Here's an unusual question...

What are your thoughts on sense of smell and soulmate relationships? I'm not referring to perfume, cologne, soaps, BO, etc. We all have a unique scent - have you ever met someone who just smelled like home? Or been involved with someone who misses your scent?

Enquiring minds want to know

Nope. I don't think I'm ever close enough to anyone to sense their smell, so.

Sowwy.

People compliment me on my cologne. I don't wear cologne.

Yes!

My soon to be ex has always smelled like Johnson's Baby Powder (to me). Something about that smell reminds me of childhood and my grandma putting it on us kids after our baths. We would be so dirty and gritty from playing in the sand and swimming in the ocean and our skin would just be sunburned and I remember that powder feeling like silk.
When I met him it was one of the first things I noticed about him.. finally I asked him about his "baby powder" and he said he didn't wear it! Sure enough there was never any in his home. Over the years the scent has faded a bit, but it's still there if I stick my nose on his forearm. lol
He says the same thing about me, only he says I smell like coconuts. Strange, huh. Good question!

I'm involved with a man who absolutely adores my smell. It's an intense relationship and the attraction is palpable. Couldn't help but wonder what role our sense of smell plays...

Hope you don't mind this?... When I saw your topic "sense of smell" it reminded me of opening words in a series of "Lion" videos I'd watched on the Smithsonian Channel a few weeks ago? You may enjoy this, or others in the same series... The power exudes from these animals, so amazing. I chuckle really hard watching this video, thinking about "humans" and sexuality!...

(clip) Lost Lion Reunites with His Brother (Smithsonian Channel) [3:58] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb_qSG70lfo

Added... When I was little all the "men" smelled fantastic on a Sunday Mornings (going to church, then meeting at my grandmother's for traditional soup afterwards). I was in Heaven!

Liking someone's sense of smell probably has to do with how potent their pheromones are to you. Definitely adds to the sexy factor

Unless you're Randall and naturally exude cologne smells.

I loved the way that my ex smelled! Even when he was sweaty, he never smelled gross to me. He never got stinky body odor, even times that he forgot deodorant. It wasn't a particular scent, but I just loved to smell him. He was obsessed with cologne, and although the cologne smelled good, I preferred his natural scent. We were together for 14 years and I really miss his smell. Anytime we were away from each other, I would sleep with one of his undershirts so I could smell him.

On the flip side, there was a guy in highschool that I really liked, and we used to flirt with each other relentlessly. The thing is he smelled weird to me! It wasn't normal body odor, it reminded me of an old person that had been rolling around in dirt all day. Or kind of how kids smell when they've been playing outside, ugh stinky! No amount of cologne would cover that smell. Although we really liked each other, his scent was a dealbreaker! It was like a repellent.

It's definitely their pheromones, and I've seen documentaries about this. They play a huge role in who we are attracted or repulsed by.

Smelling a male's armpits causes regular menses.

His scent reminds of the smell on one's clothes after taking a crisp winter walk in the woods. Earthy, rustic, and sensual. A definite aesthetic aphrodisiac.

When I was young, and my Uncle used to take a shower, he would tell me "Come over here, Ellen MO-rie, and sniff your big, strong Uncle Clyde's armpits and tell me if I need some deodorant."

Now you are trying to tell me it's for the Good of my Health?

Do you guys have some kind of conspiracy going on here, or what?

No, I'm just kidding.

I was looking out my window this day, and smelling the fresh morning air.

It was so sweet, with something almost tangible to the senses, and I was drawn to the thought of Spring.

Does Spring have a Smell?

Well, yes, in the Mountains, it certainly does.

A vague scent of Pine Needles and Musk.

Do you smell like that?

When first we came to the Mountains in Spring, it was Easter.

I'll Never forget that Scent.
