I'd been tossing and turning most of the night up until about 3 AM, never getting comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping Tuesday nights, since my work schedule has me working late shift 1500-2200 on Tuesday evening, and day shift 07.30 - 1500 on Wednesday. The problem last night was not about not beeing sleepy, but not getting comfortable..
I remember recently turning over to lie on my left side. Shortly afterwards the dream started.
Everything was dark, all around me. I heard voices around me, singing softly. "Run, run, run and hide, it's coming, it's coming". This was repeated endlessly, soft and barely audible. Everything was mostly dark and in shadow, but a small patch some way in front of me had more light, just enough to make out a few more details than in the pitch black everywhere else.
I had a feeling of a kind of bridge over a deep chasm somewhere in front and left, the bridge/walkway was slightly peaked and ended on a downward slope in the lighted area, it was almost spotlighted.
A voice behind me whispered "he's coming now, watch out for his paw, if it has a white spot like this, it's ok.. If not...." At the "like this" a black cat's paw was extended from behind me on my left side, with a small white field over the "knuckles".
All the while the song was still repeated, now they sounded more desperate. Something big and very dark was moving on the bridge, out of the light, but it was approaching.
I wanted to watch and look for the paw, but then I got this tight, tingling feeling on the left side of the back of my neck. I couldn't feel any real pressure, but my head moved as if someone had grabbed me there and was putting my head slowly to the ground. I ended up lying on my left side, with my back to the approaching cat (I just knew the speaker was a cat, and that the approaching one was a cat) and the tingling part of my neck pressed to the ground, it felt distinctly involuntary. I still didn't feel like someone was touching me there, but the tight, tingling sensation grew, felt tighter and tighter, not unlike the sensation you get when your leg has fallen asleep and blood is returning again, while the big cat kept coming. It felt like the one behind me was holding me down for the bigger one. Due to the feeling that this was not in my control and that it was "tightening" I semiconsciously decided that I didn't want to play anymore. I was awake at this point, lying on my left side in my bed with that tingling. I sat up and turned over, I even remember saying "No, YOU run and hide!", it felt like I had to tear the "glued" part of my neck up from where it had been.
I lay on my back on my bed, the tight feeling in my neck was gone, but it continued to tingle, and it simply wouldn't stop. This was freaking me out to the point where I was asking every guide and gatekeeper I could think of to get this thing off my neck. After a while the feeling subsided, and I fell asleep and slept until morning.
Funny thing is that the same spot on my neck has been tingling on and off all day..

I hadn't really planned on posting about this here, but this must have been the weirdest thing I've ever experienced in a dream...

Hello Fluke

Weird indeed!

This dream reminds me of an astral/out-of-body experience written about by Robert Monroe. I wonder if you were experiencing a similar astral event.

Symbolically, if this dream can be deciphered as such, it may be suggested that some sort of powerful unconscious energy/aspect/issue is entering your conscious awareness (cat crossing bridge over chasm in darkness towards you).

Has something "dark", negative, or threatening been on your mind lately? Does it have a restrictive quality to it?

Hi again Ra

Any chance of what Monroe wrote about being somewhere on the net? I'd like to read it

(edited: I've read quite alot of his stuff, don't get me wrong, but I'd be interested in that particular incident )

Can't say there have been any major changes in "status" around here, nothing big, dark and scary approaching.. On the other hand, what passes as "normal" around here isn't all that great either, it's more like just having accepted that things suck and waiting for it be over, for things to improve.

The experience I had felt just like any other dream, apart from those physical sensations, but I'm often having trouble separating my dreams from memories.
The classic incident was when I chewed out my mother for losing my mail, because I distinctly remembered that she had brought it with her when she came home and that something I'd been waiting for was there. Turned out no-one had picked up the mail that day, heheh.. Incidentally I'd also taken a nap that day, guess where that "memory" came from...

I've also been experimenting a bit with astral travelling, a few months since my last serious attempts now, but I've never gotten past the vibrations, I always get too excited when I feel them, and that pulls me out of everything...
