Can you borrow books from a library (and hide them from your mother?) I get what you are saying: it can be quite a challenge for an older person like her to radically change their way of thinking overnight.
Also I think meditation is a really good way to get a clearer connection to your intuition. Maybe it can help to quieten your mind. I find meditation recordings helpful. I bought mine but maybe you can get some free from somewhere? Or you can find scripts online and make a recording for yourself. Or maybe try Youtube. Just some ideas.

Yes I am young, I just want to start off early. I know some people shared their experiences saying that they developed it at 17 or 18. I want to do that, but I guess to be patient.
