heartfocus,

when you continue to focus on the things you think you cannot do ...or find, like forgiveness or positivity in a situation, then you never will find that silver lining. By focusing on those things, the things that seem to elude you, you are giving the other things your permission to stay hidden. You are keeping what you think you cannot do or have in your awareness - strong in your vibration and active in your experience. What you focus on is your point of attraction. If you can only see the glass half empty, that is all you'll always get. What we focus on, we are inviting and manifesting into our experience. There are ways to help you to get to a point to where you only bring in what you truly desire.

May I recommend a book?

The Law of Attraction, the Basic Teachings of Abraham
by Esther Hicks

I'm reading it now.

All good things to you.

Very good posts, thank you! Yes, sitting with your hurt feelings helps. That is a Buddhist concept, too. From books by Pema Chodron. I guess the point is to sit with the painful feelings and sit with them and then they will pass...of course they come back and then you do the same exercise again....until they figure out they aren't going to get to take root.

Somedays, we're all so busy, caught up in getting things done, doing external things. That's all well and good, but still external things. Sitting with your feelings and doing nothing about them except maybe to discover why they are there and what caused those feelings.

I think sometimes why being free is scary to some, is because there is nothing to focus on, especially if you're used to always focusing on something. Not paying attention to the voice inside. Some people thrive on chaos, it's what they're used to. To me, being free is being at peace, stillness.

Being free is scary because its a whole new world, and you don't know the rules. Its the same as moving somewhere new (best analogy for me, since I move every 6 months.)

You don't know anyone, you dont know where the new supermarket is, how to get there- you start thinking you don't even know who YOU are anymore, because you don't know where you fit in.

Thinking as I normally do- in a negative fashion- is my home. I know the rules, I know the streets, and (sadly) its comfortable. When I am reminded of past traumas, the pattern is generally the same- i may weep, get angry, i will sit with it, i will blame the other ppl or the universe- but eventually, its all my fault, i suck. I am home now.

its hard for anyone to move somewhere new. thats why freedom is scary- even if you want it desparately.

That's very true, MK. We want to stay where we are comfortable. I assume that by talking about "being free" we are talking about an internal freedom from worry, fear, panic, terror. I'd like to find that place.

I like this form of meditation. This is where I got my user name.

HeartMath's Quick Coherence Technique
http://www.heartmat h.org/free- services/ quick-coherence- technique. php

Coherence means being in sync. When you are in sync you perform at your best - it's what athletes call being in the zone. You feel more confident, positive, focused, and calm yet energized.

When the brain and heart are out of sync, the signals in the nervous system are chaotic. It's like driving a car with one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake. That makes a jerky ride; burns up more gas and wears out the car quicker. When our heart and brain are out of sync, we tend to more easily feel frustrated, anxious or angry.

The Steps of Quick Coherence

1. Heart Focus

Shift your attention to the area of the heart, or the center of your chest.

If you don't understand how, try this: Focus on your right big toe and wiggle it. Now focus on your right elbow. Now gently focus in the center of your chest, the area of your heart. If you lose focus, just keep shifting your attention back to the area of your heart. Now you're ready for the next step, Heart Breathing.

2. Heart Breathing

Breathe slow and deeply. Imagine the air entering and leaving through the heart area, or the center of your chest.

Heart Breathing helps you begin to get in sync and draws the energy out of the head, where negative thoughts and feelings are amplified. This helps neutralize stressful feelings. If it's hard to disengage from stressful feelings, don't worry. Just really wanting to disengage can help you release a lot of emotional energy.

3. Heart Feeling

Remember a time when you felt good inside, and try to re-experience that feeling. Focus on this good feeling as you continue to breathe through the area of your heart. (This could be a feeling of appreciation toward a special person or a pet, a place you enjoy, or an activity that was fun.)

This is the key step to getting and staying in sync. Many people find that when they experience positive feelings like care, love, or appreciation while breathing through the heart area, they immediately feel and think better. Holding a positive feeling makes it easier to stay in sync for longer periods of time, so that it becomes easier to remain calm and balanced even in tough times.

With the Quick Coherence technique, it takes only a minute to get in sync and reduce stress right in the moment. It takes some practice, but it's way worth it.

You can do Quick Coherence anytime, anyplace and no one knows you are doing it.

Key Points

Quick Coherence is a powerful technique for refocusing your emotions, connecting you with your energetic heart zone, and releasing stress. Cumulative stress creates a cloud of incoherence. By practicing the Quick Coherence technique, you increase self-alignment, drawing in more of your higher discernment faculties and increasing access to your intuition. Heart coherence increases operative intuition for day-to-day facilitation and guidance. Once learned, the Quick Coherence technique only takes a minute to do. It consists of three easy steps: Heart Focus, Heart Breathing, and Heart Feeling.

You can apply this one-minute technique first thing in the morning, during work or school, in the middle of a difficult conversation, when you feel overloaded or pressed for time, or any time you simply want to get in sync.

Athletes use Quick Coherence whenever they need to boost their energy levels, coordination, reaction times, and speed while playing sports.

The Military, Police and Firemen use Quick Coherence to maintain alertness, and the ability to think quick on their feet, especially in extreme situations.

Quick Coherence can help you perform better on tests, help you get along better with others, relax and calm down when you are feeling anxious or stressed.
