I say for Rafe the solution is to get him near a loo on a plane and get him recite lines from the English Patient. If you are the hostie it helps. No seriously, Ralph would be the better end of English. At least he has some level of sophistication.

Edit - as for Australian men, some are gorgeous and some are just Quiksilver boardie wearing bogans with their Commodores and Zoo/Ralph mags.

8th - I'm more than willing to give him up to you my amzing friend

However, I've been watching a few episodes of "Ladette to Lady" recently and those aristocratic Englishmen are trouble. All nice and sophisticated but behind the scenes they appear like saucy rakes.

Australian Financial Review myself. I don't read "ladies' mags", Cosmo and Cleo are a bit lowbrow for myself. Woman's Day and New Idea is not porn in anyway but at least they have decent gossip a week out of date of internet gossip.

I love how when i say "Englishman" everyone starts to talk about Ralph Fiennes...!

Am i gaining a reputation here? Am i becoming notorious for my relentless-Ralph-loving???

Yes, i have made note that my yummy, repressed, broodish beau has Venus in Scorpio. So the straightforward "I want you" would probably do wonders for me. ^_^

I protest! I think that she slipped him a date-rape drug and had her way with him without his permission. I mean, what other explanation could there be for him cheating on me???? He must have been unconscious. In the plane... and the four times after that in that hotel... and once more the next morning... boy, she sure does carry a lot of drugs on her, doesn't she!

So tell me, Blue Moon, why Ralph is ok but other Englishmen are out of the question? What's so repulsive?

Mr. Darcy isn't harsh enough.

He isn't... passionate enough.

He's rather plain, when you think about it.

I mean, how much suffering does he REALLY undergo? Really? Not that much! He doesn't fight for Elizabeth Bennett! He just says, very conservatively and matter of factly, "I love you. And i have struggled greatly and blah blah blah." Umm, don't just say it, darling, show it!!!!!!!

I'd take Heathcliff over Darcy ANY DAY!

I'm still trying to figure out what particular lines she got him to recite to her. I really am perplexed. Was it the thimble scene? That's the only thing I can think of...

Yes they are brothers. He slightly better even if he did star in the annoying Shakespeare in Love with the annoying Gwen. Sorry.

Oh now I've gotta disagree with that one. We're talking Victorian England...repressed passion. I think Darcy was brimming underneath all of those gentlemanly manners, which is the contradiction 23 mentioned. I believe Darcy would fall into the saucy rake category...

Oh. My. God.

How can you think Joseph is better? He's such an OVER-actor! I mean, have you seen him in "Killing Me Softly"? Or "Forever Mine" or "Elizabeth or even freaking "Shakespeare in Love"! I mean, i did like him in SIL, but he did. He over did some of it. For instance, that scene where he goes to the church after he finds out Marlowe is dead. Did you see him acting all OVERLY DRAMATIC! The hand gestures were killing me! I was dying in the theater.. oh myyyyy...

No, i definitely think Ralph is much better than Joseph. And i'm not saying that because i'm in love with Ralph either. After all, i was a fan of his acting before i was of his person. If he was a terrible actor i'd think he was unattractive. Like Joseph. Before i saw the rest of his work, besides SIL, i thought he was smoking. Now i don't know why i ever thought that.

.. i must say he was good in "Running With Scissors" though...

Well, he freakin' kept all that "passion" repressed through the entire story!!! When did he ever lose control? Tell me. I must have missed that part, IF IT EXISTS! ... which it doesn't...

I mean, if you're going to keep it locked up, good. Good. That makes for more explosion when you do express it. But when he DID express it, it was still rather cool. Not dynamite at all. B@stard. I would have told him to do it again if he would have delivered his little speech to me telling me how much he cared. Where were the tears? Where was the shaking and the yelling and the emotional breakdown???

I think Darcy is scorpionic, that's why the passions simmer but don't explode. Control.

Meta, I'd move onto a Viking dear. I don't think an Englishman will suit! LOL!

I'm trying to think of a man who is fiery, bold, and forthright based on your description. A Viking came to mind!

Speaking of different tastes in passions and Jane Austen, our conversation reminds me of Eleanor and Helena's in "Sense and Sensibility." When Eleanor says Helena is too reserved and what could be more glorious than to die for love? Know the book?
