sorry I didn`t see your question on the connection of ruler 1 and 8 at first.

Well, I think that the 8th ruler person will be insanely attracted to the 1st ruler person.
The ruler of 1st house is like an extension of the ASC, the physical identity of a person (him in this case), and just though being himself he triggers your 8th house issues. If you are in tune with your 8th house and not easily scared, it will be a deep passionate feeling. Actually I think even if you were scared, the passion would still be there.

BTW which guy do you like. I`m a bit lost here.

Is it the one who went abroad? The one you met online? Or the father of your youngest son?

I would focus on the planets first.

For a second look I would include Eros and Psyche for ROMANCE, Isis and Osiris for SOULMATES and Karma and Destinn for KARMA.
I`d also look at Juno, but outside of the categories.

Hmm, and maybe at Valentine? For soulmates AND romance? not sure about it though.
(I just remembered that IQ said VAlentine was signifying true love and I had the hunch that the mix of ROMANCE and SOULMATES may be the closest to a True Love feeling, as you have both in one, romance and a deeper soulbond - and therefore it would makes sense to count VAlentine to both categories)

I think there are so many asteroids, so they probably will blur the picture.

you asked why I only considered the IC int he soulmate category and not the ASC (I guess that was the question).

Well, ASC - DSC is the attraction the relationship-axis. IC is the soul of a person. That is why.

BUT as I said, I consider the strongest aspects to be a mix between the ROMANCE and the SOULMATES category, so the ASC gets definitely important.
Put someone`s IC-ruler on the other`s ASC and you have a very strong soulmate-connection.

Anyway, i don't really understand the jist of it but it seems we are quite each others type seeing as we have similar planets in 1st H and both our AC rulers are in VENUS signs!
Then in IC/4th H we both have a moon connection... in 2nd H both our rulers are in ARIES sign... and both rulers are in same element?

you don`t compare the 1st houses, 2nd houses and so on with each other - that will show you if you are similiar (also a sign of compatibility I admit), but the magnetic attraction comes from a comparision of one person`s partner-ideal and the other person`s personality.

Example:
Compare your 7th house with his 1st house.

Let`s say you have Mars in the 7th house and he has Mars in 1st house or ASC in Aries, then he would be your type, because he has what you seek as a personal trait.

You seek Mars (Mars in 7) - he is a Mars-person (Mars in his 1st) (and yes it is all in the natals).

You can expand it now.
Check 5th, 7th and 8th house as your partner ideal.

Your partner should have the wanted / desired connections in regard to his 1st house, 2nd house, Sun, Moon or Mars (or even his 4th house as the root of his emotional identity).

Another examle:
Your ruler of 8th house is in 4th house - 4th house is the natural Cancer - Moon - house. So a Cancer / Moon-partner would naturally satisfy your 8th house needs (transformation, intensity and so on).

He could be a Cancer / Moon partner, if he had for example:

Sun or Moon or ASc in Cancer or 4th house
ASC conjunct Moon

Ruler of my 1st is also in his 7th H and ruler of his 1st is in my 7th house!!!!

My DSC is in Gemini
Ruler of 7 is in Sagittarius
Ruler of 7 is in 1st house
ruler of 7 is conjunct Sun

My 8th house is in Cancer
Ruler of 8th house is in Aquarius
Ruler of 8th house is in 2nd house
Saturn is in 8th house

my 5th house is in Taurus
Ruler of 5th house is Capricorn
Ruler of 5th house is in 1st house

The dominant NEED I have to have fulfilled is for Aries / 1st house / Mars.
Why? Because the ruler of my 7th AND my 1st house are both in 1st house (the ruler in houses are dominant).

So I am seeking Mars or Aries energy, and that guy now has Aries intercepted in his 1st house, which is like having an Aries - ASC.
So his persona (ASC) is exactly what I need.

I also have a need for Saturn / Capricorn / 10th house, as Saturn is in my 8th house and the ruler of my th house is in Capricorn-
he has Sun and Moon in 10th house and both being squared by saturn.

my 5th house is in leo
ruler of 5th is in aries

so l am also seeking mars/aries energy... my guy has scorpio ASC of which mars is traditional ruler (does that count? lol)

neptune in my 8th is in his 1st house and ruler of his 5th house is neptune.

In that last thread I created about house rulerships, there was one thing that I wasn't sure about.

Here's an example:

Ruler of Girl's Descendant is Jupiter and ruler of Boy's 8th house is Venus. But the aspect goes the other way - Boy's Jupiter opposes Girl's Venus (1 orb). Should this be taken into account?

Or say that the ruler of my IC is the Sun. The Sun in my partner's chart conjuncts one of my angles or nodes... what then? Do you think this would have a simlar effect or is it taking the pattern too far?
