This is a very interesting thread!I think opposites attract when the 2 people have goals in common for the relationship.
For example, im a virgo,with mars,venus in leo,libra asc; he´s a libra,with venus in virgo,asc in cancer and we have our south nodes in the same sign.
we are very different as persons in the world and day to day basis but we see and feel each other very deep. Our values and ideals are very similar,and whenever we fight about something,we always have that affection,understanding and care for each other,that help us to balance the hard aspects of our sinastry like:
our moons opposes
our mars squares
his sun ssextils my uranus/my sun squares his uranus
his venus squares my nep/my venus trines his nep
my venus squares his uranus
i know this is all very bad ( concerning possible unfaithfullness and ilusions).
but his sun,mercury and venus conjuncts my asc; my moon trines his venus and sextiles his asc; so there are always aspects that balances others.
I dont believe that this is written, i believe we work torwards the ideal we have,the goals we want to achieve with that person.
My neptune being the one it´s being squared, doesnt turn me on an unfaithful person because im not capable of that,and i know i wont never do that.
Cause i know who i am and who i want to me to that person,and the future i want to have with him.
So, i think opposites attrack but must have to exist the will to make the relationship work and be more and more perfect
