Ok... when I was very young I dreamed that a person who had died many years ago came to visit me at my house and was very friendly to me; in the morning I was convinced that the person had really come to visit me. Since then (I'm now 31) that same person has visited me in my dreams periodically - they never knew me in real life, but I know who they are (in fact it's a well-known figure, I won't say who it is because it sounds completely ridiculous!). Each time, the dream is very realistic and it's as if that person has decided to pop in and pay me a visit. It's always a nice dream!

I wonder what this means and why do I dream of this person?

I've also had visits in my dreams from my grandparents after they died, and each time I'm sure that they really did come to see me.

I'm sure that there can be a psychological explanation for this - if so I'd like to hear what it is (although my intuition tells me that these visits really have happened)!

My own feeling is that you are indeed visited by these persons. The well-known figure whom you did not know in waking life is a 'friend' of yours on the other side. Don't you think?

Yes Ra, I think your feeling is right. Especially now that you've said it. I've felt that very strongly for a long time - to the point whenever I see or hear anything about that person in my waking life, I feel an intense connection to them (I feel as though they know me). Thanks for crystallising for me what it means, your insight on this is so valuable.

I believe we are connected to people all over the place, in all sorts of ways, and mostly are unaware of it, to varying degrees. And while we may not know one another in waking life, I believe that other aspects of ourselves do know, and do remember, and we pay each other astral visits all the time.

And, from time to time, there are those who get glimpses into this realm which they remember. They remember the experience, often taking place in a dream setting. There are so many variations, as I suppose this type of experience is highly individual. Know what I mean?
