I have a question... I've always thought of mercury as the way in which we communicate to others, but does it also represent how we receive information/communication from other people? If so, how does this work? I have mercury in Taurus and I feel like I process information a bit more slowly, whereas my bf has mercury in Gemini and he receives it very quickly and processes it actually TOO quickly a lot of the time. So he'll miss the point of what people are trying to say, or dismiss it as not being the truth in some way. What's going on with that... anyone?

Wow he sounds a lot like me!!!right now I'm trying to read a book on building c++ Windows Applications, but i ended up skipping half of the book, thinking I already know half of it. Now, id say proibbly he must want communication to be clear, consise and to the point quickly. IP: Logged |

>> Mercury/Gemini/III, this placement gives me the ability to TALK & TALK and talk I have an opinion on just about everything, & if I don't I can make one up. I tend to absorb information, and process it quite fast, however, my Taurus Sun can push forward & take it's sweet time processing information if (usually) there is some action or movement required on my part. Mercury in Taurus here and yeah it seems I process the info a little too slow or its lost in oblivion. Seriously have some doubts about that placement, seems to hinder me in many ways. I'd think I'd be quick to give some feedback but no I take forever to regurgitate anything so much so just like a slow ass bull. Then when I get irate, yeah it comes on like the bull and splat everyone is getting it and still my words become stammered mainly because the madness just runs right through all speech. The voicemail made its point but I didn't nearly say all that I wanted. I suppose it made very little sense. Sounds so piecemeal. Weird. lmao...Does this sound about right? ------------------ "If you believe, you can achieve." Tupac IP: Logged |

Mercury in Gemini(house 12).I don't talk a whole lot(thanks to it being suppressed in house 12),but I analyze EVERYTHING!!"Why did so and so do this" or "Why did they say that"? "What did they mean by that"? People may get the impression that I have nothing to say,but in my head my mind is goin a mile a minute!Gemini Rising contributes to this I'm sure.My Mercury is actually just 2 degrees away from being on my Asc.,but it is officialy house 12.------------------ S:Taurus ASC:Gemini M:Scorpio IP: Logged |

Add me to the pile. Merc in Taurus here Mine is retro in the 9th Part of a T square, I feel it most as taking so long to make a decision. When my gut is usually right without all the processing. In Yoda speak I would say 'Two way street communication is' IP: Logged |

This is a very good thread...and quite interesting. I have natal mercury in leo in the 2nd house with: mercury square pluto (with an orb of 3 degrees) it's actually my closest mercury placement mercury trine uranus (with a big orb of 8 degrees) and mercury opposite jupiter (with another big orb of 9 degrees) I tend to speak very fast and I have a tendency to communicate in a very vibrant and perky way (at least that's what I've been told). I come off as if I'm always happy and sunny (even though the cap moon in me can be very depressed and gloomy). I do tend to absorb information very quickly...but also I have a tendency to look at and grasp the bigger picture as opposed to the little details. I have a tendency to remember everything but only if it's engrained into me. I also have an amazing memory...and I am very good difficult subjects such as calculus and trig...but I can't do simple mathmatical computations such as multiplication. IP: Logged |

Mercury in 8th house Aries here.. XP in conjunction with Venus/Moon, and trine with Uranus.. It's easy for me to perceive informations that are related to feelings specially.. My mind can be very slow when it comes to something that I'm not very interested at.. For example, if I'm studying something I don't like, I can't even concentrate on it, and so I'd have to study again.. T.T But when something can capture my attention, my mind process the informations so quickly and restlessly.. My mind is quite like a childish Aries - either it's something interesting, or else my mind doesn't focus lol.. XP IP: Logged |

Gemini Mercury in 9thI tend to get waaaaay too philosophical/deep into an issue. We can be talking about pie and I'll seriously get into an elaborate overanalyzation over why I like apple pie over lemon merange. lol. It's happened... I also like to know EVERYTHING. Every detail about EVERYTHING. IP: Logged |

I'm the same as moondreamer81 ~ Mercury in Gemini in House 12. I can sometimes talk ALOT and sometimes my mind will just race with so much information processing.I do take things in very quickly and sometimes when I am trying to explain something I can get a little ahead of myself. I am still perfecting the art of word economy. (How did I do? ) ~ Love IP: Logged |

Still no water mercuries? At any rate, mine's in cancer and in mutual reception to my virgo moon. Could explain my excellent long-term memory and why I don't normally miss details. I try to be very precise when I'm communicating but sometimes the opposition from Neptune messes that up. Some people think its great (that I focus on details), others find it maddening. I find it ironic that my mercury on its own is already influenced by virgo (being in the 6th).
But on its own, my mercury in cancer drive me nuts. Its another factor in why I'm so G0ddamn empathetic. When people speak to me I can easily pick on their moods (especially over the phone, and even online ), hidden motives, what was purposely left unsaid, and what-have-you. People used to come to me all the time with their problems but I can't do it anymore because while I make them feel better, I become drained and negative. They win, I lose. So when acquaintances are in a bad mood, I have to stay away because I really can't help them. I allow exceptions for the one close to me. But I tend to feel like people pester me more when I'm in horrible mood or I feel like crying. I don't know if this is just my own perception, but it seems to me that people want me to talk more or hang out with them more when I don't feel up to it. Its like they seem to have really bad timing (it shouldn't be a suprise that its usually my sag friends who do this). *edited to add*I also find that when I'm actually talking; the clearness and speed depends on two things: who I'm talking to and the language I'm speaking. For instance, I'm much better at speaking with the people I'm close to than acquaintances and people I don't know very well. And I talk much faster in my native tongues than in I do in English. I'm the same way, but I have mercury in cappy in the 9th. Other times, I don't feel like talking at all...like there is too much I want to say and it would take way too long, so I choose just to keep it light. I think that's the cappy (saturn)mixing with the 9th (windbag philosopher). ------------------ Sun Aqua, Moon Sagg, Asc Taurus IP: Logged |

Mercury in Scorpio (12th house conjunct Venus) here.I know I communicate in a direct, yet subtle way. Often letting someone know exactly what's on my mind without letting them know anything. I always try and lay both sides of anything out on the table before anything else (thanks to Venus), especially in an argument. And I always try and sound neutral, charming, and pleasing towards everyone and everything. Idk why, but no matter what, I'm always trying to persuade someone. Always... I also receive information in a skeptical and emotional way. I have an issue with processing things far deeper than the subject topic. For example: Someone can tell a joke.. "Why do fools fall in love?" And I'll respond with some deep psychological issue thats overrun our society, mainly stemming from our cultural conditioning in some way, that really leads back to one basic issue. I also have a tendency to take everything personally. I may or may not show it but everything gets filed away in a mental databank to use as a resource tool for when I'll need it later...and trust me, I'll ALWAYS need something later. It's only a matter of time.
I always want to "connect" with people on a mental level more profound than many people are willing to bother with. Therefore, I always take it personally. And assume the worst...and become suspicious of people and their motives. In typical Scorpio fashion, I'm known for knowing far more about everyone and everything than they know about themselves or me. I usually receive information through loopholes and "back alleys". Through ways that I wasn't intended (eavesdropping, an accidental "stumble" or "glance"), and I have a tendency for thinking everyone I come in contact with is an advocate for "double speak" Gotta love Pluto.

But my mercury isn't in scorpio, nor are any of my other planets. I don't understand this from an astrological standpoint at all. ------------------ Sun Aqua, Moon Sagg, Asc Taurus IP: Logged |

Gemini Sun, merc in taurus. I used to feel bad for my mercury placement, but I think it's misunderstood. It's a very good placement to ground my mutable nature.I process a little slower than typical Geminis at times, but when I think about something I *really* think deeply about it and much more thoroughly than others seem to. Then, I can translate it in a way where everyone can understand it. This usually creates something long lasting and constructive, as opposed to a flight of fancy or talking just to be chatty. So, taurus might be considered "slow" but it produces much more tangible and concrete results in the real world when used properly. I consider it "efficient and considering" instead of slow. Mustang, What aspects do you have to your Mercury?
Could also be a mix of your Aquarius/Sagittarius placements. I have heavy Uranus/Jupiter influence in my chart I have...Sagittarius AC, Jupiter in the 3rd (Kind of like Mercury in Sag or the 9th). Uranus (ruler of the 3rd) conjunct my AC. ------------------ Sagittarius AC, Sun in Scorpio, Moon in Leo IP: Logged |

OOOHHH natal Merc in taurus...how is that communication wise? U know who (Taurean) has a merc in Taurus Im merc in Cancer, i don't process information slowly but i am waaay better with metaphors than technical language. I always talk in code, love poems, everything should have double meanings, hidden emotions that sort of thing. While my bf who is also a Gemini merc (lol go figure) cant deal with all the loops and running around. He always likes to play with words though. Words are power to him. He will say one thing and then play on a pun but i didnt say this, its ur fault for assuming etc. INFURIATING!------------------ Sun-Gemini Moon-Scorpio ASC-Libra IP: Logged |

I have a lot of aspects to mercury, most of them bad. Merc trine saturn merc square uranus merc square pluto merc square chiron merc trine AC I have a lot of jupiter - mars, neptune and jupiter, all in sagg, in the 7th. My DC is in scorpio. I have my moon and venus in sagg, too. They are in the 8th house, which has sagg on its cusp. ...maybe that explains it...? ------------------ Sun Aqua, Moon Sagg, Asc Taurus IP: Logged |
