Two of the dearest ppl in the world to me are on my fatal attraction list - my grandma who raised me when my parents were busy with their own lives (Feb 10th) and... my husband! (March 8th)... geeeeez... OK, but... it all makes sense, even my grandma.

Come on, people. I mean, come ON. If anything in life were really that easy, that simple, that cut-and-dried... don't you think all the world's problems would have been solved by now?

It's this kind of crappy "pop psychology" that gives astrology and metaphysics a bad name.

You have made such a judgemental comment and yet you are open to other subjects like astrology. Nothing is good or bad, only thinking and perhaps discussion, makes it so.

Admittedly, the logical part of my brain thinks that the book would have more credibility/validity if it was actually explained how these dates were derived.

Let's just take one example. Say you have 1st January listed as a Soul Mate date. Can we really expect that everybody born on this day is a soul mate to us? That's not logical.

Mathematically, there are some interesting occurances. Take for example my birthday, 1 Nov. These are the soul dates listed:

Nov 1:

Jan 11
Jan 31
Feb 9
Feb 29
Mar 7
Mar 27
Apr 5
Apr 25
May 3
May 23
Jun 1
Jun 21
Jul 19
Aug 17
Sep 15
Oct 13
Nov 11
Dec 9

All of them are odd numbers, like my birthdate of the 1. And they do follow a mathematical pattern - Jan through June lists two dates that are 20 days apart. And July through Dec counts backwards by two for each month, starting with 19, 17, 15 etc.

But, I did actually just meet a person who I felt extremely strongly pulled toward and his date is listed under mine. Then, when I looked up my step-father's date, my mother, my daughter, and my mother's sister are all listed under his birthdate. He is very close to the three of them. So, the creative side of my brain has to wonder if there is in fact some merit in this.

Jan 9 and 29 haven't met anyone with that birthday

Feb 7 My friend a very sensitive aquarian has this birthday!

Feb 27 Oh no no one I have met is born on his day.

March 5, right on my grandma has this bithday very admirable person.

Apr 3 hmm, I have a cousin who has this b-day but we get on like oil and water.

Apr 23 and May 1,can't say I find Taurians very interesting and thats why I don't have a single one as a friend, but I guess time will tell!

May 21,excellent I had a good friend in high school with this b-day.Great Oke!

June 19,hmm un4tuntely no one yet.

July 17,Wow.My flatmate had this b-day we got on incredibly well.I was confused since he was Cancer and I Sag that such a connection would exist, but now I guess I understand.

Aug 15, unlucky.Hven't met any interesting Leos.

Sept 13,oh yes this is definately true.My ex has this b-day and the connection is still strong.

Oct 11,Nov 9, Dec 7 no one I know here but I must say I do have a large number of Librans,Scorpions and Sagittarians as friends.

You like mathematics? Coool! So do I! Check this out:

There are 18 possible "soul mate" dates listed under your birthday. There are 365 days in the year. That means that each day in a year has a 5% chance of being one of your "soul mate" dates.

Now, how many people does the average person have who are "close to" him or her? For the sake of argument, let's say ten: a mother and father, a brother and sister, two grandmothers and grandfathers, a best friend, and a significant other. And let's say that each of these ten "close" people have a different birthday. That would mean that you have a 50% chance of one of these people having a birthday listed in your "soul mates" dates.

Isn't 50% totally random?

Of course, I'm willing to bet that most of us know (or have known) waaaay more than 10 people we felt "close to" for some reason or other. If you can make it to 20 people with a different date... the probability goes up to 100%! You're almost sure to have a "soul mate" or two in the list.

As for how these dates were arrived at, Purple_scorp, I'd almost be willing to bet that they're based off compatible astrological charts.

You are trying to trick me, right???

At the risk of revealing that I'm blonde, the way I see it, I would need 182.5 soul dates listed under my birthdate for a 50% chance of any of those close ten relatives/friends etc to be a soul mate.
