Sending him a birthday message would send him the signal that I'm still waiting around for him instead of living my life. He hasn't reached out to me and doesn't seem to be bothered. I don't see why I should lower myself to please someone whose only interest in me was the ego boost I provided him with.

My mistake was to chase him for much longer than what I should have. I should have cut him off cold turkey back in 2013 when he cancelled our first date the first time. I was naive at the time and as a result, I let him drag me through the mud, multiple times.

After meeting tons of people these last few weeks, I realized that I'm worth much more than what he had to offer (which wasn't much). He didn't appreciate me or my qualities then, I don't see why he'd suddenly have an epiphany and start acting like a decent individual.

I wasted too much energy/tears on someone who only has eyes for his own personal gains. He doesn't have his life together and allowing him into my life again would create another mess I'm not interested in. It took me such a long time to start rebuilding what I "lost" last year, I'm not going to sabotage myself.

The door is still open if he ever feels like reaching out, but I will not make a move. I should be past this. I relapse sometimes, but then after a couple days, I wake up and realize I'm just hanging on to a fantasy.
