Grunge used to represent a certain era - an era where people had become sick of all the hyperbole and lunacy of the 80's(hair metal and such) and needed something simple but deep, sth that would convey emotion without much effort. But times have changed and grunge is outdated. Or "dead", as some would suggest.
( i remember reading an article where the chronological sequence of the music eras was described with astrological terms. And grunge had something to do with Pisces/Neptunian energy.)

Personally i am not too fussy about my music. I pretty much listen to everything, including techno, trance, goa etc.
It all depends on my moods, really.

Actually i quite like a bit of grunge - not all of it per se though. My tastes are varied.

MCM,

quote:
It makes you think higher, which is the upper octave of 'deeper'

Actually, it doesn't make you think at all; therefore it lacks substance.

I like to be relieved of thought to relax though. You're forgetting the path to spiritual fulfilment is QUIETENING the mind. Not banging your head up and down, and sniffing glue (which you love doing).
You sexy little minx.

haha. i've been a bystander of the forum for a while, but wow, i miss when this was about astrology.

everyone has interesting opinions, but that's all they are. you can't judge someone on an opinion, or you're just negating the term itself!

there's always a good intent behind any music...or else why would people spend time creating it? just because it may not sound beautiful or deep doesn't make it any less worthy of the title "music" pure and simple. there's simple music in noise.

thanks for the welcome!
i look forward to some actual astrology posts!

Exactly, which is why you like music that lacks subastance.

Umm, if you knew anything about grunge you'd know it's alot more than headbanging and sniffing glue.

But I'm not looking for spiritual fulfilment when I'm listening to my music, I prefer music that hits my soul...grunge does that along w/ alot of Latin and Marrabenta music. Music that's superficial (like dance, house, trance, whatever) w/ one repeating line of lyrics does nothing for me on a daily basis, has no substance, and can't hold a candle to grunge. End of story.

You see, people like you think life is ALWAYS a party, everyone should ALWAYS be happy, and can't handle "messy" emotions. Boy have I got news for you.....

Tidalwave,

welcome!

And sometimes people actually do post things that are astrology- related (on an astrology forum).
But don`t worry, it doesn`t happen all that often.

Seriously, there are some astrological gems hidden under the chit-chat and exchange of "verbal sweets", if you search through the pages of the other years.
