride. Unfortunately, no group is without men(and women) of big pride and big ego. This does not make the group flawed, but the individuals. Time and again, one member will turn against the other, because things are not going their way.

Which is true for Masons.
Which is true for Christians.
Which is true for Jews.
Which is true for Muslims.
Which is true for the KKK.
Which is true for the Black Panthers.
Which is true for the ASPCA.
Which is true for the ACLU(do they work towards every civil liberty, really?)
Which is true for your local PTA.

People, in general, are flawed. Putting flaws aside and humbling oneself to do what is needed is not easy for many people. Many good people in history were Masons. Quite a few horrible people were Masons as well. Apparently, this did not stop each member from contributing to their lodge in a constructive manner.

I have been asked to join the Eastern Star(and the Triangles), quite a few years ago. I know, in my heart that I am not old enough, wise enough, humble enough, put together enough and tame enough to truly commit to such a wonderful sorority. When I am, I will be proud. Not in the, "I'm better than you," sort of way, but in the, "I have worked hard to get to this point," way. You can go sue me and send me all the Chick tracts you want.
