Hi Glam;I can add more later, but for right now I can tell you that I used to have these kind of dreams ALL the time when my kids were younger.
You said you are over-protective, and so am I. All that nervousness is bound to be pent up, and will need an outlet somehow, which is what dreams are perfect for.
Try to relax, I know we hear such awful things.. but I remember what Oprah said one time about the subject of children being abducted.
She said that it SEEMS so prevalant (or more prevalant than in the past) because of the extreme media coverage these days.
When a child goes missing across the country, we ALL hear about it, then panic thinking it will happen to us.
Before the media had so many outlets, this kind of thing still happened, we just didn't hear about it as much.
Sometime google something like, "what are the odds of a child being abducted/drowning/catching a deadly virus, whatever you can think of, and you will be so shocked at what you see! The chances are so very slim!
Try to relax, and try to visualize your child doing something safe and lovely before you go to bed.
It helps, I promise.
