Probably so. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

I just don't understand why some people are saying the movie was too violent. That is exactly what happened to Jesus, and if you want to see what happened the day leading to his crucifiction, then there should be no requirement of censoring this movie. The contents were vivid, crude, and horrible. But so was the crucifiction.IP: Logged |

I'm afraid that "The Passion" is inaccurate. The Bible does not describe the scene in which Jesus is chained and beaten by the Romans. That scene was expanded; it also does not descibe his arm being pulled out of its socket. To contest your assertion: quote: "That [the movie] is exactly what happened to Jesus..."
Of course, if we want to be technical we could discuss whether Jesus actually lived. The primary evidence for his existence is The New Testament. Secondary evidence includes an ossuary inscribed with the words "James son of Joseph brother of Jesus". The ossuary's authenticity has lately been questioned. That being said... "The Passion's" power cannot be denied. Yes, it was gory- but not unbearably- and yes, it wasn't friendly to the Jews. It makes the Roman soldiers look ridiculously sadistic and treats the Roman leadership rather kindly. A notable alteration is the huge chasm which appears in the temple at Jesus's death. According to Gibson, God was mad enough at the Jews to smite their temple. I don't believe that's in the Bible. The Jews are his people, you sillies! Either God is changing sides, or there are two gods at work here- one for the Jews and one for Jesus. So I saw it. It was well done, but obviously not something I could watch for fun. ------------------ Hello everybody!
