It is a week of new beginnings for our dreams and ideas as Pallas, Neptune and Mercury start to move forward after last week’s stations when they all turned direct on their tippy toes like ballet dancers. This week, Mercury enters Scorpio and Venus enters Libra, some favorite signs for these two, to add a positive if intense level of passion to our desires, love, work and world. Sun clears his square to Neptune and creates a trine to Uranus indicating clarity in his Scorpio thinking after our recent bit of cloudiness or depression or loss. Venus has a closing square to Pluto saying there is a cost of Virgo work for your passionate dreams to come true. There also is a new moon on Friday at 17 Scorpio, with the Sabian Image of A QUIET PATH THROUGH WOODS BRILLIANT IN AUTUMN COLORING.

Remember too, we are getting ready for Mars to go retrograde as he reaches his station degree and stops next week. Mars is stopping dead in the sky in action taking, security seeking, emotional Cancer. At the same time, Mercury races to catch up with Mars as the Sun seeks to use Mars’ energy from last week’s sextile and move out into the world. The combination of those three working energies around Mars plus the freshness of Mercury and Venus in new signs means we have powerful cosmic energy available to us to launch THE CONCEPT of new events, processes and procedures or BEGIN to take action in our world.

There is a lot of air, water and earth energy flowing around out there so while the IDEA (air) may have EMOTIONS (Water) supporting it to add to the ability to be physically CREATED (earth), the PASSION (fire) for them is not strong just yet. There is not much fire ~ only Jupiter and Pluto in balsamic approach to each other. Your new cosmic fire will begin to roar again in December when Jupiter and Pluto merge. Before their union, right now, is the time for drawing up the plans of what you want to create and build. It is going to take time to create and build. It always does.

Saturn in Virgo is reminds us that while those glorious ideas look fabulous or seem terrific, there is hard work, time and layers of meaning, practice and structure behind them. The “overnight success” received thousands of rejection letters before her book was published. The composer who labored away waiting tables at night as he wrote music all day. The actor showing up for thousands of auditions to create her dream, while trying to differentiate herself from all the OTHER tall, thin blondes applying for the Slim Fast commercial. You get the idea. We have an American fantasy of “overnight” success ~ fed by the vision of reality TV, American Idol and our culture of “want it get it”. And, yes, there ARE overnight successes. However, more often than not, true success is born of showing up day after day and doing your work. Toiling with your hopes in your heart. Doing the slogging parts as well as the fun parts. Showing up. Practicing. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice. Practice. And practice some more. Such is the message of Saturn in Virgo.

Saturn wants us to create a giant to-do list. Have you ever planned a wedding or a big event with myriad details? There are literally “Thousands of Decisions!” So many “Things to Look At”. Choices. Choices. Choices. What is your flower budget? Band or DJ? Buffet or table service? Photographs? Dress? Number of Bridesmaids? Flower children? Who sits where? Dealing with the in-laws and your own relatives about the guest list. You get the idea. You are in the process, between now and January of planning the next 13 to 15 years of your life. Think of it as a VERY BIG WEDDING. In fact, it IS your wedding to your life. You are getting married to the next 13 to 15 years of your life. Often we slip into or through our lives quietly and a bit unconsciously. Life seems to happen to us. We experience our days as a series of unrelated events. We may process our Life’s Meaning and endless cycles in retrospect when we look back on it over an astrologer’s table. Or perhaps we remember while reminiscing with old friends at a reunion or after facing a life ending event. Those things remind us life is short and there are no guarantees so make the most of it!

And, NO, you are NOT expected to KNOW WHAT YOU WANT for the rest of your life. However, you will be feeling like you are SUPPOSED to know what you want for the rest of your life. That is an important distinction. SUPPOSED TO versus ACTUALLY KNOWING.

When I was deciding where I wanted to go for college, I remember crying hysterically as it seemed like such an important decision! It was going to affect the rest of my life! I had no clue while all my good friends seemed to know exactly what they wanted to major in and where they wanted to go to school. My mother calmed me down, and got me focused on what I LIKED. Pick a college based on what you LIKE?!? What a concept! So we sat down with a version of Benjamin Franklin’s T-chart ~ likes on one side, dislikes on the other side. I made a list. When I got to the deciding point ~ two schools ended up being equal in their offerings, ~ I picked one because it had a winning basketball team! I knew absolutely NOTHING about basketball. I had gone to an All-Girls Catholic High School with a bunch of nuns so the idea of going to basketball games with boys intrigued me. Basketball games seemed like one of the things you would want to do when you were in college. Thus, my choice was made. Once I got to that college, I learned that going to basketball games actually was NOT that interesting to me ~ but I loved, loved, loved the college even if I was not very keen on basketball.

So trust in the heavens will you? Over the last couple of years, you’ve learned what you love or want to create in your life while Saturn went through Leo. Put that thing you learned you love into your life on a daily basis. Put more of that beloved thing, person, job, or work into your life. Follow your likes. Your chart describes your likes, what you are attracted to, what you want to do. Your chart holds the secret of your likes. Truth be told, not that I want to minimize astrology, one of the main things I do during a reading is affirm and confirm that what people are doing is actually their path. Your likes are your path! Or at least a very major part of your path. And that thing you are somewhat afraid of yet very drawn towards ~ that Saturn of yours ~ that is the biggest like of them all. So just do your Saturn! Do a bit of conscious Saturn each and every day.

Now, it cannot be avoided ~ there are likes described by our chart that are better for us than other likes. Each and every sign has good parts and bad parts. This is ALSO one of those choice points in time and in your life. Make sure to “Minimize the Bad Parts!” For example, IF you have a strong Neptune and are called to creative pursuits involving illusion, delusion and arts, please avoid the drugs and alcohol ~ the lower (and quite legitimate forms) of Neptune in our world. Add instead of a daily couple of cocktails or snorts, add time for music, dance, creation, meditation, chanting mantra or some kind of art to your life. Do not disappear or dissolve. Show up singing. Do not cry. Take a shower. You get the idea. Get yourself a book of good astrological keywords so you can push yourself in a productive direction of things ruled by the signs involved when you are feeling despair or desperate. For example, my friend Barbara has a very strong Libra Neptune placement in her chart. Right now, she is between her empty nest child of five children moving out and some new relationships arriving and forming. So Barbara has taken to singing and humming to herself to accompany herself through life. Collaborating with herself via music she sings to keep herself company ~ an excellent way to use that strong Neptune of hers!

Despair and desperation are part of the process right now too. Neptune does that to folks! People are going to be feeling like they have to make choices that are going to affect the rest of their lives. And truth be told, “We Are Making Choices that Affect the Rest of Our Lives!” Make sure to proclaim that to yourself in a loud, deep announcer-like voice! Do remember though, IF you tell people that, they might get as hysterical as I was those many years ago. It is all steps. Step by step. It is all process. Process by process. Piece by piece a life is assembled. Living life is like planning a never-ending wedding. Ask the unique, individual-to-you questions to get the unique, individual-to-you answers you are looking for. Ground it down to earth. Break it into parts and smaller decisions. Create your own Benjamin Franklin T-chart of likes and dislikes.

If you know what you want to do, GREAT! Help those around you that are in puddles of tears. If you do not know completely, or are not exactly sure what you want to do, know that you are right where you are supposed to be. You know what you like. The universe proposed to you during Saturn in Leo. It is time to plan your life wedding. Start, right where you are, to dig in and do the stuff before you that needs to be done to live your life. Buy a wedding/ life-planning notebook. Scribble ideas into it. There are no right or wrong decisions here. It is your life, baby, not some else’s.

To keep with our analogy of wedding planning ~ we do have the relatives and the people in your life to consider or at least pay attention to or listen to. You know how that goes! They ALL HAVE OPINIONS about what you should do! THEY ALL WILL EXPRESS THOSE OPINIONS! Remember, it is YOUR LIFE! It is Your wedding to Your Life! It is YOUR life we are discussing here! If you want to elope, elope. If you want to have your wedding on a beach at sunset and your mother hates sand and sun, well figure it out. You are a smart person. DO have your wedding on the beach with a special umbrella and create a carpet path for your mother and other guests to walk on. (Assuming, of course, that you even want your mother to come!) This is YOUR life ~ not their lives ~ your life! So live and plan YOUR life. You are not going to get far down the road before Mars stops ~ essentially your job right now is to start to book the location. Decide on what kind of life you want for the next 13 years and start looking for the location!

Monday, Saturn has a gift of brilliance and partnership with Juno ~ a to do list? A book of ideas for your life? Cool, you can do that! Venus builds to a closing square to Pluto giving her more ideas of how she wants to integrate her passions into practical and affirmative plans for her future. She‘s going to join with Pluto in January to start a new cycle. But between now and then she‘s full of ideas as she races to catch up with the Sun and Mercury. Remember all the people she was talking to back at the party when Saturn wanted to leave and was tapping his toes impatiently? She was gathering ideas back then.

Tuesday, wake up and record your dreams. They were important! Venus and Pluto were talking late into the night. Build on that to-do list of yours ~ maybe a big binder with parts that can come out? Moon in Libra makes the energy active if a bit harsh as she comes to square Mars getting ready to station in Cancer. It IS your life after all. Other people will always have their ideas of what they want you to do to live your life. You have to live your own life. It isn’t their life. It is YOUR life.

Wednesday, Neptune squares Juno after Saturn had his gift aspect with Juno on Monday. Often we think things are mutually exclusive. They are not. They are dual. Today duality appears. The cloud shifts. What you want to collaborate with is apparent. You can have your wedding on the beach. You only need to get a carpet to help people (your mother) deal with the sand in their shoes. A friend mentions a beach carpet rental place! Voila, problem solved. Yes, it is as easy as that! Remember, Saturn is in Virgo! Virgo is all about solving problems. Solving problems is the name of the game. A process can always be created to solve a problem. Or at least create a process to work with it. I am not going to mention that the issue actually is NOT that your mother does not want to go to a wedding on the beach because of the sand. You will find out the issue soon enough. So WATCH for the problem that surfaces today. Then create the “solution” for it. You are going to be wrestling with the problem of a bigger nature down the road apiece. Must take a stand some place and right here, right now, is when and where to do it. Sun’s trine to Uranus says the creativity comes from YOU! The Creativity does not come from them! So own and embrace your creativity. It is YOURS! Your very own and unique gift from the heavens. Moreover, you deserve to be recognized for being creative it even if it is just finding out where to rent a carpet for the beach.

Thursday, Venus enters Libra as Mercury sextiles Pluto and Sun has an aspect of brilliance with the South Node. Mercury communication and Venus love and money are in the same sign ~ although at opposite ends of the sign ~ Libra. This is called a semi-sextile. Semi-sextiles are working aspects of 30 degrees. You have to ASK semi-sextiles to help you or they do not. Semi-sextiles can be either 12th or 2nd house aspects on either side of the planet in question. Twelfth house aspects are our blind spots. Similar to driving a car, you need to look to your left to see if another car is in your blind spot before you change lanes. LOOK! Turn your head and look. Second house aspects are our talents and skills. We don‘t often know what our talents and skills are! Second house aspects are also the people riding in the front seat of the car right next to us ~ they can look to see if traffic is coming before we pull out. But, we have to ASK them to LOOK. You have to take action to get things to move today but move they will. Semi-sextiles require action.
Friday Mercury has a gift of home and hearth energy with Vesta. What is home for you? Where do you want to nest over the next 13 years? It is not going to necessarily be where you have been nesting the past few years ~ you have outgrown that nest. Venus has an adjusting aspect to strategic Pallas, who is just starting to move direct in sacrificial, creative Pisces. Sun joins with Pluto by declination ~ there is power in numbers and righteousness. There is power in values and beliefs. A house divided will fall. A house united will stand. We forget that sometimes. Who are you united with? Who stands with you? Who stands against you? What do you want? Saturn’s day, Venus has a squabbly aspect with Ceres. It is hard to defend what you believe to be right when faced with your security needs. But the greater security comes from following your true path even if it is not secure. Honest. I promise. That is one of those life conundrums! Follow your path even if it is not secure.
Sunday, Mercury enters Scorpio. Let the analysis of what you want to create begin! Let Mercury get all dark and twisty on you. Mercury is going into the underworld right now. Let him. He‘s the only planet who can enter the underworld without being affected. He is the messenger, in fact, to the underworld ~ traveling back and forth between the depths of our being and the world. Mercury loves to delve in to the gossip to get the dirt. Mercury also has an aspect of creativity with Uranus and partnership with Juno. Traditions provide security and routine ~ but sometimes they need to change. This is such a time. Change your traditions toward where you are heading next in the world. Jupiter supports the vision thing! Keep your vision in your head as you move forward. And Watch, Watch, Watch, for messages from the Sun (important folks in your life or your soul‘s purpose talking in your ear). Sun has powerful and clearing aspects with Neptune and Saturn. It all exists for a purpose and reason. You just have to figure out what the purpose and reason are~ and NO the purpose and reason are not to make you crazy. The purpose and reason are to help the evolution of the species. So evolve already!
Mundane:
The Writers Guild is going on strike! Hollywood ~ our very own land of Neptune and dreams ~ is closing down and picketing the corporations that now run the place. The vote by the writers to strike took place as Neptune trined Mercury in Air signs ~ communications, ideas, and their station to move direct. Makes sense astrologically. Saturn in Virgo means we will have MANY MORE strikes over the next two years as LABOR (the servants of an industry so to speak) are ruled by the sixth house energy of VIRGO. Saturn in Virgo means Labor (Virgo) wants to crystallize and restructure its deals with the authorities (Saturn). It is time to put a stake in the sand and take up the picket signs. As I understand it from my writer friends, the corporations (big media you better watch out ~ Pluto in Capricorn is coming!) are not sharing the media pie very well. Therefore, the writers are taking their balls, so to speak, or actually their pens and laptops, home. They are returning with a picket sign to march in front of the studio gates.

The writers (and soon to come the directors and actors contract) are seeking 1) Residuals for reuse of content (like replaying TV shows) on the internet; 2) Coverage and protections for original content (new stuff created for the internet.); 3) Basic protections so that when original stuff is created for the internet, they have rights. If they make an amazing character or show, they get the right to share in its success; 4) DVDs ~ Currently the writers get .3% per DVD, they are asking for .6% (Anne’s comment 3 cents to 6 cents per DVD seems reasonable to me!); 5) Enforcement of Coverage ~ Corporations need to honor the contracts they sign; 6) Expansion of Coverage ~Corporations need to cover stuff where writers are working without coverage. The two big areas without coverage are animation and reality. Those writers should be covered too.

On September 18, 2007, right after the mutable eclipses, Mars was at 24 Gemini and entered his shadow. Retrogrades are an opportunity to “RE” ~ a way to repair, replace, remend or redo. We get to think about and possibly re-do or re-create that which was previously cast in stone. Mars is our very own personal planet of how we take action in the world. In our charts, it describes the way be move, aggress, go for what we want and our sexual nature. Mars only goes retrograde every two years so the last time was fall of 2005, when he was moving backwards through the constellation of Taurus.

I remember during my first astrology reading, the astrologer telling me I would have a chance to repair a fraying connection with a major computer services client that was rapidly going south. I dismissed his information as foolish as I wanted to “fire the client”. The woman involved and causing all the problems was simply NOT the type to change her mind. And, frankly, neither was I. Actually, neither of us changed our minds. However, there WAS a reorganization (a lovely retrograde word with an “RE”) so she was not in charge of or able to influence my contract any more. Low and behold, an opportunity did come to repair the relationship as the planets involved went retrograde!

You will have such an opportunity about the situation(s) in your life that have appeared, formed and crystallized since the eclipses took place in late August and early September. It will take place in your late Gemini and early Cancer ruled houses or areas of life. Whatever the story involved, IF it feels like an un-natural or un-resolved energy, take steps to redo or resolve it once Mars goes backwards. You have until the end of January 2008 to redo things, as Mars is retrograde until then. You have until the beginning of April 2008 until Mars gets back to where he is right now in the sky. At that time, you will be ready to move forward towards all sorts of new stuff, full speed ahead and no holds barred. Until then the beginning of April, take time to resolve and release your past as Mars wakes up your actions and asks you to review them. Any and all planets found between 24 Mutable and 13 Cardinal are open to have their decisions revisited, choices questioned and actions offered a new or revised opportunity of how to act, move or appear in the world as Mars aspects them.

Think of it as the Universe acting like your Mother did, offering you an opportunity to make it right over the fight with your sibling (or whatever type of Mars event it was) and fess up/apologize or she’ll send you to your room. Or you can dig in and clutch at the choices and actions made because you are feeling insecure and not so safe. Often, when we are in a hurry or rush, we promise things we have trouble delivering on or perhaps take an emotional short cut because it seems easier. This is a great time to renegotiate those choices, decisions and contracts. Or to completely take your decision back or change your mind as your impetus to move forward will be changing.

This is also one of those times when folks are going to “need to take a break” or “require extra space” or be “feeling needy” or “kind of whiny” or “yearning for the good old days when we were happy” or “wanting to move back home”. Security blanket time. Emotionally we will be seeking a simple life ~ or a perhaps a time we perceived as being ’simple’. Let it go. Explore it emotionally. Indulge in the feelings of needing to retreat. Take or give the needed space. Do not deny or avoid the anger that surfaces. Mars retrogrades are delightful energies for getting you in touch with exactly how irritated you are about the whole situation all over again. Feel your feelings. Do not hide them. Do not bury them.

Let them have their own version of security ~ it will not work. But let them have it any way. Until Mars goes direct, they are not going to be able to hear you. And consider, and reconsider, IF you want to act on your own feelings. My advice would be to notice your feelings (especially the angry ones), park them in the corner until February and go off to do something else with all that revising, revisiting, reacting Mars energy. The therapists call it sublimation. Direct it at a diet. Redesign your sales plan for your business. Don’t you have a world of stuff you can get busy doing rather than whining about a situation you can do absolutely nothing about? So go do it. Go work on your to-do list. Plan your next 13 years of life. Get your space cleared out. Build your business. Once Mars gets back to the degree of 12 Cancer at the beginning of April, they will either be back at your side, or not. And, Mars, plus the rest of the world, will be ready to move forward. Between now and then, truth be told, there is not a darn thing you can do about it. Mars is retrograde for YOU too! So do retrograde things and let the rest of it sit in the corner until it is ready to move forward again.

Back to the upcoming Jupiter/ Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius which we talked about last week. We are still working the new Moon’s energy about what you want to create for the next 13 years of your life. I went and bought myself a lovely purple three ring notebook and added 12 dividers ~ one for each house or area of my life. I am in the process of taking the various houses and listing the kinds of things I would like to include or create in my next 13 years of life. I suggest you do the same. Does not have to be about the “fine details” ~ just focus on the big picture ~ the top of the mountain view so to speak. What do you want for your health and well-being, finances, skills, siblings, neighborhood, home, family, fun, creativity, children, work, pets, partnerships, mergers and sex life, travel, beliefs, authorities, career, friends, hopes and dreams and spiritual purpose? Not too hard. No rules. Just build yourself an overview.

This is your opportunity to take a conscious hold of a conjunction of an outer transpersonal planet like Pluto with Jupiter ~ the principle of expansion and abundance of Jupiter in his rulership combined with the nuclear reactor energy of Pluto at the last degrees of changeable, righteous bonfire. The conjunction starts a new 13-year development cycle in the house that holds 28 Sagittarius. And, RIGHT AFTER the Jupiter/ Pluto’s conjunction in late Sagittarius, Pluto enters Capricorn to begin a 13-year journey. Talk about a “manifesting in the world” set of energies! I do not think it can get much stronger than riding on the back of the planet of transformation as he enters the sign of cardinal, action taking, and building in the world earth after he joined with the god of abundance and expansion.

And, over the next 13 years, Jupiter is rolling around your chart, going through each and every house, bringing to bear on that house how you would like it to grow and expand. A year a house for Jupiter. So get your vision in place with the conjunction and fuel that Jupiter with Pluto‘s profound power. You can ALWAYS change your mind if you want to. But do the vision thing. Do the vision thing for ALL the parts of your chart ~ make sure to be balanced in giving attention to the various parts of your life.

I know, part of you is looking a bit askance at the last paragraphs. In your mind, you are asking yourself, ‘Has old Ortelee lost her marbles to a Neptune transit?’ Right now, you might even be still licking a left over Saturn in Leo wound and not feeling AT ALL like doing a big picture vision kind of thing for your future. And, no, I am not promising it is going to magically appear in your life via a magic genii or a winning lottery ticket. You are going to get there the old fashioned way ~ by working your Saturn towards what you want. But you CAN get there! Or at least have fun trying to get there! Saturn in Virgo wants a to-do list so he knows what to do. Sagittarius always wants an expansive vision and a series of goals. Pluto soon to be in Capricorn wants a REALLY BIG vision and extremely large pile of goals! So give it to them. Give it to the planets. Challenge them to live up to their potential! Kind of fun isn‘t it? Kind of like a Christmas list for Santa. You might not get every present on it but at least tell the bearded fellow what you want! Conscious living through astrology!

Monday, we have a very busy day via aspects between Venus, Mercury and Saturn with the nodes of destiny. Kind of intrigued you with that notebook of dreams idea did I? Good, go start to put one together. A page for each house is a start. A vision for what you want. Mercury likes the details ~ he also has aspects with Saturn and Pallas. If you go looking for shoes, you have an idea what you want to buy ~ height of heel, color, shape. So do the same thing with your life. Give yourself a plan. Hey, it can‘t hurt! Besides Moon in Sagittarius has wide open, long range dreams today. Let your Moon go wild! Remember Mars is stopping in the sky, so folks can be feeling the frustration and acting angry. You, on the other hand, are taking all that Mars energy very personally and telling him what you want to make you feel safe and secure in your life.

Tuesday, record your dreams into the book upon awakening. Mercury has lovely aspects with the nodes encouraging your dreams to be a bit more specific. See how easy it is? Moon in Capricorn grounds the dreams a bit. And gets Saturn paying attention. Gotta dream it to get it. Mars energy continues to build. People are very reactive all around you. Focus on what you want to create. Station energy is very, very powerful if directed like a laser beam at what it wants.

Wednesday, Sun joins with Juno at 21 Scorpio as Mercury argues up close and personal with Chiron. Wounds are apparent if we choose to partner with folks that push our buttons. Of course, the VERY reason for their existence in our life IS to push our buttons. Until we figure out how to push our own buttons, they push and we react and grow. Wouldn’t it be easier to push your own buttons? Get back to work on your dream book. Mars is stopped in the sky preparing to shift and go backwards. The heavens, particularly Mars, is paying attention to your dreams.

Thursday, Mars stops and pivots on 12 Cancer. Venus is busy with Juno, Pallas, and Saturn while Sun is busy with Jupiter. For the most part, the aspects are “WORKING” aspects ~ meaning they have stress but can also accomplish things with a bit of effort. They are NOT blocked ~ they are aggravated. But they are also able to see clearly. Direct that laser beam Mars wisely. This is a day when relationships can be blown up for no other reason than it is time for them to end.

Friday, Mercury has a working sextile aspect to Saturn and a bit of a stressful aspect to Jupiter ~ stress that can be resolved with action. You have to ask today! There is a very important thing you have to ask for today! Make sure to get it out of your mouth ~ on to paper or into their ears or out in an email. This is a great day for envisioning contracts and connections that you’d like to make too. Also if someone offers to connect you with a person, take them up on it. Saturns day has no planetary aspects but does have Moon in Aquarius eclipsing Neptune as she has working aspects with Jupiter and Pluto. Working aspects mean with a bit of a push you can get a great deal accomplished fairly easily. This is a LOVELY day to hang with friends, do work for the greater good, volunteer to help raise a barn, build a house, or clear out things you no longer need. It is one of those get a lot done days! And add more to your dream book! Maybe images? Or words? Or talk about your dream book with your friends so they start to create their own? Or have friends over to create dream books together? Sunday, Uranus has a working aspect with Ceres. Again, Ceres going retrograde in Taurus speaks to nurturing and helps create havens on earth for the creatures we co-inhabit our world with. That can be children, ourselves, our pets or the animals that share our back yard. Mars suggests to Vesta that actions taken today have long range impact. Venus has a closing trine to Chiron. What do you want to partner with? More ideas for your book? More understanding of how that which wounds us helps to create us. We can always put down the wound but the scar ~ think of it as a badge of bravery! A mark that you survived. You are alive and present and here on earth. So what do you want to do now? Take a deep breath and move toward it. It is that easy! Honest.

Mundane: Mars stations at 12:26 Cancer on two important Suns ~ the United States and George Bush‘s. Mars is the planet of war and violence, among other things ~ and seeks to take action, particularly when it is doing interesting things like stopping in the sky on a leader’s natal Sun. Transiting Chiron in Aquarius is moving up in George’s seventh house to form a Finger of God with his Progressed Sun at 12 Virgo, and his Natal Sun and stationing Mars at 12 Cancer outputting all that energy on to his Progressed Pluto and Natal Pluto at 11/12 Leo, near to his Ascendant. Fingers of God have fated qualities to them, even transiting ones. There is a element of feeling fated events are taking place.

I’ve kind of given up on my hope that George will not make it through his term to fulfill the old Tecumseh Indian curse that Presidents elected in a year ending in a zero don’t get to complete their presidencies. Besides, then we get Dick as President. Dick always has a heart attack when he starts a new job and he’s getting up there so Nancy Pelosi would be our new President. We aren’t going to be that lucky! Mars is retrograde!

At any rate, we are stuck with George sitting in front of our eagle crest. Mars is stationing right on his Sun. Mars and Uranus are forming a transiting Finger of God in his chart ~ affecting the 12th house of how we undo ourselves and the 2nd house of money, talents and skills. We can expect a fated occurrence that we are going to have to adjust to of a 12th and 2nd house nature.

One of the things George was actually good at back when he was a not-so successful businessman was driving the businesses he ran right into bankruptcy, and being financially bailed out. As of July 2006, the USA Mars went retrograde by secondary progression for the next 80 years. This will be the FIRST transiting Mars retrograde since the secondary progressed Mars retrograde took place in the USA chart. As we astrologers know, the natal chart responds when the heavens repeat the configurations in the sky. Our chart is going to be singing with the Mars retrograde.

I am not too sure there is anyone around who can (or wants to) bail out the good old US of A under the decisively inept leadership of George W. Bush. We’ve burned quite a few bridges. We‘ve alienated our friends as well as made more enemies. We owe a very, very large pile of money for the war. We have a huge debt. We don’t have much left in our line of credit or remaining to be sold off. Is there even anyone around who can or wants to save George’s butt?

Of other interest is the successful H Res. 333 vote to begin investigating impeaching Dick Cheney, which took place last Tuesday. Last April 24, when Jupiter was at 19 Sagittarius and before Neptune stationed to go retrograde, Dennis Kucinich introduced H Res 333. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have since petitioned the House of Representatives to demand impeachment of the Vice President. And 22 members of Congress have cosponsored H. Res. 333, the Articles of Impeachment against the Vice President. Last week as Jupiter sextiled Neptune at 19 stationing to go direct, Congressman Kucinich brought H Res. 333 to the floor of Congress for a vote, using a ‘privileged resolution’. It was voted on! It passed! H Res. has now gone to John Conyers’ committee. If Dick is the one who is actually running the country, this could be the Mars station story on George’s Sun in the 12th (the hidden leader behind the scenes) as well as the USA Sun. It is going to be an interesting week!

The Aquarian Moon keeps us in an independent mode this morning, making this a good time to practice keeping to yourself. The early aspects (EST) are not conducive to sharing feelings or communicating smoothly with others. Instead of pushing it, practice the inner discipline of silence. Meditation is the wise option this morning.

Mars went retrograde yesterday and he is out of bounds. He is in Cancer, putting the Moon in charge, and the Moon is also out of bounds. We are in completely uncharted territory. Look for where in your life all is new and unfamiliar. This is the retrograde Mars cycle. We are fortunate to be able to take a few steps backward now and align our Selves, mind, heart, body and spirit, with our newest avenues of self-expression.

If we are unwilling to retrace our steps at this time, the next couple of months are going to be pretty frustrating. The planets represent the outer expression of the way the inner energies are manifesting. A retrograde Mars means it’s time to review the action we’ve taken recently and realign it. There is no way to do anything else. You can insist on forging ahead, but you won’t get anywhere. Better to slow down and take stock of where you are, in preparation for the big push that will come in the spring.

A few of you have asked what this retrograde Mars cycle means if you were born with a retrograde Mars. Both lunar aspects can coincide with increasing exuberance, buoyancy and exhilarating feelings. This Moon Neptune connection prevails over the entire morning, with no other aspects to interfere or dilute it. Neptune has two sides, just like everything else. When we refuse to embrace the sensitivity and brilliant light he shines, we tend to want to escape, through dreaming, drinking, or worse. This is no time to run away. The door to the evolution of the entire planet stands open. Are you brave enough to walk through?

By early afternoon EST the Moon connects with Jupiter in a very positive way. Growth and wisdom are easily attainable now, if we’ve chosen to own our personal Truth. Passions have been running rather strong and deep lately. We might have felt blindsided or not seen something coming. Fourth, we have a full Moon, bringing a luminous light, in the very early degrees of Gemini, which asks Mercury in Scorpio‘s psychological, hidden and mysterious learnings to be in charge of the flirty, chatty and yet emotional full Gemini Moon looking at the Sun and Jupiter found in Sagittarius’ philosophy, wisdom and goal of understanding and higher knowledge. What the heck does THAT sentence mean? Talk about it!! Will you please talk about it? Talk. Talk. Talk. Understand, RIGHT NOW, the entire focus and force of the heavens is pushing at you and asking you to figure things out! You need to be able to name those feelings of yours. You need to be able to put the feelings into words. You need to be able to look at your behaviors and put them into words. You need to be able to talk about it. Even if the words are “NO” or “ARGHH” or sounds made from the base of your soul. You have to be able to translate that sound or feeling into a coherent sentence that your brain can wrap itself around. You have to be able to say the sentence to those folks who listen to you. The point is to be able to articulate the issues and the feelings before you and swirling within you. Now, because Mars is retrograde in water and Mercury is in Scorpio you are NOT going to be able to find words to use to adequately describe it ~ even in a teeny tiny part. So that will be a problem ~ too emotional to put into words but do TRY to wrap some words around it. Try as that is what the universe is asking you to do. Metaphors and Music work well during times like this.

And, last but certainly NOT least, Uranus stops dead in the sky, stationing to go direct ~ at LONG last! Uranus stopping will reactivate all of our stories from last March, particularly from around the 6th of March. Back then, Uranus entered his shadow, the point where he stops this week. Back then, hidden things were brought to light amidst the energy of the powerful spring 2007 Eclipses across the mutable axis. Yes, that old story is back in your life! And you will be working with it until early March 2008. So figure it out and put it into words so you can get to work on it. It does seem like everything old is new again. Expect an emotional swell when you try to find the words.

I know, that is quite a bit of stuff to focus on during the week ahead. It is a bit of a swirly mess of feelings and emotions as the holiday energies start to ramp up. The entire point of the week is to focus you on your future as you wrap up your old life and get ready to move into your new chapter beginning mid-December. So take some time over the long holiday weekend and make a plan. Articulate your dreams, old and new. Name your feelings, old and new. Put them, old and new, into neat little piles so you can see the stuff clearly. Work on your dream book for the next 13 years for a bit. All part of a busy, busy time in the heavens and your life. Remember to breathe.

Monday has a bundle of aspects that kick the week off. Mercury squares Chiron bringing words to wounded feelings ~ gotta say it! Venus has an aspect of brilliance to Jupiter offering an understanding once you can name your feelings. Venus is square to retrograde Mars bringing in the energy of conflict around relationships and connections with family. It’s a bit of a stressful day where folks are going to be a bit thin skinned or sensitive. So take extra time to approach all situations with a moment of caution or care. Be aware of your words as quickness or sharpness can be misinterpreted very easily. If YOUR feelings are hurt ~ well find the words to say what hurt them!

Tuesday, Sun has cranky aspect to Pluto as it lights up a power struggle in that blind spot of yours. You know, that place where you tend to undo yourself? Yep, THAT blind spot. It is SO similar to when you pull out to change lanes while driving. Remember how you make sure you look over your left shoulder? If you forget to look today, someone is going to honk at you! Think of it as your cosmic blind spot. Pay attention to your blind spot. Watch out for your blind spot. Once you know you have a blind spot, you move more carefully through the world. It is a honk at the blind spot kind of day.

Wednesday, if the accident was averted, ride the Mercury Uranus trine to self congratulations. Good thinking! Nice reflexes! If the accident happened, well what did you learn by not checking your blind spot? Now say what happened! Put it into words! Give it a name. Make it conscious. The Sun has an aspect of brilliance to Chiron pointing out that the differences between us are actually opposite sides of the same coin. Can you see that? Push at it. Pull at it. As Venus pushes against Ceres in an adjusting aspect ~ we are created by how we were raised. We forget that at times. We either embrace it or react against it most of our lives. Maybe there is a third option? Or a fourth option? Try to name some options. What is your blind spot?

Thursday, Venus is in an argument with Uranus as he slows to a stop in the sky. If you understand duality, it will make your life MUCH easier. Astrology is all about duality and archetypes. Our world is all about duality and archetypes. Often duality creates in our mind a false choice between seemingly opposite sides. There are two sides of the coin. There isn’t a right or wrong side ~ it is a coin with two sides. The duality of a coin exists to point out to you that there are choices. Heads or tails? Not right or wrong ~ heads or tails? Choice. When I have trouble making a decision, I’ll often take a coin, toss it, and give the coin permission to make my decision. In the second after the coin lands, when I see what the COIN chose, I’ll often have a crystal clear moment of clarity about what I ACTUALLY want. The coin helps me make my choice. The coin helps me remember I HAVE a choice. We forget that we have choices. As you gather around the table to give thanks for the various things in their lives and eat too much food, make sure to remember ALL the choices you have too! As Sun enters Sagittarius, remember the abundance in your world. As Venus has aspects of brilliance with Pluto ~ try to understand the gifts and choices in your life are there because you, some how, some way, agreed to have them be there. Mercury’s aspect to Neptune reminds us, on some level, this is all an illusion and a reflection of what we, or our soul, need to evolve and grow and experience.

Friday Venus squares Vesta ~ that initial clean up after the eating holiday! Put the dishes away! Spot the tablecloth. Put the crystal back in the breakfront. And, out in the shopping world, it is “Black Friday” where stores supposedly make it into the black ink. Moon in Taurus suggests you get an early start on the day of spending. Closing aspect is a Moon square to Neptune ~ make sure to label the presents as you wrap them or you won‘t remember what they are! Too much illusion going on. And if it is WAY expensive ~ let it sit on the store shelf for a day or so until Uranus shifts direction.

Saturn’s day is full of aspects as Uranus stations to move direct and the full Moon takes place a couple of hours later. Mercury has an aspect of stress with Neptune suggesting you look at the deeper meaning of the feelings and emotions in your life. Mercury mucking about in his depths of Scorpio darkness asks you to name those deeper, darker feelings of yours. Own them. If you own them they are not nearly as scary or dangerous. Sun, Pallas and Venus are helping you activate and name the energy of duality in your life. Sun works with the pattern energy of Pallas to help you see the patterns in your life. Name it. It makes it more familiar too!

Sunday, Vesta has aspects of putting the house back in order after a long, chaos filled weekend. Time for leftover turkey ~ maybe a delicious turkey pot pie with sage cream sauce? Get your stuff together for next week. Mercury’s aspect to Pluto reminds us that time is fleeting, fleeing and flying by. Remember when you were little and time seemed to go on forever? Now it speeds by SO FAST!! So what do you want to do with the rest of your life?

Mundane: Last week, China announced they would no longer be buying our Treasury bills. There was a similar announcement last March, when Uranus entered his shadow. China controls 44% of America's foreign debt. Over the last couple of years Russia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other countries around the world have stopped buying our debt bond issues. It is estimated that China holds $800-plus billion in US Treasury bonds. China stepped up to the plate and bought bonds when everyone else was selling. Almost single-handedly China has kept the dollar solvent in order to protect the balance of trade. Beijing knows that exercising their economic nuclear option, dumping the dollar, will trigger a dollar crash. The resulting dollar crash will trigger a major recession—just before our 2008 national elections.

China's verbal threats against the dollar helped push the Dow off the financial edge and it dropped 350 points. The dollar nose-dived as well, falling to $1.50 against the Euro—which was also its lowest level against the Canadian dollar in 57 years. Xu Jian, the vice-director of the Chinese central bank issued a statement saying, "The world's currency structure has changed. The dollar is losing its status as the world's currency." Affirming China’s plan to dump US dollars, Cheng Siwei, vice chairman of China's National People's Congress, said "...We will favor stronger currencies over weaker ones, and will readjust accordingly."

Right on the heels of China’s announcement, the oil producing countries announced they would accept a number of other currencies, a Geneva bundle of options, as payment for oil instead of USA dollars. Think of these two announcements as a one-two punch to the dollar’s stability as a world currency. Think of these one-two punches as the kick off to the interesting times we are about to be living in.

Pakistan astrologers use a chart of August 14, 1947 9:15 am, Karachi Pakistan timed for when Lord Mountbatten addressed the Constituent Assembly. It looks like the turbulence and instability in Pakistan will continue for at least another four months, while the Progressed Moon in Libra moves over past Solar Arc Saturn and Pluto in Libra and Secondary Progressed Neptune in Libra.

Get your bearings fairly early in the day as the Moon leaves void status by entering fiery Aries (3:25AM PST). There is still a tendency to go off on a tangent since Mercury makes an abrasive 45-degree link to distant Pluto (12:27AM PST). Studies in psychology and metaphysics are the winning ticket during the morning hours. Learn more about hypnotism, psychic abilities, and ancient history. Romance remains questionable following yesterday's Venus-Mars skirmish, the Sun-Mars battle, and Juno-Saturn altercation. Now the culprit - a Sun-Venus 45-degree link (11:14AM PST) - is more minor, but still capable of causing emotional distress. On the positive side, the Sun and Venus in this formation can strengthen your personal magnetism, charisma and artistic expression. I asked lately myself about retrograde Mars in my 7th house. What relationship to redo or repair, when there is nothing? Especially I am not in charge to anything. This sounds pretty shallow, but I don't have a chance to do anything in my relationships that has letters RE.
