Many bonds are harder to break for a reason, especially the Saturn/South node. I have that with someone and I just can't break free ever or else I have the worst luck.

Good to read to help understand,

Hi Natasha,

Do you think that they are only referring to the conjunction?

I have my n.node sq. his saturn and his n.node is sextile my saturn.......this is a 30 year friendship that has unbreakable ties, and I wonder if this is partly the reason????? at times a very frustrating bond.

ok, one more question.....the south node is opp. your n.node, (conj=opp, trine=sextile, SQUARE=SQUARE?) the n.node square moon would be the same as s.node square moon, right??...............I have no idea why I'm having a prob with this, just want confirmation, I guess. lol

Thank you.

In mean time, just wanted to put my 2 cents, some aspects work better with just Conjunction indications, if I remember correctly, this is one of them. At least as far as we go here. But here's a really great link to explain the Nodes. I'm sure Natasha will have some major insights as well :::

Thanks for that link Natasha - I have these two with my friend :::

"Their North Node conjunct your Sun:

This relationship is planted firmly in the future and encompasses all levels of your life. Dynamic and powerful irregardless of how long the relationship physically lasts. They remain with you, in some form, for a long time into the future."

"Their (his) Saturn falls on your North Node -

Gives you good advice and will be a help to you at some important time in your life. These are excellent contacts between you and someone who serves your needs-a nurse, a financial advisor, a lawyer, or the like."

What about the South Node? I'm looking for more info on someone's South Node conjunct the partner's Sun. I just did a google, but it turned up nothing. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Funny, I was looking for the same thing earlier. Seems like that information is kind of hard to come by...

South Node is exactly opposite the North Node, so wouldn't that mean their North Node is exactly opposite the partner's Sun? Stating it that way might be an easier way to get info.

Bizzarely enough, Danny's North Node is within a 2 degree conjunction of my IC/MC line, conjunct my Jupiter and sextile my Uranus.

Yet another reason why I feel like we're bonded? Hmm.

Oh, this made my week! hee hee...

Their north node conjunct your moon: They seep in and affect your emotional levels and subconscious. Anytime the north node connects it can bring far reaching longevity to the relationship. Irregardless your emotional and inner reaches are forever affected because of your meeting. You will never forget this person.

The Pisces I hope one day with be my cuddle bunny has his moon conjunct very closely (like degrees 2 degrees) to my NN. And my moon is conjunct but not as closely to his NN. Hee hee. No wonder we can "pick up" our acquaintance so easily whenever we cross paths again - we can't forget each other! LOL. I know I can't forget about him - and his moon is in closer conjunction than mine. So hey...maybe he's thinking about me right now.

Well, a girl can dream can't she?

My dislusional romantic side aching to break out likes to believe that I have that "radar love" thing going too. Like when you are psychic with your friend and right when they think of you or wish to speak to you, something tells you to call them. That happens to me all the time. Sometimes I'm so tuned into them, my timing can even appear to be way too perfect, and they may think I'm spying on them or having them spied on.

It's weird.

As strong a glue as the NN is, I'm glad it's not quite so painful to get through as Saturn aspects. Yeah, I know there is a reward, but it's HARD for a Cancer Mooner.

NN conjunct your moon, yes that's a cuddly aspect so far for me. Dream on:>

Noreen, Yes conjunctions are stronger, than the trine and sextile, and I look at that first. There is debate as to whether other aspects matter but that is what I am starting to believe. Some of the opposition and square interpretations are a little disturbing, so I am checking this carefully.

If you feel an interpretation is very wrong, or very right, please post that information here. So far I agree strongly with the conjunction, and trine. The Square and opposition interpretations make a lot of sense but sometimes can be negative, so I am looking for more interpretations.

The answers to your next two questions are yes, and yes. I will post more info as available.

How much do you think these synastry interpratations apply to the same composite aspect? We have NN conjunct Moon in our composite. Do the same interperatations apply?

Natasha, what do you understand South Node conjunct the other's Sun to mean?

.....and just noticing his Saturn squares my Nodes and my Saturn squares his Nodes....

what does it mean when someone's True Node is in the 8th and yours is in the 2nd?

our charts almost line up house for house, however, i think his South node actually falls in my 3rd house, instead, but my True Node is very close to the cusp of my 3rd house, so i would assume the orb would be close enough to mean something.....i'm positive my South Node (i typed "nose"!! *LOL*) falls in his 8th house, right next to his True Nose

does this mean something significant?

yes, I think Nodes of the Moon are definitely one of the most important factors to consider, especialy in synastry. Some astrologers, like Nole Tyl for example, swear by the Nodes. The aspects most felt are the hard aspects - conjunction, square, sesquiesquare and quindecille. Soft aspects are very subtle. There is almost no difference bewteen how one would feel the different aspect s- a conjunction or a square - they both mean there will be action and reaction, a deep feeling of belonging. usualy the Node person is the receiver and the planet person is the giver (depends on the quality of the planet ). If your Node aspect his Jupiter- you will receive everythng from them which correlates to his natal Jupiter- house position and ruler of the house. If your Node aspect his Sun - you may get more popular in public due to him, and that may affect you positively or negatively in different circumstances (bad reputaion, good reputaion )

google "Getting to Node you" by Noel Tyl, its an excelent article on Nodes ties in syanstry

some clarification on the nodes:
I only really look at the north node because it represents the future. The past lives, and the karma you carry with you is imbedded in the south node, but you are aware of it.

The N.N. has to do with your future path, and direction towards that path. The reason some astrologers like to say the south node is bad, or evil, is because holding on the past is bad for most. Some of us cannot move forward because of past bonds, and obligations but that means we have a tendency towards this trait.

Being a Taurus I know I do this so I have to be doubly careful to let go as I move forward. For that reason I do not look at my own south node because I am already living past obligations, they are clear to me and I cannot focus too much on anything but the present and future.

If you are doing a past life reading then look at the south node, but if you are doing a synastry reading look at the north node.

As for aspects.
The node is not a planet so the square and opposition do not have the same effect as a planet would.

Example-imagine that you throw a tennis ball at a wall and it bounces off, and hits another wall. You have a layered effect. With planets squaring each other there is a multi layered effect throughout the chart. With a square or opposition to the node, that doesn't happen.

It's not a physical planet, it's a point in space.

So traditional methods do not apply.

The opposition, and square are very much like the conjunction because when that tennis ball bounces off the wall, all that matters is the the ball bounced. There is no hard or soft bounce, there will always be the same effect in real terms.

Astrologers like to say the opposition is harder to handle with the nodes, but never give any proof to back this up. Very confusing.

An opposition is a harder bounce, and that combined with other issues in a person's life can cause a reaction. But a reaction is NOT the same thing as a challenge. The only difference between the conjunction and oppositon is that the impression on the person is a bit stronger. This IS easy to handle depending on the person and the conditions in that person's life.

So you ask,
"then conjunctions are not as strong, and oppositions have a stronger impression?"
What you are asking is how can you tell the difference in someone else, we all know how that brush with Venus or Jupiter affects ourselves.

How do we collect data? We talk to others..
How to tell the difference in someone else?? Well you don't know really, this is where things get messy, it depends on a lot of things, the childhood, the upbringing mainly.

Nodes are prominent in childhood because they are part of the Moon which rules the childhood and early issues. The opposition may have a stronger impression because we are talking about impressions, not actions or reactions.

The reactions and actions take place later in life, and do not always manifest strongly. You really have to know someone to see their N.N. acting in their life. It's mainly an impression you will get, or an impression that person will receive about their own childhood experiences.

Example:
Uranus opposite the North Node,
Every astrologer has a different interpretations DEPENDING on the clients she or he has.

One astrologer said that a soulmate indicator was one's Node trine another's Venus, but that the opposition was okay too. Conflicting? Yes because this is not well researched information.
How do we research? By real life examples..

Okay here we go:
Uranus opposite NN.
One said, suicidal thoughts
I say, war and conflict in childhood

Who to believe? The conjunction could be:
Can bring peace to conflict

So in both cases the opposition and conjunction will have war and conflict. Do you still think the conjunction is positive, why??

Having looked at two cases of Uranus opposite the NN in the 4th in water signs, I would say that both were traumatized by early experiences in the home where the father either abandoned the home, or was emotionally distant. The mother was critical and clinging, both had distant relationships with their mother.

Now looking at the conjunction, so far I have only met one person like this, and I have yet to look at more charts, BUT this person had a very cool attitude towards the family due to many conflicts that had to be smoothed over. Distant again. None of these people had any more or less personal happiness or wealth than the other. Barely a difference!

All three were brushed with Uranus, and none seemed to be marked more or less than the other. The oppositon effect compared to the conjunction effect is the same.

Two famous actors have a trine with Venus, but a third has the oppostion. All had a hard ride to fame, wouldn't the trine be easier? No because there is only the indication of a brush with Venus. That's all we know about the Nodes, we don't really have an interpretation for the opposition. In experience all are well known actors, and of course they are slightly vain but to most the node effect is the same.

The reason? They handled their brush with Venus differently depending on childhood issues, and other conditions. Impossible to tell why they handled it the way they did even after looking at their charts without knowing them.

So do not get to caught up in the meanings, as the Node does not follow traditional astrology.

You may want to consult a Vedic astrologer

Now as the for the trines, they do matter, but it's the same effect, the ball bounces off the dark wall, we see the "reaction" that ball coming back at us, only it's at a different angle. How does that affect you? Depends on how well you can handle a tennis ball coming right at you. Sometimes you can handle this, sometimes not. If it's a trine it bounced softer and it's coming back slower, but it's stil there.

For that reason read the conjunction interpretations ONLY. You will be a lot happier, because there is no new information in the trine, square, and opposition interpretations, they are theory ONLY not flat facts. And anything not borne out of experience isn't really worthwhile if you are looking for meanings.

We need to suspend belief at some point to believe in science deals with matter. I am more concerned with physical "matter" here, than meanings.

The meanings have to do with how much you can handle at one point. Even a person with all trines and conjunctions can have a terrible life if the childhood was awful, because the parents didn't have trines. We are all interdependent, but it's important to understand why astrologers depend on certain bits of data, and where they are collecting their information.

Experience can be gained from reading charts, but knowing the person helps. Nodes are hard to read, unless you know the person.

Can't stress that enough.
If you can't get a handle on someone, think of someone you know in order to see the familiar elements. That is why I am sometimes wary of celebrity interpretations unless the astrologer knows the person or is very experienced.

Hope that helps,

Note:

The interpretation of the Node has nothing to do with the worth of that person or the other aspects in the chart, or the past lives of that person, or the future prospects for wealth, or love. The Node is a path not an aspect of our personality, and so therefore there is no bad aspect to the N.N.

The N.N is your own future path, imbedded in your unconcious that slowly awakens. Others can help you onto your path, but they are not fated, unless you want them to be. You are in control of who comes in and out of your life. It takes more than N.N synastry to keep soulmates together but it can indicate a positive effect on your wellbeing if that person is supportive your own path.

Take Care,
Natasha

Now as for the composite, a composite is a horoscope for a relationship, it's not a person so the Node in synastry can give you some helpful tips, but your own Node is more important.

With his Vertex in the 7th that's just one more indicator that he can obsessively love Venus ruled individuals such as yourself. Vertex in the 8th always seems drawn to Scorpios.

Blind Cupid yes you are correct, his Node Node near your "Moon" IC line would at least give a lunar aspect to the relationship. For some this would be a good thing.

Lioness, I can't make heads or tails, I have noticed this, if your N.N. falls into someone's 8th house conjunct a planet, that person will feel like giving to you in an intimate manner. The flavor of which will depend on the planet.

I only count conjunctions if they are right on top of another, meaning close conjunctions.

Vedic astrology may be different, check your Vedic house chart at astro.com.

Bad or Good?

I read a lot about astrologers who say certain aspects are bad or this one is good.
This is just plain not true. Why?

if you throw a ball at a wall and it comes back at you, a thousand times stronger, your impression will be that you have a lot to deal with. Your nervous system may fail, or you may become sharper at seeing the reactions of others.

You will learn certain skills more quickly than otherwise, and have the potential to help others. After a while, the ball isn't coming at you as much, the learning curve has been mastered.
There is no bad, only bad compared to what? Bad compared to easy, or is easy bad?

If you throw a ball at a wall and the ball comes back slowly you may become bored and never learn a new skill. So why would a square be bad, and a conjunction good?

We all that to throw that ball, it's life, moving, growing and changing. If never learning, or changing is good, then why do astrologers always mention that conjunctions and trines in synastry are good? Because they are talking short term.

Long term relationships will have a lot more bounce.

So do not get caught up too much in negative readings, and be wary of interpretations that are all good, or all bad. Many astrologers today only mention the conjunctions in synastry, which is very sad, there's so much more to learn, and people do not always stay together due to trines and conjunctions, and easy aspects.

Remember it's not who you are today, it's the way you handle life that matters. That's your identity in the long run, and the identity of your mate. You know how much challenge you need or not. Plus only you know your true path.

That's why I like studying the Node, it's a very good tool.

Take Care,
Natasha

Natasha,

You rock!! You always give such detailed, well thought out and helpful replies. Thank you. It must be your Sixth house Sun (I believe that's what you have). You like being helpful to others.
You are really sweet. Thanks again.

Maybe Nodes are like pure friendship love. Sort of, the kind of love we are comfortable with, and since prepubscent times. Before boys started starting at our boobs and making us feel like freaks.

Nodes are like, an instantaneous recognition of someone you know so well, the North someone you are destined to be, and South, the person you know because you were once them.

Ok I'm a little confused. My partner's South Node is in the same sign as my Sun, Ascendent, Mercury, and Mars. So this means we where together in some way in another life? Since the South Node is considered bad, does this mean by being together again we are not letting go of the past and learning? My North Node is in Virgo and I just do not get along w Virgos at all. I'm trying to understand, but the Nodes are really confusing me waaaaa.

What does it mean, if anything, if a couple's north nodes are BOTH in Libra?

Mine is in Libra, 10th house at 1 10 42 and his is also in Libra, 5th house at 14 11 48.

If his NN is in his 5th house, which lies opposite my 10th house, what does that mean for either one of us in a synastry chart?

Not knowing a lot about the North or South Nodes, I am trying to figure out a relationship I had and why we are both having a hard time letting go.

So far, based on the North and South nodes, here is what I found:
His North Node is in: Cancer
- trines my Asc - Scorpio
- trines my Mercury - Pisces
- trines my Venus - Pisces
- trines my Neptune - Scorpio
- squares my Sun - Aries
- Squares my Saturn - Aries
- squares my North & South Node

His South Node is in: Capricorn
- trines my Moon - Taurus
- trines my Mars - Taurus
- squares my Sun - Aries
- squares my Saturn - Aries
- squares my North & South Node

My North Node is in: Aries
- trines his Moon - Sagittarius
- trines his Mars - Leo
- squares his North & South Node

My South Node is in: Libra
- trines his Ascendant in Gemini
- trines his Venus in Aquarius
- trines his Saturn in Aquarius
- squares his North & South Node

There are some discussions on the site about "conjuncts" but didn't mention anything about any other connections and what they mean. Am I reading too much into the North/South Node trines above ?

Can someone help me with this please? Thank you in advanced.

Hmmm, I don't know too much about this, but I'm interested. I'd like to know about a couple of things - what does it mean if his natal Jupiter is on my North Node. And how about if my natal Sun is on his North Node? Different guys!
Answers much appreciated.
