i'd have to agree. i know that not all Librans are going to be perfectly balanced, loving people. Everyone is on a different level on the evolutionary scale; but I do pretty much understand the way Librans know how attractive they are, and i've never met one who wasn't charming or good-looking.

Aquarians are very misunderstood. genius or insane? doesn't like you or just detached? even i can't figure them all out, and i'm an aquarius. go figure.

i don't believe libra to be misunderstood, i think libras have a tendency to misjudge others and use their abilities (like charm) to manipulate others.

See, that right there is the issue.

The whole issue with minipulation is the underlining act of human tendency in geneal, and is not specifically squared on Libras and most often then not, Libras tend to use logic to get to their goals, not minipulation IMO (depending upon the person's chart layout offcourse.)

The most misunderstood signs IMO is the water signs plus Aquarius. Libra is the one everyone likes, the one who always seem to fit the "social norm" or what is socially acceptable if you catch my drift. Of course, this is without considering the chart of the person. I'm aware there are libras with heavier influences. And again, this is just my opinion, I'm not trying to press this as a fact.

A bit offtopic:

Ah but you have to consider the times offcourse too . The term social norm itself has quite turned into a hypcritical statement since most successful people of the world aren't at all what one would generally classify as "socially Adept." Pfft... Just look at Chef Ramsey's persona; The guy would make the god of war look like Betty Crocker Lol! (even if he puts it all on as a show.)

IMO, this has opened the room to people who question socailly adaptable behavior of a Libra due to the probable fact that they themselves may be plauged with quite a bit of self-doubt and self-image issues. Libras aren't out to convert people in the all so ever bright aura of a Venusian cult or something LOL! (Although I don't think a person would complain if we were to give the offer ; hey... The Corinthians enjoyed it quite a lot .)

Xodian you really thought this out - You must have been put in the position to question yourself time and time again, and found yourself digging deep, asking why do I offend people they way I do? I agree with your analysis of the Libra nature - they do think in the very same patterns you outline here. Thanks for that. The thing is, it's not that Libra is wrong, or illogical, or unintelligent, or anything like that. The only thing wrong with Libra is that he is cold. He has never been swept away or passionate or at the mercy of his emotions in any way...and good on him. He'll bend his sense of reasoning at will, but never will he be at the mercy of anything - idea, person, fad, company, whathaveyou...For those of us who feel, and are occasionally impulsive in love, life whathaveyou...that's terrifying. So, we'll only be with you for as long as it takes to figure that out. To figure out that you are cold, and you weigh things by a different scale. ..... Ok that's not fair. I know Libra men who are great husbands and fathers. I know a Libra man who is the best freind/boss/fishing partner/drinking buddy of a friend of mine's husband (her dad)

Libra's are all over the place. Apparently the way I feel about them is all over the place too.

Yeah, Libra is cold. I don't necessarily hate that though. Unless I love one, of course.

You don't know what is lacking until you're as close to them as you can possilby be. Even then, it's hard to describe, the coldness. They seem freindly, and say warm things....but....I dunno. There's this coldness.

I know it may sound a bit too cruel but you never find Libras say those sweet things again to you, they move on to another person to provide their goodness and as a result the partner in question feels betrayed.

This struck a chord with me because I've had Libra males accuse me (a Sag female) of that type of betrayal.

In my life, I've had 4 experiences with guys going really hostile and psycho on me. Every one was a Libra. The situations were similar. We'd be casual acquaintances, getting along fine, and then I'd pay less attention to them or turn down an offer to go out with them, and they'd act as if I had just broken off an engagement to be married or something. It was nuts. I hated the hostility. I'm not into dramatic environments whatsoever.

I played a role in this too though. I used to be a lot more detached, kept guys at arms length, let them take all the emotional risks. So I guess it p*ssed off the Libra's sense of justice. But still, their reactions were over the top.

I'm thinking that they may have had strong Scorpio or possibly Taurus placements too, and were having a tough time balancing their detached feelings of universal friendliness and charm with their more focused, deep emotions.

But I don't think it's a coincidence that these events haven't occurred in the last few years when I've learned to make my platonic intentions clear.

Also, I've had great friendships with several Libra men and women. I don't want to give the impression that I think those other examples are at all representative of the sign. What always confused me was how un-Libralike they were.

So a little thing like being socially adaptable makes one the most misunderstood by society as a whole? I mean call me crazy but that sounds like an oxymoron. Remember that libra is a social, almost-non-emotional, overly rational, and extroverted sign: four things widely accepted by society. Oh, and lets not forget that they easily fit in because of that little thing called charm + agreeableness. IMO until you've walked down the opposite path, don't talk to me about being the most misunderstood. I'd sooner give that crown to Aquarius....and then maybe the water signs.

Ok, we are getting off topic!

I do have to agree with Dulce. I don't for a second think Libras are cold (not that they wouldn't be). My mother is a Libra and I've never found her cold. Actually, I think Libras make excellent parents! I've met other Libras; they are extremely loving.

I also don't find Aquarius to be misunderstood...a little weird maybe...LOL.. but they're incredibly honest(I've worked with one for 4 years now).
Again, that's just my opinion. In my experiences, I've found Scorpio to be the most misunderstood.

Ok my hackles are up a bit now...grrr!

Libra is cold? - I think this was addressed by the fact that we are the only inanimate object of the zodiac, we are scales, we balance, we make a judgement, and we go with it... Cold? No logical? Yes
Libra and passion? - no I've never been led by fads, however I am extremely passionate about the things I believe in, whether that's a project I'm working on, a belief system I have or a person I love.
Someone said we are generally good parents, thank you I call Libran mothers, Lionesses, fighting to the death to protect their little ones in the face of societal disapproval e.g. after 2 years of battles with my daughters school I pulled her out and teach her at home because they didn't like her dyed black hair a facial piercings! My daughter has a right to be an individual and I defend that no matter what!
Now the relationship/flakiness thing - I think this is because we are very loyal to those who stand on our pedastals. We would do anything for a friend, 3am phonecalls, driving 30 miles at 1am in the pouring rain to rescue a stranded mate, I totally spoil my partners (when I have one ), not just materially but emotionally and the detatchment comes when we don't receive that loyalty in return - we withdraw, we think it over, we nurse our deep seated feeling of betrayal and then we detatch to protect our hearts.
All signs are misunderstood to a certain degree, but it seems to me that Librans are looked at as the baby of the family, cute and pretty and getting everything they want - so not true... Give one a chance to be your friend/lover, you will be rewarded with unswavering loyalty and extravagant, unforgettable birthdays and christmases We LOVE extravagant gestures (giving as well as receiving)

I don't think I agree with the notion that Libras are unemotional (think about Eminem, Susan Sarandon, Carlos Mencia, Bernie Mac, Ty Pennington, etc). I think a lot of Libras are firey in a way.

If you think Librans are cold and unemotional, you are just plain wrong. I personally have my sun plus 3 other planets in Libra and I have to exert determination NOT to get swept up by my emotions all the time. I cry just watching someone else cry or even watching a commercial. As for love, I think I hold a special record for tumultous relationships. If I'm interested, I usually love you or hate you but I'm never indifferent. It could be the Scorpio rising or the scorpio venus at 29; I don't know but I think the cold label is pure BS.

^^ couldn't have said it better myself. This whole thread is about taking every less-than-flattering thing anyone might have had to say about a Libra and trying to justify or deny it, in typical verbose Libra fashion. I suppose it's just that Libran need to be liked by everyone.

I find Libras to be envious people. Also, they are not any more objective than the next person; they take things extremely personally. Which explains this thread. Some people on this board have expressed their opinions on Libras, and the OP obviously took them personally enough to make this great big thread out of it, and argue about it, instead of letting everyone be entitled to their opinions.

Or is that a misunderstanding on my part as well?

And thus it begins...

Notice how the entire context of the topic has been turned around for no plausible constructive reason what-so-ever. Instead, in input that being thrown in is in the very sense offtopic and has nothing to do with what we are discussing in the first place. How very... childish.

There were quite a lot of repeating resentment on the sign as related to the problems stated in the first post and people were quick to point out the short commings of the sign without even taking a look at the driving characteristics of it. So I decided to throw in a different POV. Now... people should respond in a more rational sense and actually give input as related to the topic; After all, this is a message board.

Lol! Oh comeon Zala babe... To a highly emotionally afflicted sign, cold could mean a whole lot of things; right down to not being able to cry over a death of a cockroach per-say (and don't anyone begin with me on that... Yes it is a joke.) Objectivity has its advantages more so than disadvantages.

Considering how many Libra's feelings are getting miffed here, I'd have to say that cold and detatched doesn't really seem to fit as a general description of Libra. LOL

I have a stellium in Libra and in Scorp. I wish I could be emotionally detached. However, I think the Libra influence does help me keep on a more even keel when I am feeling emotional - and it's a huge help to analyzing my feelings.

As for promiscuous...I've never heard that, and I've never known a Libra to be that way - granted I don't know every Libra on the planet, but in my exp. they're not like that at all.

There is the matter of Librans supposedly being in love with love - I think if anything that can lead to forming hasty emotional attachments which are just as hastily broken when the Libra "wakes up" from the love-induced haze and starts to analyze/intellectualize the situation. But I think the same could be said for several signs.

The irony about this entire statement is that it is probably the most un-objective one I've ever heard. And the clue is in where you refer to being emotional as an affliction and also hwere you say objectivity has more advantages than disadvantages. Real objectivity would be looking at both the good and bad side of emotions and objectivity and thus seeing how the could be equally good and bad. But maybe I should not be saying this seeing that I'm not exactly the picture of objectivity myself.

And as such if you would notice, it wasn't ment to be a serious remark at all. Just a spur of the moment humor.

People tend to refer to objectivity as just a non-emotional detached state of mind where as in usual cases, emotions are well undertaken in every objective decision. However, in a usual democratic solution the idea of utilitarianism needs to be applied.

However, that doesn't mean a person can't express his/her opinion on what one may consider a one-sided argument to a view point (in this case, on the air sign itself.) So don't let it rub you the wrong way Dulcio .

You see, it was mainly the 'most misunderstood' statement and then the thing about emos kind of irked me. The 'most misuderstood;' because form I've observed in life, I honestly don't feel that libras have that tough a time in society as compared to say....a cancer. I feel that are generally accepted by society because of certain attributes I already mentioned above. I think cancer gets it way worse from people just for being moody and emotional because its something society never accepts. And of course, this just speaking stereotypically of libra (and cancer) in their pure essence. I'm aware that people have other influences besides the sun and there are heavily emotional libras (and other airsigns) and emotionally-lacking cancer (and other water signs)*edited to add* You know, I don't believe there really is a such thing as a person who doesn't feel (I know I'm stating the obvious). However, I do believe their are different levels of emotions, depending on the individual. And again stereotypically, libras are said to be unemotional but I don't think that can be realistically applied to real life. I do know of some who are very expressive, including one leo mooner is very...I want to say.....exuberant??? She is Italian though and those with Mediterranean [Latin] influence know how it gets with emotional expression in our families.

But back on topic, this goes back to the emo thing. Now, I understand that you may have been speaking of the "stereotypical emo" endorsed by MTV or seen on MySpace, but I honestly don't that black eyeliner, clothes, and a couple of piercings automatically makes someone an emo. I'm not saying that emos can't do that, but I'm saying I don't think the clothes makes the person. If you want me to be honest, I think that some people who think they're "emos" are just drama queens looking for attention. That being said, you have to remember the TRUE definition of an emo, which is not really someone who thinks being happy is a bad thing, but someone who BASKS in deep feelings and thinking. I don't really consider that weak, I think that's what rubbed me the wrong way.

Hi all

i must say that i havent red all the posts of this thread, only some.

Im a Libra rising and im with my Libra guy who has Cancer Asc.

I must say something of my justice about the Libra as a misunderstood sign.

I agree with that.
People say Libra is a person who is very much into short term relationships and that are not easily seen in an longterm. That may be deceptive and detached???
My guy is everything but that - he´s only into longterm and considers the most shocking thing to be deceptive and unloyal torwards people. He´s a very sweet and caring man who loves to be understood and emocionally in tune with their loved ones.
Funn yor not i consider myself much more indecisive that him. He´s very confident and makes quick decisions most of the times.
Cold and detached?? - not at all for the contrary. I see all my Libra´s emocional turmoil,he just thinks that can hide it from me - but try to lok on his eyes whenever he´s afraid of loosing you - you´ll see what kind and amount of Love they can hold on their deeper levels of their being.
Libras seek understanding and respect - key words to them - and whenever feel threatnened there can be no stone left after the storm!
Promiscuous?? - i dont know any ther men who has such a loyalty and faithfullness than my Libra - the worst thing we could do to each other is to be unfaithfull, disrespecting our feelings torwards each other.
Libras worst fear is to be heartbroken and alone. When they LOVE,its for life and if for some reason their castle falls apart, they will never forget - the person and the actions - they give IT ALL to the person - and expects nothing less than that.

Buy yes...Libra guys are so GORGEOUS i must admit that their charm is SOMETHING to make us out of air in our lungs hihihihi

Libras arent superficial - they like art, beauty and luxurious environments - that isnt a crime

Manipulation? No...i think not. That seems to me more of a Scorpio maybe..

okay...and your justifications were how all libra's view themselves, not how others view libras or how others feel when the 'social sign' libra treats them in a certain way.

Honestly, if you take what everyone has said and the actual state of being misunderstood, its a social disability. And,
Diandra, you made it clear, and astrology itself makes it clear that libras are the most socially prominent sign in the charts. So therefore, libra uses its negative qualities to potray that their misunderstood to gain the sympathy & strength that they lack. (signs like pisces, scorpio, and capricorn would have that)

And see what really ticks me off, is that libra's proclaim themselves as this and that and goregeous and lovely and all charming, but truly, beauty is not real, its in the onlookers or consumers perception of what is. All and all, i think libra's naturally manipulate people's perception of beauty, as to create a general standard of beauty, and to form people's expectations of the world of beauty: cosmetics, fashion, skin care, organics, things like that. And without libra, there wouldn't be consumers.

So we do appreciate you, but we just don't like it when you proclaim that your misunderstood, like your entitled for someone to fix it for you. Being misunderstood is life, everyone goes through it. Big girls don't cry.
