This scene from Practical Magic, reminded me of my sister and I. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of falling in love - at least, not in the way most people did (they didn't even seem to like each other, let alone love them...). My sister couldn't seem to wait to fall in love.

Amas Veritas, from Practical Magic

Young Sally: " He will hear my call a mile away. He will whistle my favorite song. He can ride a pony backwards."

Young Gillian: What are you doing?

Young Sally: Summoning up a true love spell. called Amas Veritas. " He can flip pancakes in the air. He'll be marvelously kind. And his favorite shape will be a star. And he'll have one green eye and one blue."

Young Gillian: Thought you never wanted to fall in love.

Young Sally: That's the point. The guy I dreamed of doesn't exist. And if he doesn't exist, I'll never die of a broken heart. And if he doesn't exist, I'll never die of a broken heart.

The scene was also beautifully shot, and I loved the house. I was disappointed to find that it was only built for the movie, in a park on one of the San Juan Islands, off the Pacific Northwest. I was obsessed with moving to the area, for a while there.

I also loved the book, The Time Traveller's Wife. I can't remember parts of it now - it's been 3 1/2 years since I read it, but in the movie, the two main characters were 100% in love with each other (though they had their arguments, and tough times), and she didn't have to go through the process of kissing a lot of frogs to find her one and only.

*edit. Should anyone be offended by that last sentence, you can find an explanation here.

oooh I love "Pratical Magic"! one of my absolute favorite movies, especially the "midnight margaritas"-scene, lol! the movie has a nice sisterhood-thing going on that I sometimes miss. I like the love story in it too...

Another favorite is "Mr and Mrs Smith" I think it reminds me of a previous relationship where we lived together but had lost the connection to each other and therefor had separate lives.. and I kinda like the brutal sex scenes haha lol

Practical Magic, is one of the movies I watch once a year, when I need a pick-me-up, or to just relax.

I also loved that the man she conjured in the spell was real, even though that wasn't the plan at the time.

"He's Just Not That Into You"

Mary: I had this guy leave me a voicemail at work, so I called him at home, and then he emailed me to my BlackBerry, and so I texted to his cell, and now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies.
It’s exhausting.

Gigi: Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bangs and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, Every story we’re told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we’re so focused on finding our happy ending we don’t learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don’t, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave. And maybe a happy ending doesn’t include a guy, maybe… it’s you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is… just… moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this, knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never gave up hope.

Gigi: I would rather be like that, then be like you.
Alex: Excuse me? What’s that supposed to mean?
Gigi: "I may dissect each little thing and put myself out there so much but at least that means that I still care. Oh! You think you've won because women are expendable to you. You may not get hurt or make an ass of yourself that way but you don’t fall in love that way either. You have not won. You’re alone. I may do a lot of stupid **** but I’m still a lot closer to love than you are.

Alex: So trust me when I say if a guy is treating you like he doesn’t give a **** , he genuinely doesn’t give a **** . No exceptions.

Me: I don't recommend the movie, but I liked the quotes above.

I also watched "Whip It!" the other night. My favourite line was, "I don't want to be 'that girl'". If you watch the movie, you'll see why.

Nephthys lol.. I would probably fall hard for such a sappy pick up line like that lol.

My favorite all time romantic or otherwise movie is While You Were Sleeping

I have seen this movie multiple times and cry every time... such a sap...

The mere thought of someone loving me that deeply would be amazing. And I will settle for nothing less because I know he's out there somewhere and I deserve that kind of love...we all do.

Awwwww, Winks, that is so special, birthday-girl!!!

I don't believe I've seen that movie. No offense, but I can't take too much Julia Roberts. Once in a while is okay.

That scene from Public Enemies, well you kind of have to see it..........

Winks, I love that movie. I have it saved on my DVR - I've loved it since I first saw it, I think on or around my 21st birthday (too long ago).

Now I need to get back to bed, and check on Bert. He's been wheezing all afternoon and night.

"Kate And Leopold"- I'm sorry, this brings out the old-fashioned Cancerian side of me. A good looking gentleman from the 19th Century. *sigh*

"Bridget Jones"- Fell in love with EVERYTHING about her and Mark Darcy.

"Love Actually"- The British know how to do Star Studded Romantic Comedies the correct way.

"The Count Of Monte Cristo"- Nothing like the book, but the transformation of Dantes is amazing. And I really liked him & Mercedes. Just another movie bringing out my Old Fashioned side.

"The Patriot"- Not a romantic film in the colliquial sense, but I fell in love the idealism of Gabriel Martin (Heath Ledger..RIP). He was amazing.

"Khabie Kushie Khabie Gham"- Hindi Family Drama which I've probably watched 23948 times and cried over it too.

Nephthys.. While you were sleeping isn't with Julia Roberts. I agree there, she gets annoying..
The star is Sandra Bullock who is one of my all time fav's..

Wink Sorry!!! How funny!!!

Why did I think it was her? Maybe I was thinking of Sleeping with the Enemy ~ but I did like that one.

Yeah, I don't think that Julia Roberts needs to be in every single movie

So is it your favourite romantic movie, or its how you see a past/present/future love within your life?

"All deaths are suicides, do you realize that? Every single one. The only distinction is that, with some people, suicide is a subconscious choice, and with others it's a conscious choice. Otherwise, those who commit suicide and those who succumb to accident, illness or "old age," die for exactly the same reason: belief in the inevitability of death." Linda Goodman
