Intelligence quotients aside...I also have Mercury in Sag (detriment). As does master astrologer Rob Hand. Rob wrote an interesting piece on this a while back, suggesting that planets in detriment or fall are not necessarily weaker, and may actually possess special abilities that may be capitalized on. I think of Mercury in Sag as a sort of ADD placement. It has some difficulties, but it also has some unexpected perks. Mercury in Sag, it is said, has problems with focus. It is difficult for these people to tune certain things out. On the other hand, the awareness is remarkably diffuse. For instance, I may have trouble following the conversation in front of me, while I'm picking up what everyone at the other tables is talking about. Mercury in Sag sees the big picture... He may overlook the direct and obvious association, but spot the remote, ironic, and philosophical connection farther off. I also think there is potential for objectivity with detrimented planets, just as there is when two planets are opposing each other by sign.

Oh sorry, I've been misspelling decanate as decante (some off interpretation of mine ;0), Libralove look at where your Jupiter and Mars are placed, how they are aspected, and what sign they are in. This will give you a bigger picture of how your Asc. and Sun expresses itself, aspects to your Sun are very fundamental to your chart. One thing that I think is interesting is that I'm a year older than you (born in '88) , and my birthday is in late July and my Venus is in Gemini, but Venus traveled all the way over to Libra with you, I didn't realize that Venus can travel so broad of a range in signs. ------------------ Sun - Leo Moon - Pisces Ascendant - Sagittarius IP: Logged |

aha!!this really backs up what iv said to people in the past, that i come across a bit virgo (probably not here, but hey with my grand square, some of my planets are hungry to express them selfs) my mars is in virgo, my jupiter is in cancer i do have a bit of shyness. im not a loud lion!. as for the aspects aspecting my mars and jupiter, i can't remember them, i think they might be better aspected compared to my moon and venus though i don't think my sun has many aspects i got alot of uranus aspects i think though yeh, my libra venus only just about got into libra! our aspects might be quite good since you mentioned your venus is in gemini IP: Logged |

I have Mercury in Sagittarius Venus in 1st (I dont mind this lol) Mars in Cancer Neptune in Capricorn I personally think Venus in the first is a good thing. And I like my Mercury where it is. But I gotta say Mars in Cancer is very horrible. It's never easy to get what I want and this placement makes me super angry when I'm angry but the sad thing is that the only thing I can do is cry.. It's like I can never feel like I can get back at people lol. But I have one question, since my Mars is in my eigth does that help to "balance" it out a little? ------------------ Sun; Scorpio Moon; Taurus Asc; Sagittarius IP: Logged |

Hey afroken, I know two people that have Mars in Cancer, which is considered detriment. They are slow to act, in fact I come across as more shy, and less assertive as these ladies sometimes, but I'm motivated I push myself to extremes - Mars in Aries, but its in my fourth house, so there is a bit of cancer likeness to my Mars. Venus in first house is a good placement for Venus, it makes people very drawn to you, but can also make people a little narcissistic (no offense). My poor sister has such an imbalanced chart (Pisces Sun & Asc. with Aries moon and Venus, just fire and water!), I think I'll post it on another topic.... IP: Logged | |
