Mirage, thank you again. You're a shining light in a dark tunnel. I will check out every resource you posted. I'm super excited for info on the 12th house that doesn't just talk about bad luck lol. Yeah it's super loaded. If you switch to whole signs even more planets are in the 12th.

And we didn't know it was that bad with my sister, either   I guess it's an indicator of addict behavior or of her intelligence that she was able to do well in school and keep this from us, during a pandemic no less. And yeah it is in the family. Grandfather definitely was an alcoholic. He died of cancer that was directly related to his drinking.

Your story is chilling. What a sadistic human vampire! Glad you got out of that scenario.

Yeah, my therapist (who is a former addict) and I discussed it and agreed it will make her a better psychologist once she can deal with it.

"Maybe you feel overlooked?"

Not really. Well, yes, she has their attention right now, but that's how it should be right? She needs help and has always been more dependent on them. I'm the "independent" one, at least according to my family. I don't resent her at all for that.

Here is what I do resent:
(DON'T READ IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO DRINKING RELATED ISSUES) I had to leave work the day it came out that she has a PROBLEM because my parents couldn't deal with the stress and someone had to watch to make sure nothing happened to her. So I sat and watched her drink and then fall into a drunken stupor only to wake up and pull alcohol from various hiding places and then continue the cycle for hours and hours. I confiscated her keys phone and wallet when the alcohol was almost out. Then I started looking at rehab places, etc, etc. and I don't mind doing things like that for her. Never have. She's my #$%*ing sister. But when she went to the center she pretty much shut me out--- she only gave my parents' names so I couldn't even call the center to ask if she was ok. And couldn't hear about her progress. It hurt. I'm not an emotional support pet who can be beckoned and rebuffed on command and I resent being treated like one. (END OF DRINKING STORY)

"So. In your work and field,
What are you doing with it now?
What are your plans??"

So, I love wine. I love that it serves as a lens you can use to study all these other things: history, politics, geography, philosophy. I love that it's reflective of culture and, in some cases, the individual personalities who make it. I like how the words various languages use match their winemaking styles. In France, the word for a winemaker is a vigneron, literally a grape farmer. That's what he/she does. No more. And that is the style of Burgundian wines. Terroir driven, which means that where the wine was made was more important than how it was made. In Spain, the verb used in winemaking is elaborar, which refers to the elaborate, process-driven wines that are usually not released until they've been aged for a while. I love how wine is a living thing; that it's basically controlled decay. I love learning about the places where it is made--- everywhere from Greece to the volcanic vineyards in Sicily. Each with its own story, its own grape. Its own food that goes with the grape. When I got into wine, I saw studying it as a way to understand and relate to people. Because visceral pleasure is relatable, so are quotidian things like eating and drinking. And I love that it provides a framework for a dizzying array of people parsed by what they eat and drink.
So yeah TL;DR I love wine.
And I used to love working in wine, but I have become a little jaded. I don't want my salary or job performance judged on my ability to make a handshake deal. I used to work in high end wine sales and I'll probably start a retail wine job again in the next week or so to pay bills. But what I'm going to really do, like adult do as a career. No idea. I studied Spanish, French and Persian in college. I got into grad school in madrid before covid and deferred. I might do that. Maybe languages again. Maybe psychology? IDK, tbh. Every day i feel like i change my mind and find it hard to motivate myself. I want to be certain that what I'm doing is the right thing; I'm having problems because I know that certainty will never come. Any ideas?

Thank you. No rush. And no worries if you don't get to it.

Placidus, thanks so much for your comment!
Yes, the abuse I had (in my earlier years) by a severely-sick alcoholic really destroyed me inside--
was a stinger to my confidence.
And
Thanks for sharing your own story.

You were a real friend to your Sister, especially in light of what happened in the days leading up to the Intervention you were called-upon to participate in.
. .
You did a Very Good and Right thing by her.

Her response --
What she did to shut you out of her life at that point she entered the hospital might not have been to punish you, as much as it was her drunken state, and the 'overwhelm' she could have felt at the collapse happening in her life at this time.
. .
She might actually have been grateful inside--
You brought her 'presence' and comfort, all the while she destroyed herself in front of you. *bheart*
. .
This reframe does NOT negate the 'hurt' you felt, nor the 'worries' you had for her life.

Again astrologically, she was having some HEAVY confrontational transits where she was needing to account for herself. That's why I couldn't forget her over the time period of Christmas. (I didn't post my reply in time.)
.. Not kidding, the transits were accurate-- to the Day!! {Christmas}. Spelled out what happened with her and the family.

She might not ever "realize" the value of your labors, the Care and emotional capital you invested into her, during a time of high crisis.
.. KNOW that your contribution was a solidly Wonderful thing.
Keep that in your Heart.
Remain Clear, and satisfied.

How interesting!!!
I've watched documentaries about Grape growing and Wineries in the California area, both on TV and through youtubes.

Thought of that during the Wild Fires California had. Some gardens got burned up? wow.

Passing this along to you, in case you haven't been following your transits.

quote:

from Astrodienst - Free Horoscopes
"Personal Daily Horoscope"

"Following through"

Valid during several weeks:
This is one of the most significant times of your life.

During this time your responsibilities will increase considerably,
and you will try to eliminate everything in your life that is not necessary to fulfilling them.
Therefore your life will become more complex and simpler at the same time.

You are finishing up certain tasks in your life and going into a
"five- to eight-year period" of relatively quiet preparation for a new beginning.

You will be cutting some elements out of your life
and working hard to complete others.

During this time you may have less freedom of movement than usual
because of the pressure of circumstances and the need to get things done.
Old tasks that have never been completed must be finished now.
At work, you may have to exert more effort in order to get the job done.
Your superiors may give you even more responsibility than you would choose to have.
This may not be a very light-hearted time, but it should be quite productive.

But do not start out on a "completely new" project,
because in a few years you may find that you do not have the material
nor psychological resources to complete it.

Finish what is unfinished, and simplify your life.

Good relationships will not suffer appreciably during this time,
but bad ones will break up completely.
You are withdrawing from everything in your life that is 'unnecessary' or [is] in the way of your development during the next few years.
Bad or difficult relationships may be among the elements that are discarded.

Try to avoid 'building a wall' between yourself and others, for this is a great [temptation] now.

Duty, responsibility, and obligations do not preclude personally-satisfying relationships, even though you may feel that they do.

If you cut yourself off from others unnecessarily, you will become lonely and depressed.
The people who belong in your everyday life are very important for you now, especially since you are excluding those who do not belong.
Often it is good to seek out the company and advice of older people, for they have the insight and understanding you need.

Hi!

Thank you! I did see the toliman conjunction and the related associations. I know I have to be careful, but I appreciate you looking into that. Don't want to end up like this

(drunk Orson Welles in a wine commercial)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvxwf1jxdaM

And I haven't been keeping up with my transits. Hopefully this will finally get me off my butt to do something.

And yeah, my sister is probably grateful, but it's a dynamic that needs to change. She's an aries moon and has always been really good at advocating for her needs. I, on the other hand, don't communicate well and try to smother my feelings, which always works out perfectly (sarcastic). We'll eventually sit down and talk and I will tell her how this behavior makes me feel. I'm not worried bc I know that no matter what she loves me and that the most important thing is for her to get better.

I didn't know that about the 10th House Moon. It makes sense though. When I try to keep emotional things private it usually backfires. I am very easy to read-- my emotions just show on my face.

Haha I love that clip of Lucy. It's been a while since I've seen it It seems like you like old things the way I do. Have you ever checked out arctic outpost radio?
http://www.aor.am/

It's this dude up in Svalbard, Norway (I think it's the world's northernmost town!) who runs a radio station that plays 78's from 1902-1958. Big Band, Jazz, Swing, Vintage Country, and Blues.

PS sorry for the late response. I started a new job and have been tired all the time.
PPS I want to do cast my d12 chart bc of your advice, but I'm VERY new to vedic. Where do you go to make yours? I know it should be sidereal , but what house system?
PPS Sacred outrage! When you say healing for the Kaali/Chiron in the 6th what do you mean? Reiki? kundalini? I was reading a bit about Kundalini after I got a reading from IQ. It sounds intriguing, but a bit intense.

Instead of trying to guess things,
why don't you get a Good Vedic Reading?
Actually, 'obtaining' a Reading is one of the best astrology lessons you can get for yourself.
You learn sooo much!
Had two small readings (western) around 2012? just before registering at LL.
You can learn by 'experience'.

Try here---

Michael Reed Vedic Astrology ..services
He has skills in Psych-Counseling, AND is an astrologer.

He doesn't do the "strict" vedic chart readings with Vedic karakas.
He has invented his own hybrid technique where he uses Western Placements, inserted into Vedic chart, using the traditional Vedic rules.
Nakshatras play a huge part.

Also.. the Vedic techniques he shares would be transferable to 'traditional' Vedic placements.

I am barely knowledgeable of Vedic.
Again, Mr. Reed's techniques render different degrees and Karakas {rulerships}, but if you JUST want a Reader, he might provide you with good advice.
. .
{Again, he's a "Counselor" first, and whatever he would say, would come with the training of one. He appears to be a very Kind person.
.. He's in the UK.
I wouldn't imagine you'd have to wait too long to get an answer and have a Reading. Let me know IF you do..
.. I hesitate at sending people to Readers that I myself haven't used to Rate them {Readings are so freakin' expensive now.. at least for my finances,
--USA Elder on depressingly impossibly-tight SocSec check.
<edit>

So anyway
.. I had been following his youtubes, but he slowed those down over the past year.. still has some from time to time.
.. If you try to access his website through banner in his Youtube channel, they won't let you 'in' without first signing up for an account with them.
So the URLS I've left were what I had 'bookmarked' before he did that.
With other Vedics I've heard it can take MONTHS before they book you...
LET ME KNOW.. okay.
I would always want Feedback on the URLS I leave. People usually 'trust' my recommendations, and I want to make sure they are WORTHY of my mentioning them.

-

I like being 'trusted'..
In my life it seems others have come TO me for recommendations on other things. I never want to steer people wrong.

Your Feedback is Valuable.

--------
With the Vedic post on D-12 I had left in Vedic forum, it was quite informative... regarding one's Ancestry and the Collective Soul of the Family-- alive or passed-away. Very enlightening.

If you go to the Vedic Forum, you might find it. MoonMystic was the thread's author.

If you can't find it, I will look it up for you.
There is also a thread I've added to in Know Two are Alike Forum under How to Post Images. Go to page 2, for Vedic info.

. .
My LL presence might become less for a bit...
I'm generally only popping-in for people I HAD replied to 'for now'. }

If you don't mind, I'd like to follow your updates from time to time .. as I 'see' them.

So yeah, 10th House Moon is so 'personally' Public...
I don't know where yours would be in Sidereal.
Astrodienst gives the option for a 'circle' chart of BASIC Sidereal placements. If you print it, and the Data Sheets, you'll have planet degrees and your Ascendant.

Much of Vedic uses Whole House system-- so that blathers my head. I'm a Western Placidus person.

Have listened to videos of Ancient Astrology teachers. It takes a 'shift' in mindset to go Whole Houses. Feels 'less accurate'. Oh well.

Thanks for your Feedback, AND the Humor!
Much Love
Mirage

I’m so sorry you’ve been going through all this. I’m hoping things will get a bit better with Biden, but who knows? Your age puts you towards the front of the line for the vaccine, no? That could at least eliminate one worry.

And yes let’s please stay in touch

Thanks for your response, Placidus_flamingo.

Yes, with Biden, he's going to try to focus on folks who aren't wealthy. Try to balance things up a bit for the economically oppressed. He's VERY in-touch.
. .
He's a very good man, P_f.
I lived in his district for a portion of my life.
My dad saw him after a meeting while Joe first appeared on the political front. Afterwards, my dad stood with me on our front lawn and said in a far away voice that Biden was going to become 'president' some day.
I thought my dad's prophecy came 'close' when Biden was made the Vice President under Obama.
It was truly surreal to see my dad's words come true.

Joe really IS 'for the People'. He genuinely cares. He knows them, and with the extremely competent people he's assembled for his admin, then, we have a Chance to rebuild.

Part of my dilemma now is the State I live in. Very dogmatically-right-wing. Hoping maybe I'll get to relocate to a State that Loves their Seniors and believes in them as a valuable strength-- not 'cost' center. I STILL want to Serve in the Community wherever I'd live; however, in my advancing years, they've GOT to come-through for me first. Make sure I'll be alright. -- Then, I'd find a way to Re-Fire. *smile*
(I'm a people person.)

Been purging many many files these past few weeks. Not-so good memories, that are now shredded and in the trash. THAT brings me to a better place inside. Letting go of weights. I had thought to do astrology projects with them.. but really, don't want to rehash old memories-- Need some new and better ones.

Your sister's Sun is 7.44. (May 28)
Mine is 7.50'50" Gemini. (May 29)
Her Mercury is early Gemini.
Mine is later at 27+ Gem.
I've met and worked with MANY Geminis.
And recently, worked in an office with several Sun and Merc in Gemini.

Your sister and I share Sun Degree with JFK (29th), and Patch Adams (28th).

When I leave the plus signs behind numbers, it's to indicate numbers beyond it.
eg 7+ = 8 Whole Degrees

Hope you find what you're looking for.

I'll drop by from time to time.
