Here is my understanding of how cancer is water. Scorpio is the depths of the oceans, rivers, lake streams, etc. Cancer is the moisture in the air as it pulls moisture from the oceans, lakes and things around it (much like a cancer is sensitive to the emotions etc. of those around). The water transcends (changes form) into pisces clouds. IP: Logged |

Seconded, I like it so much I can feel a cut and paste moment. I prefer it to the body of water analogy. I feel like I can identify with what water is doing better from this description. IP: Logged |

As a Cancerian, I honestly feel that the current description of "Cancer" is really dated and needs some serious revamping. I'm hitting 45 and not a mother, not married, most of my family is deceased with no family of my own, I have a brown thumb - opposite of green thumb, I don't have pets, I'm not into homey homespun stuff, my nuturing ability is questionable! I'm considered smart and know a little about everything, I'm rational but consider emotions, I'm even tempered, a bit blunt, straightforward, no frou frou, I'm not the ideal picture of femininity, though I am blessed with a beautiful bosom I have Cancer Sun, Venus, North Node, mercury! (12th house though venus is in the 11th) Pisces Moon (8th) Leo rising, neptune scorpio IP: Logged |

Yeah, these descriptions almost universally describe Cardinal signs. Aries does have a bit of a temper, but they get over it quick. IP: Logged |

As a cancer, I also think some stereotypical traits of ours should be revamped. I think our modality (cardinal) makes us have a heck of alot more backbone than astrology gives us credit for. I admit that I'm moody, empathetic, and over sensitive sometimes, but I dont have the alot of the dependency issues that they say we have. Hell, people Im way too independent sometimes. My sag friend loathed that I could go days without needing to see her or the rest of our group while for her it was the complete opposite. Or maybe thats my earth moon and rising, and aries mars talking. IP: Logged |

Concerning Cancers:A “crab” is a small animal, living in watery surroundings, such at beaches for instance. A crab is a master of self-supply, since it carries its home on its back. “Wherever I lay my hat, that’s my home” - a crab doesn’t even need a hat to make a home. It is a world citizen on its own behalf. Its weapons are its pincers, and it will always have them in alert – mainly for self-defense reasons. A crab is always in motion - and you never know where it will come from or where it goes next; it can move any way and changes its direction frequently, sometimes decides for the sideways, sometimes goes backwards, then rushes forward again. With its pincers it tends to hold on tightly to what it feels for – but it is also capable to “pack its bags” and leave in an instant. This animal is a brilliant example for the saying “a tough outer shell, but a soft interior”. And a crab’s interior is precious and tastes delicious – just think of the Lobster as a luxury edition of the crab! In Astrology, the superstitious sister-science to Astronomy, the “crab” is called “cancer” and is rated as a “water sign” and is also rated as one of the four “cardinal” signs in the Zodiac. The “cardinal signs” are seen as the “creators” in the Zodiac, their qualities are described as pro-active, powerful, self-reliant, brave and entrepreneurial, maybe a bit dictatorial sometimes, but also inventive, reliable and strong. Scorpion gets intense and wants to do something with this wonderful Crab. And Crab runs away but is still curious as it runs! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZgRzh85fWo IP: Logged |
