Never mind how careful you are behind the wheel or how long you've been driving, the signs of the zodiac may be bigger factors behind your ability to avoid car crashes -- or why you have too many.
According to a study by InsuranceHotline.com, a Web site that quotes drivers on insurance rates, astrological signs are a significant factor in predicting car accidents. The study, which looked at 100,000 North American drivers' records from the past six years, puts Libras (born September 23-October 22) followed by Aquarians (January 20-February 18) as the worst offenders for tickets and accidents Leos (July 23-August 22) and then Geminis (May 21-June 20) were found to be the best overall. "I was absolutely shocked by the results," said Lee Romanov, president of Toronto-based InsuranceHotline.com, who also wrote the book "Car Carma" which touches on the correlation between astrological signs and driving ability while doing the study. Romanov originally wanted to have some fun by examining astrological signs as a possible cause for the variance between insurance companies quoting high and low rates but didn't expect to find anything interesting. "Now, changing postal codes is far less significant to me than drivers of certain astrological signs," she told Reuters on Wednesday. Even age, another variable for determining insurance rates, is less of a consideration to Romanov. The cutoff line for being considered a higher risk driver is 24 years of age; 25-year-olds are considered not-high risk. "I'd rather get into a car with a 24-year-old Leo than a 25-year-old Aries," Romanov said. Leos, described along with the study results on InsuranceHotline.com/a10.html, are "generous, and comfortable in sharing the roadway." Aries, on the other hand, "have a 'me first' childlike nature that drives Aries into trouble." i can believe this...Im a smart driver but Ive had my share of tickets and one car accident (which I was not at fault for-someone almost drove me off a mountain)...but I thought Gemini and Aries would be up there too. IP: Logged |

Ha I knew it!I am new today but I have libra sister and dad who are so accident prone its hysterical. Oh and My step dad too. They have more accidents and driving offenses under their belts than anyone I know but wait....they trip over their own two feet whenn they stand up and fall into holes upside down with their arms pinned and can't get....they are....they just are accidents! Oh and my mom is Aries and I wouldn't get into her car for nothing. I stand a better chance of survival jumping from a plane without a chute. Sorry...am I coming on too strong..... Plutobaby

I'm the most fast and sometimes reckless driver and I've never ever been in an accident or gotten a ticket. *Oh, and my road rage probably doesn't help. I'm a totally different person behind the wheel.

RIDICULOUS!!!!!  I've had ONE accident and ONE speeding ticket in over 30 years of driving!! There's got to be more to it than Sun Signs (as usual) Not quite the same as this one??

A previous study I had read put geminis as the worst and caps as the best......meh, methinks this is hornswaggle.Also, just cause there's "more" doens't mean its statistically significant. Also, the more could just be more people born in april. IP: Logged |

Wish I could find the link but all-state did their own study of best drivers to worse based on astrological and they had cancer first taurus, I don't remember them all I remember virgo was the worse as gemini was down there too.IP: Logged |

Wouldn't it be feasible that someone who lives in a large city would have more accidents than someone living in the country? No matter what their sun sign was?
Myself I think factors like that apply more than astrological signs when it comes to accidents.

i don't know, i consider myself and okay driver but not the best driver.I think it depends on who's doing the testing, what the test is about and what the parameters are. Yesterday, i heard my mom say she heard cancers are the best drivers. ya, right shes too slow....which gives a clue...on my sun sign... gemini sun. people drive way to slow up around were i am speed limits 80km/h on some roads here, but people drive 60 on them must be more cancers... which causes traffic to start.. slow drivers start traffic....its more dangerous to stop then it is to keep going. but some days i drive slower, it depends on my mood, today i had to hand in a my programing project before 5pm, and i rushed as fast i could, on the way back i was completlly relaxed and let other drivers pass me. Ehhhh... I won't get in a car with an Aquarian anymore- no offense, I am sure there are some focused, attentive Aqua drivers, but I have had 3 different "ohmigod we are going to die" moments with 3 different Aquas. I was always white-knuckling it with them.I have a theory they are better drivers when there is no one else in the car. MK IP: Logged |

Hehe... Aries here LOL. But I drive very carefully, Cappy rising style. And slooooow.
I agree about Aquas. My father, although Cappy rising as well, drives like an Aqua, really fast, like he's involved in some chase or something. He had 3 car crashes and some speeding tickets. I always say a pray before we head for a long road.
I think earth signs are the best drivers. They may not be very sociable with other passagers, but they're always focused on the road.

There are other studies out there, and at least some of them go by reported incidents, which may not actually reflect ALL incidents.IP: Logged |
