I want some insight on this as it is something that happens often yet many people do not talk about it.

I have a dear friend in Turkey who is wanting to marry a man from the UK. There are many problem with her family dealing with the different cultures and religions. Her mother weeps and shouts yet the love of this couple is growing daily and future plans are being made in spite of her family's wishes.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation? She has asked me for advice and I am not sure what would be of help other than to assure her that love will find a way.

Thanks,
Irish

speaking from personal experience, its not easy....she better be 100% sure shes in love....she might be burning her bridges, and relationships over this guy,
how did she meet this guy anyway?
"love will find a way" is a nice sentiment, but not always accurate, sometimes its not worth it...theres an imbalance usually too...1 person sacrified a lot to make the relationship happen, that usually doesnt help, also depending on the person, they can always throw it in your face....

I married a guy whose parents were Yugoslavian and although I enjoyed some aspects of the culture, others were very challenging.

The women and men tend to be separate at functions...and the women were expected to run around and do all the work, whilst the men got drunk.

No thanks...

hi sueg...been thinking about you

I know what you mean... I am Macedonian...Same Slavic culture. When I was a child I noticed this right away...
Let's just say my Grandmother spent her whole life in the kitchen....
SHE was happy though... She enjoyed pleasing and feeding...lol
they all tried to fix me up... but no thanks... It is better now at least here in the States....Love the weddings though.

I read recently that Neptune in Synastry when activated can cause these problems....I'll see what I can find... and be back

Thank you all! You guys are great!

They meet in the UK while she was there taking some couses to futher her carreer.

I am sure that this is something that they both want 100%. I know that she is ready to make the move and she is finally able to get her mother to stop crying long enough to tell her of her plans.

Stargazer- love to know about the Synastry sounds interesting.

Thank you all again,

-Irish

hi Irish,

I would totally have to agree with..and cos things could go one of two ways that her new lover and life could contradict her own beliefs and turn her life into a living turmoil,or she could of found herself anew -age kinda a guy who is gonna bring alot more pleasures into her life... lets hope for the best.
Ignorance and Arrogance do not HELP no ones lives i hope one day when she and this man have a family that her children a going to be appreciated though.
This is alittle touchy for me personally.
good luck

I suck at cut and paste..I hope it worked!!

Sorry I missed your post Taurus..(my bad)
I typed out a bunch of Neptune info from Liz Greene.. I think the Venus stuff is towards the end.... She mentions just this type of thing....

I think Jupiter could play a role too.

Do keep us posted Irish

Thats why I usually gravitate to people with a similar (if not the same) ethnicity to mine because we have lots in common-they don't even have to be the same race. For some reason I have this feeling that If I were to bring someone American(-ized) ( And they can be White or Black, it doesn't matter) to dinner, that they would freak out at what food was put before them on the table....and I'm probably right. That dynamic definitely wouldn't work in a marraige or relationship. There are alot more differences that I don't feel like going into.
