Hey there! I'm an 8th house loony Aqua Moonie!
Let's see, just off the top of my head, in absolutly no particular order... I am very much a sponge when it comes to learning about the occult/new age concepts etc. I am fascinated by what society might consider the darker, more deviant things like s & m (not necessarily to participate in it you perverts!), vampires, gothic type stuff, even though I do not look (appearance-wise) as if I would be into any of this stuff. I love all the sort of death themed, or forensics, or medical type t.v. shows we have on now days (House, CSI, etc) My career is in Insurance (for now) and I'm really good at handling other people's money and i'm super organized. I also have found or attracted a lovely magical group of ladies and we get together and do magic, but we're not organized like wiccan or anything, just our own rituals from the heart. Above all having an Aqua Moon here makes me quite friendly, yet detached, and one does not get to see my depth of emotion unless I let them in!

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

I have Mars and Jupiter in Pisces in the 8th house..

and I have to agree with Tim on this one. For me sex is not about the act itself it is about the transformation.. what it does to me, how it makes me feel on the level of my soul..

I can abstain for as long as I need to because it has to be with the right person at the right time for it to give me that transformation process I crave!

Oh yes like Hexxie, as an 8th house mooner I love all things occult and I like to watch all those detective shows on A&E plus crime dramas. My sister even said if I was a white person I would probably be a goth or an "emo" or into death metal or something. She does consider me "emo" at heart. You also wouldn't guess this from my appearance which probably is majorly influenced by my venus. But, I recently streaked my hair with bright red-purple highlights. Not the hair color red but the kind that would be found in paint or something.

I really wish I had a T.O.B for my boyfriend because he use to have a part-time job at this store that sold naughty pranks, toys, and other miscellaneous items for adults. (Please do not ask ) He and I talk about these things sometimes too. (I mean the occult concepts BTW ) He actually has alot of things to say about this subject. All I have on him is a Scorpio Sun and Pluto. I think his pisces moon makes him open to these things.

Dunno, the more I read all this blah blah blah about a transformative role of sex the more sure I am that sex should be referred to the 5th house.
Sex has become something very casual, even routine (or is it the matter of 6th house already? regular sex has become an integral part of the description of a successful and healthy person now), it is just our pastime, something we enjoy like sports or hobby, it is not a mystery anymore, sex is more available than anything else now, it's an entertainment. And there is nothing transformative about it.

What really can and does transform us is LOVE, you don't take it lightly, you just cannot otherwise it's something else but not love; 8 house things are not something cool and posh, I see nothing sexy about them cozz 8th house is our emotional and spiritual blood and sweat, not fun!
Love is something we are ready to die for not sex, love is something that really changes us, makes us evolve and realize what really is important in life.
It's when we lose someone we love that part of us dies not when we experience an orgasm...
In the 8th house, LOVE comes first and plays a major transformative role, sex is insignificant here.

added* In one word, I think Love should be associated with VIII house and Sex with V house (btw affairs are ruled by V house and they are more about sex than love arent they?).

Hmm, sorry if I was too emotional

Wonderfully written....thanks....

Does that mean because I have Mercury in 8th in Scorp, I can be enlightened by my sexual thoughts alone...

Hm I enjoyed your post, Peri, but I'm not sure.

I have a stellium in the 5th house and Jupiter and Mars in the 8th house.

Romance is a 5th house issue so that could maybe be extended to sex.. but I think there is a big difference. If you consider sex a 5th house issue then apparently this would be a major focus of my life?
And it clearly isn't. I have my flings but rarely are they sexual flings.

You'd have to be more specific I think.

Also, saying that sex is routine for people is a generalization. Maybe for you, or if you want, the average person today, sex is just another hobby like walking the dog, but for me it is definitely a lot higher up.

Nice thoughts though!

Shirty, I wasn't talking about your sexual flings or your attitude towards sex, I was talking about matters of the 8th house and tried (maybe awkwardly) to explain why I think love refers to the 8th house and sex does not. I have nothing against sex but I don't think it can tranform a person

P.S. My mom has an eight house stellium (4 planets + Sun there) and believe me, sex is not her major focus in life either

I agree with the love part for sure, love is incredibly transformative..

I'm just saying that even though sex isn't an 8th house issue in your view it may be for me. We all deal with our energy differently.

I'm interested in hearing what other people have to say about this.. I mean if you really want to go to extremes love pervades the entire chart.. love is all. It would be hard to pin it down.

Interesting!

Here is some interesting info.....

Marilyn Waram:
"What Freud called the subconscious was a dumping ground for unwanted garbage from consciousness. It was Jung who gave us the concept of the unconscious as a place of astronishing wealth - Pluto to the Romans was a God of wealth - and of meaning and purposefulness. To Freud, who had Saturn and the Moon in the eighth, the images produced by the subconscious pointed to the past, to infancy and the primitive in us. To Jung, with Jupiter in this house, the same images conveyed a sense of promise and guidance; he found the light in the darkness, and was thereafter the better able to guide others through it. During the period of psychotic experiences on which much of his subsequent work was based, the progressed Moon was passing through the eighth and over Jupiter. Interestingly, the breakthrough of the unconscious followed hard on the heels of the breakup of Jung's friendship with Freud, in which he had a considerable emotional investment, so the element of separation that belongs to this house was also part of the picture. "

As for sex, I think it can be very powerful instrument of transformation but only if you choose to do so. It's not going just happen by itself. It will require deep spiritual work on part of both partners

That's a really interesting tidbit, Kamilla! Did you find this online? Is there a bigger article?

This part conveys such a beautiful image for this placement, and obviously I love it since my Jupiter is in the 8th, haha:

"..with Jupiter in this house, the same images conveyed a sense of promise and guidance; he found the light in the darkness, and was thereafter the better able to guide others through it..."

cheers Kamilla!

Yes, I agree that the eighth house isnt about sex itself. I definitely do not consider myself obsessed with sex at all and I have my moon there. I will agree that it could be about transformation through sex depending on the person/chart/circumstances/whatever. Otherwise, I think the eighth house is way deeper than that. There's more issues like death, rebirth, healing, etc.

Well I have absolutely zilch in my eighth house.
After reading the posts, I do wonder wonder what planetary aspects show "being sexy, lustful, or good in the sack".

I, too, have so many planets in the 8th House (the Sun, Venus, Jupiter, & Saturn). And yet I feel like my raw sexual energy doesn't instantly turn off. But I've channeled it into something constructive so my energy doesn't turn chaotic.

sue,

You asked:

With Mercury (thinking/daily work) focused in the 8th house (transformation, also sex), you may be at least THINKING about sex a lot! But...if you want to...maybe this thinking can lead to Kundalini sexual enlightenment! At least it's "worth a shot"!

Sexually transformative,

Tim

Peri,

You said:

quote:
...the more sure I am that sex should be referred to the 5th house...[not the 8th house]

If we look at the chart houses as something individual and separate, it may seem like any keyword could fit any house and 5th house "romance" could just as easily be "sex". But if we look at the chart as an evolving process of life, the keywords normally assigned to each house make more sense. (This is a shortened version from the full version posted on the astrology course section http://www.linda-goodman.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=display private&number=12&topic=000469 .)

The bottom part of the chart is about our "inner world"...about us as separate from others in the outside world...even though we may be aware of them. So, in the 5th house we still are not involved with others in the outside world, although we are INWARDLY aware of them and so "show off" to them in some way (such as in dating). But when we cross the dividing line of the 6th house and move into the 7th house, we step out of our "inner world" and move into the "outer world", where we start interacting with others around us. The first step in this interaction with others is "relating" to others (7th house)...being aware that there is "someone else" there...and the next step is to MERGE with others (8th house).

It is this merging (whether sexual or nonsexual) that causes the transformation, when two people come together to create MORE than there was before. That is the power of the 8th house...the power of the MERGING of ourself and another.

Merging transformatively,

Tim

Tim

That was an excellent explanation of how we progress through the Houses. Thank you

I think the 8th House planets also give us a clue of how we deal with the "fear of death" issue and possibly to corresponding events in our life as well. For instance, I noticed a long time ago that very often some circumstances prevent me from attending the funerals. May be it's a way of Jupiter giving me a chance to remember these people as I knew them when they were living rather than taking a "last look"

Per: I couldn't agree more with your view on the eigth house!

I have venus and moon in sagg in the 8th, also ruled by sagg natally, and I am not preoccupied with sex. In fact, I haven't had sex in many years. This contradicts everything ever written (that I've read) about these planets in this sign in this house. *shrugs*

8th house
Peri, you shine

Scorpio, Pluto, and the 8th house.
I guess you could say like the father, son and holy ghost
all different but the same.

I think we're missing the bigger picture here.
Peri and I are more "karmic astrologers"
while Tim's strength lies in Basic astrology and teaching
I honestly have a hard time looking at anything without reading into it the karmic "implications" which is so associated with the water houses.

I have a hard story to tell you but one that will clear up any misconceptions we may be feeling right now.

When I was pregnant with my oldest son
my father died. Saturn was transiting my 8th house and conjuncting my fathers natal Sun. (he also had transiting Pluto conjunct the nadir)
6 months later when my son was 1 month old I had a very vivid dream (in this case Plutonian) where my father came to me and said he had seen the baby, was happy and told me that no matter what ever happened he would watch over the baby.
Being a Catholic I assumed he meant like a guarding
I was young, innocent, and had not yet started my astrological journey. At that point there was no predicting or foreseeing what was coming.

In my natal chart I have Uranus in the 8th house tightly squared a 5th house Moon (son). My baby (Scorpio Rising) died suddenly for no apparent reason (sids) and was buried on my fathers birthday.
This is so indicative of the 8th house, sex, (procreation) death, and transformation. (this is what Peri is talking about, you've got to dig deep in the 8th house and the 5th would figure into it.)

I hit an all time low that I was unequipped to handle (Pluto)
a lot of tears, a lot of "whys"
Pluto changed me and Saturn made me grow up

Which brings us to Scorpio and dealing with eighth house issues.
When you think of Scorpio you think of what depth the soul can go and still make it back alright. This is where transformation comes in.
Think about an all time low point either when circumstances have pulled the rug out from under you or you have reached that point of self-loathing where you have spiraled and you are forced to take a good look at yourself.
Different signs deal with it differently and some signs can't handle the depth and despair.
you either make it back or you don't
Scorpio does.
Their strength lies in hitting bottom
and (changing, transformation) and then rising up to the top. like a Phoenix.
Scorpio's strength is scary.

Why my co-moderator has chosen to countermand me on a public board is not clear.
I'm sure he has his reasons. But I still feel this is wrong,

"Placements in the 8th indicate that you may be transformed through sex" acoustic

again not through orgasm (through procreation), not if you believe the whole transformation process takes longer than a few orgasmic seconds.

Love, Lynda
