I think your dream of a giant flying black snake is fantastic.Recently I read about many little statues of goddesses from thousand years ago from all over the world that were dug up. (I love archaeology). Nearly ALL of them have snakes in their hands, wrapped around their arms, around their heads, etc.
From what I understand from Barbara Walker's "Restoring the Goddess" book,
Snake represents LIFE because they are SPIRAL. Everything in life is spiral. Even DNA. I will need to go back to reading that book and get back to you. (of course Serpent means WISE.)
I imagine that Snake also represents the Goddess/Feminine because you see it all over in the Bible about "Serpent" (Goddess worship even though they would not acknowlege "goddess".) Dragon also means Goddess. Can you see why they often say "Slaying the Dragon"? That's when the patriarchal system took over, suppressing the Matriarchal Religion when both goddesses and gods were worshipped and when women were held in high esteem.
This is interesting. I thought maybe this info. may help to understand your dream and put it together. It's within you. It's more likely that your "giant flying black snake" is actually one of types of dragon.
Come back and tell us more!
