The only reason she doesnt look like a scorp rising is because she is smiling and looking all happy. I bet in a pic where she looks more serious you will be able to see the scorp better.IP: Logged |

Wildsheep, Interesting, I will go back to astro and read those descriptions. Again. I have been at this for a while about to give up but wanted some insight from others knowledgeable in astrology. So thank you to all you wonderful people! How can you tell by facial features rising signs? IP: Logged |

Jcfam, It took me 2 years. I knew for sure she had Fire Asc, and I guessed Sagittarius first, then Leo. Finally, I got to Aries - which puts Jupiter and her Sun in her 1st house. These planets in her 1st house can make her look like a Sagittarius or a Leo (she even has the widow peak, which seems to be a Leo mark). This is why I think it is important that you answer those questions. Looks can de deceiving when establishing the rising sign and can be influenced by transits - you could give a Gemini vibe if you were having Mercury conj Sun or Asc when you took the pics. I think you do have a Virgo rising, because you relate with it the most, it puts Neptune in your 4th house, and you have Gemini on your 10th house cusp. Sometimes, some people pick up our sign on the Midheaven. In Darkdreamer's thread almost everybody guessed Leo and the guy has Leo on the MC. Nobody guessed Pisces rising. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/017684.html This is how your chart looks like with a mid-Virgo rising. I put Seoul for city of birth, you didn't mention it. You can go to http://www.astrology-numerology.com/housecusps.html and read Virgo for Ascendant, Libra for 2nd house cusp, Scorpio for the 3rd and so on. Then read about the planets' positions in houses. Establish what fits and what doesn't. Good luck! IP: Logged |

Oooh, good call on the Virgo—Neptune in the 4th would be consistent with someone whose origins and "roots" are somewhat shrouded (shows up in a lot of charts of people who have been adopted from countries different than the ones they were raised in).IP: Logged |

You sound like me in some ways but more reserved than me. Im a Virgo with Scorpio Rising... I am going to say you are Libra Rising on the first or last decan/degrees of libra. I stop the guessing before I confuse us any further. IP: Logged |

I have a pretty damn good Scorpio Asc radar too (wild sheep ), and I just don't feel any of it in the pictures or how you describe yourself. And Seeing Stars, I know Scorpio risings can smile too...I'm not fooled by that. And note that many people may suggest Scorpio rising just because of your dark colouring. For proper rectifying you should also make an accurate list of major events in your life (good and bad), and check the transits around those times. If there aren't any planet-to-planet transits going on that seem powerful enough to produce such events, it's highly likely that your AC or/and MC are being affected. A good starting point might be if you go and list the transits (around) six months before and after you were adopted. Your Moon, Asc or MC were quite likely to be involved. Do you know your birth city (I didn't notice you mentioning it, I'll go and have another look)? IP: Logged |

Jcfam - I am crying from laughing so hard! The unsmiling pic....oh man, that was some good stuff. I think the only thing that would've made me laugh harder is if you'd put a picture of a broom. You tickling my funny bone may help establish your AC. (Win win!) I've noticed that people who touch my Jupiter crack me up, so maybe your Asc is at 7º Virgo. That would give you a 12th house stellium, which could explain why you feel like a subdued Leo. Besides seeing which house placements best fit you, another way you can go about this is to look at your husband's placements. See where they would fall in your chart with potential Asc's. Some descriptions may ring much more true than others. His Sun in your 3rd would feel much different from his Sun in your 12th, for example. I think appearance is the least accurate way to determine the Asc, especially from pictures. Rather than describe physical characteristics, I think the Asc is expressed more in the way someone animates their body (like a more primal and expressive Mars). If you're a fidgety person, for instance, you probably don't have a fixed Asc. Your Sun and Moon are both in fixed Leo, so it would probably take a mutable Asc for you to be that way. IP: Logged |

Nightjar - Nice to meet someone else who recognizes the comedy goldmine that is the broom. I thought that was a Uranian type of joke, to become someone/something else when not smiling. So then I thought that perhaps she does have Scorpio Rising, since that would give her a first house Uranus. But since she has a 0º Sun-Uranus square, that alone could be sufficient for some wackiness. (No offense intended Jcfam, I have a 0º Moon-Uranus square and a first house Uranus so you know I'm an odd one myself.) Hmm or maybe it's Neptune humor and she has a Sag Asc? I can't decide b/c Neptune is a big one for me too. Which planet influences you more, Nightjar? Neptune or Uranus? Edit: Never mind, either way it won't help determine her Asc. Neptune trines her Sun, so she has a strong enough Uranus and Neptune influence as it is even if neither of those planets is in her first house. IP: Logged |

Jane. You have a better sense of humor than I. I am here learning from those more experienced and I feel like I wasted my time on this thread... This encourages those who have knowledge to steer away from helping learners like me. Well whatever. I think the ethnic changing cross-dressing thing is not funny. Im out of this thread. IP: Logged |

Unmoved - Wow, we're on a similar emotional wavelength here b/c after editing my last post I was going to say that I was done making attempts b/c the method I was trying to use (determining whether Uranus or Neptune is in the first house) was clearly and frustratingly a dead end.If you hadn't posted in this thread, I would've missed two comments by you that left indelible wrinkles on my brain: the first being that the face of darkness is usually the light; the second being how the Asc is a tool to accomplish the goal of the Sun. So even if you feel like you wasted your time, reading your posts certainly wasn't a waste of my time. It never is. I don't think I've ever guessed an Asc right on this board. And you remember the fabulous results my research in darkdreamer's thread produced? Way off. What a crock that myheritage site was! IP: Logged |

Unmoved makes me laugh.izodesmozina- Thank you so much for your info! I find the Neptune in 4th house very interesting, esp in regards to people who were adopted. Nightjar- The city I was born in is Pusan. When you are talking about proper rectifying are you talking about having a professional doing it or me checking the transits around those times? Because I have no clue what a tranist would look like. Sorry, I'm new to all this. Hi Jane! Thank you for your imput although I do not understand most of it. What influence does Neptune and Uranus have? I know you edited it to say it wouldn't help find my asc, so just asking as a side note from curiousity.

yeah yeah yeah... what's with the pic lady? Why are they different? Explain that? Maybe it will help us get to the dual nature of your ascendant. I know I was not going to comment in here anymore but... I like weirdos. So... what's with the pics? is that your husband there in the second one? Like why would you even do that? Explain! Unmoved- Yeah! Your back! . I was just being silly, I thought what you said was funny, so I just picked a pic to help illustrate your point about how I would look different if there was a pic of me not smiling. I actually tried looking for one, but I smile in all my pics. Obviously you didn't get it or think it was funny, although your response made me laugh again. Okay now I am on my best behavior and promise to not let this thread contain any humor. You have been very helpful btw (and make me laugh) , so please stay.

gosh, this is so hard. I have never guessed an ascendant right... sun and moon signs are honestly easier to guess for me than rising signs. Sometimes you think, 'he's definately a Pisces Rising!'... but then, you find out that he has Neptune or Moon in the 1st house, which makes him dreamy looking. It's really hard to guess right! There are so many factors involved that can change things.IP: Logged |

Jcfam - My method probably made sense to only me. When a planet is in your first house, it becomes very prominent in the way you interact with other people. Your joke seemed to have a Uranus (and to a lesser extent, Neptune) feel to me, so I thought that you may have one of those planets in your first house. But both of those planets form tight aspects with your Sun (0º square and 3º trine) so those aspects alone could explain their influence. If you didn't already have that Uranus square influencing you, I would push for a Scorpio Asc w/ a first house Uranus to explain your type of humor. So that was a dead end. I know you've already tried out hypothetical charts, but if I were you I'd do that with the data of the people closest to me to check out the house overlays. That and checking past transits could be a big help in narrowing down your Asc. IP: Logged |

Jane: that's because I'm a prime time weirdo myself. And regarding your other comment... It would be an exceptional day when you and I end up on different wavelengths. And thank you. and... the more I look at that picture, the funnier it becomes. I must stop being so serious.IP: Logged |
