While most use the map looking for the hot spots i.e. the Most aspected planet/location...a different view is held by Robert Couteau. Here is a Quote in part from ... In earlier versions of The Role of the Least Aspected Planet, I spoke of the LAP as occasionally representing an untriggered energy. Further observation, however, has proven that the LAP is rarely–if ever–untriggered. The LAP is active from the moment of birth (the moment symbolically portrayed in the horoscope). It is the central symbol of who we are and of what we are meant to accomplish. Relocation to the astrocartography line of the least Aspected planet will reinforce or further highlight this energy, but a better way of speaking of this is to say that when people are instinctively drawn to living under the LAP line (as they so often are), what we are witnessing is a dovetailing of inner energy (psyche) and outer symbol (astrocartography).
I live quite far from my birthplace, California- to the eastern seaboard,.. so this has always been of huge interest to me. I also have a packed 9th house (Jup/Sag house) that includes Sun. This represents travel related themes ..both physical/internal. Some Betty Crocker cookbook astrologers also tell me that I am likely to hook up with a foreigner
All that aside I thought this a great page for a point of view that includes persons and events where location sparked. And in a way that you may not think. LAP or as he calls it Least Aspected Planet.
I am lucky enough to have visited most of the 50 states. But I have to tell you the Pacific NW, particularly-> Carmel, Big Sir, and Monterrey have a huge draw for me. I will have to wait to become a zillionaire in order to afford property. My cartography ((on Astro-D)) tells me it is a "transcendent place to retire" P.S. he uses Pablo Picasso as a prime example of not attaining or perhaps utilizing his genius until he re-located to his LAP zone.

Very interesting article!!
quote:
While the least aspected planet reflects one’s greatest talents and potentials for success, the MAP [Most Aspected Planet] often symbolizes the principal shadow issues and energetic blockages that we encounter in life. Most aspected planets signify a tendency to overdo things or to place an excess of energy into something that does not reflect psychic wholeness (our true life-task). The MAP resembles a split-off or autonomous agent: one that doesn’t work in harmony with the other planetary energies or with the central focal point of the psyche. Most aspected planets reflect hyperactive yet useless efforts and expressions of psychic energy, while least aspected planets reflect a more productive and meaningful manner of expressing our creativity. Psyche is a field: one that operates within time and space and between soul and matter. In some way, psyche is reflected in physical matter and the outer world. If this is so (as quantum physics implies and as depth psychology explicitly states), then we carry the LAP symbol internally, just as we personify its essential nature in our outer movements. On the mundane level, this may mean relocating to an area that falls under the line of the least aspected planet. The most aspected planet (MAP) often absorbs so much energy that it short-circuits the proper functioning of the horoscope, i.e., the bundles of psychic energy symbolized by the planets.
(**sends shortcut to Desktop for study of all the chapters** )

I guess my LAP would be Venus -- is yours Saturn, Node??

Saturn? Yes in the Natal. the extensive page includes the role of the #2 LAP, as well. So I should re-locate to
  • Ireland - gee that's me roots! But it's a Sq- probably drink too much
  • Winnipeg Can
  • Acapulco- I knew I flamenco'ed in a past life!
  • Oklahoma - too flat!
  • Central Russia - Chernobyl? No way!
  • Central India- oooh.. a flexible mate!
Actually in my chart is kinda hard to tell....every body has a major # of aspects. Mostly square's! Separation... I gotta look into that.

This is so interesting to me. I don't know why, but I've always been interested in astrocartography.

AG did a relocation chart for me and it shows where I'm living now as a "hot spot" for me, but I hate it here.

Time for more research.

Thanks for sharing Node!

Spry: " but I hate it here" ... Why do you hate it there? And where did you move from? I am sorry to hear it nonetheless. I never embraced where I live now. And I have been here most of my life. Whenever I re-visit CA I always feel home. But I am a sensory oriented person. Very much in tune w/vibes. Hope the LAP gives you some insight.....

Zala- Thanks for having me Pull up the Pullen!- It is indeed Saturn (by a hair) I spend so much time looking @ other peeps charts... I forget what is in my own!
And I noticed that Pullen Dude also tells me that I do have a Grand Cross. I have always counted it... but others....in particular the opinion of a kf w/ lots of experience told me it should not be counted. But my intuition told me otherwise. Pullen says yea. (why I should be happy about confirmation of a G-Cross is indicative of my twisted humor)
TY- Z you always lead one to a better understanding........ *There is an enormous amount of info on those pages. It deserves/requires time to assimilate. His techniques and research are incredible.

My LAP is saturn (unless I count chiron and TN) and I don't.

I live on my saturn-ascendant line and I hate it here. I always have felt like this wasn't home and I should be somewhere else.

I think it depends on the character of your planets...where they're located and their aspects. My saturn is in the 12th/1st house and that makes living on my saturn line bad, LAP or not.

Are you guys counting planets like chiron?

My LAP is Jupiter.
So, best places for me could be
Calgary
Edmonton
Salt Lake City
Las Vegas

That is very interesting!

I`ve never ran across astrocarthography before, but it is intriguing.

However, I applied all the orbs the author recommended and those aspects, including the minor ones. And applying those tight orbs, I got a surprising result, actually.

Sun: 1 1 0
Moon: 0 3 2
Mercury: 1 0 0
Venus: 1 1 2
Mars: 1 2 2
Jupiter: 1 0 1
Saturn: 1 1 0
Uranus: 0 0 0
Neptune: 3 0 1
Pluto: 2 0 2

Wow, I never knew I had an unaspected Uranus!

it all depends on the close orb for the sextile the author suggests (3°). My URanus actually has sextiles to Sun, Mercury and Venus, I have always counted, but it appears they have been too wide (5°).

So, I guess i have a primary planet and that is Uranus. But what is my secondary?
Is it moon, because of the lack of major aspects (but there are 5 minor aspects)?
Or is it Mercury? But Mercury has an exact conjunction to Sun?

Anyway, I guess Neptune would be my most aspected planet then.

However, how do I know now which country or city would suit me best?
how did you find out all those cities and countries and states?

DD - Looking at figures from my Astro win Prog - I'd say your LAP's are 1)Uranus and 2)Moon
Then at astro.com, extended charts sextion you choose 'special charts' and then select a region from the drop down box and that will show you a map with lots of coloured lines then you match up your LAP with the appropriate lines.
Hope that helps

Node, I was born on the East coast and we moved to Arizona when I was very young. Love the 364 days of sunshine, hate the 110+ heat for half the year.

Take this month for example. It's September, and where most places across the country have started cooling off, we're still in the triple digits!!

It doesn't help that I'm in one of the fastest growing cities either. Growing up here was great. Lots of farms. Lots of fields of cotton and roses. I've always been a small town/country girl type. We have raised all kinds of animals from the "normal" (horses, pigs, cows) to the "not-so-normal" (african turtles, exotic birds of all kinds skunks, and ferrets). I had a peach colored skunk that was just the sweetest thing!

So, you see, I feel trapped in this concrete and asphalt. I want to wake up again to my beloved draft horse's whinny and the rooster crowing. Not car horns, tire screeches and sirens.

I want to grow my own nut trees and try my hand at gardening somewhere where the soil is more likely to yield success. I loved Washington state. I felt alive and happy there, but that was over 15 yrs ago. I don't know if it would be the same if I went back there now.

My sister has what I always only talked about. She has her own mini-farm. The past 20 yrs it was in the sticks. Now they can't build houses out there fast enough I gave her the idea and she did great with making a "fairy land" beside her house. It's such a beautiful, magical little spot. It's loaded with plants and dwarf trees of many types that make a natural canopy for the fresh spearmint and there's a pond with a waterfall. Butterflies and rickety looking birdhouses and ladybugs galore!

*SIIIIIIGH!!*

Ok, I've depressed myself enough.

AG was kind enough to do several different relocation charts for me over in the Labors of Love forum. How do I tell which is the LAP?

I found it interesting that in most of those charts, where I live now and where I'm from are in the red.

Thank you, Cat!

Your info helped a lot.

Hmm, I still am not convinced about Uranus being unaspected in my chart, but oh well, just let`s play according to the rules for once. So let`s say Moon and Uranus are my LAP`s. (For the MOon this is definitely true I`d think).

The Uranus-MC-line runs through
St. Petersburg-
now that is interesting. My mum has always dreamed about visiting St. Petersburg, and even though I never have been there, I felt drawn to it somewhat, too.

The Uranus-ASC-line runs through
Greece - north of Athen (fitting for a Latin-teacher, don`t you think?)

The Moon-MC-line is lying on top of the Pluto-MC line and both are running through:
Stockholm - Sweden (an email-friend lives there nearby)

Vienna - Austria
- I have been to Vienna once, and I must say, there`s no place I have ever felt so at home like there. I thought it might be because there were so many musicals. lol
However, it`s not entirely true; I have felt at home in England, too.

The Moon -ASC line runs through
Praha -
funny, ever since she was there, my mum is telling me that I HAVE to visit this city. It feels similiar to St.Petersburg for me; kind of dark, mysterious, but very appealing.

But as I said, I feel very much drawn to England, too. Yet, there is no line of my LAP through it.
Even though, there`s
the Sun/ MC and Mercury /MC line running through, and also the Pluto / ASC line runs through.
Well, I think with only one major aspect Sun and Mercury are quite "little" aspected, too, whereas Pluto could easily be one of the most aspected planets (square Venus, sextile Mars, quinkunx Jupiter, sextile Neptune, sextile NOde, conjunct ASC, sextile MC).
Maybe, it means something, too.

Interestingly Berlin is on the Jupiter / ASC-line (Jupiter is my chartruler and quite heavily aspected, too, with square Mars, trine Saturn, square Neptune, quinkunx Pluto, square NOde, square ASC) - and I planned to go back there for the winter holidays. It is easily the city I visited the most. Always felt comfortable there.

(cont.)

For other cities / countries I found:

Uranus / IC-line:
uncharted land in Canada and ocean

Uranus / MC-line:
Egypt (Kairo or Alexandria I believe)

Sudan - Khartoum-
now that is interestingly.
I happened to look up an actor, which I adored some 10 years ago, just yesterday. And he has been born in Khartoum. Funny coincidence.

Of course there are some other places like Australia, Japan, Brasilia, but those don`t really interest me to be honest.

Yeah those drawn feelings are strange aren't they...
My Pluto (my secondary LAP) IC line runs through West Indies and I've wanted to go to Jamaica my whole life

My Main LAP Venus, DS line runs through my hometown Adelaide in Australia - and it's certainly where I experienced my most significant relationship to date and where my daughter was born

I've lived in UK for a while now and never felt at home here, but love London, and I have lines running close to London though not my LAP lines...hmmm

Yeah, it`s strange.

Apparently, those lines of Sun/ MC, Mercury / MC and Pluto / ASC are running through England through Glastonbury, not far from Oxford. I visited Oxford once. Lovely village. I felt like I had entered another time. Very strange feeling.

HOwever, I always had the feeling I shouldn`t have stopped there, and now I see if we had gone farther, we would have ended in Glastonbury.
I never knew anything about that town, but just recently I dreamed of Glastonbury. And I dreamed of the Chalice Hill (didn`t know in the dream though, but Chalice hill looks exactly like the hill from my dream - I`m not even surprised anymore. lol).

And if there was one place in the world I would want to go to, then it would me middle England. Can`t help it.
Hmm, don`t know what those planet lines mean, though. THey are not the LAP`s.
But of course Mercury is my DCS-ruler, so maybe that figures in, too.

I also love London, but there is no line running through London. But interestingly the Pluto / ASC and the Sun/ MC line meet south-east from London. I think that might be very close to Glastonbury. Or am I totally wrong here?

Hmm, your Venus-DSC line, I think the Venus-ASC and Vneus-DSC line might be important for relationships, even if it wasn`t the LAP, but maybe stronger if it is.

WEll, my Venus-DSC-line runs through the ocean.
The Venus - ASC line runs through AFrica and Turkey - Ankara, to be exact. Never felt the need to go there, though.

According to Pullen, my least aspected planet is Jupiter, which is in agreement with previously having figured it out for myself.

My Jupiter/DC line passes just north of Washington, D.C. (Baltimore seems closest):

There is hardly a better place than the Jupiter/DC line for dealing with all people. Tolerance, generosity and freedom are the hallmarks for all private and business transactions. You will meet cultivated and intelligent people with a sense of humour, whose broadminded and liberal views deeply influence yours.

It is far from rare that such encounters make a deep impression on your life. You are quite frank and open about putting the considerable experiences of such people to good use, and are happy to receive helpful tips and make mutually beneficial plans. Mutually agreed arrangements relating to contracts or legal actions are positively affected along this axis.

Times are happy and relaxed with your life partner. You reach a new understanding, respect each other's interests and give each other space to individually unfold. Imbued by empathy and trust, your partnership becomes a growing source of constant inspiration.

Kepler's interp for me in Washington, D.C. is pretty positive.

My Jupiter/MC line looks like it goes through Alaska. I don't think I want to move that far north.

No Jupiter lines through Europe.

Rio seems like the only good foreign destination.

I forgot about Pullen, thank you, AG, for reminding me.

According to Pullen Uranus definitely isn`t unaspected; instead my least aspected planets would be Mercury (1 major aspect) and Moon (1 major aspect).

So, it would be :

Mercury / MC:
England - Bristol, Glastonbury, Oxford (somewhere in that area)

Moon / MC:
Stockholm
Vienna

Moon / AC:
Praha

Interesting, as I said.

AG, where did you find the interpretations you did above? Or is it your own analysis?

At astro.com, in the Free Horoscope Section there is one called Astro Click Travel. That one will bring up interps when you click on specific lines.

Well I guess for me that would be my unaspected venus. But are you only supposed to go by wherever its circled? Because in that case mine would be...

-A random Island in the Pacific
-somewhere in Mexico near the Yucatan Peninsula
-Somewhere in Northern Russia (err, no thanks, the cold never did it for me)

But If I go just by where most the venus lines, then my list would also include....

-The MidWest of U.S.A
-The Galapagos (that are uninhabited and full of animals)
-NorthWestern Africa (Burkina F., Niger, Algeria)
-Italy, SouthEastern and Central Europe
-Northeastern India,China, and Russia

There are probably a few places on this list that I'd want to go to but as for the rest....not really.

Node~Arizona is a beautiful state and I loved living in the mountain areas, but those places have become through-the-roof expensive! People come from all over the world to see the Grand Canyon. I lived here for 33 yrs before I finally went there. The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest are cool to see. To see a 50 foot long tree whose center is solid crystal....amazing!!

I just dislike living in the city and how hot it gets here. I hear of people who live in Toronto complaining about lack of sunshine and 8 months of winter. Well, it's the exact opposite here. We don't even get any rain from our Monsoon anymore.
