Last night I had a dream we had a family pet armadillo, somehow a porcupine showed up in our house. I was concerned about how the 2 would get along but they seemed ok....until I hear my kids screaming and turn around to see the porcupine happily chomping away on the armadillos head....I seemed relieved the armadillo was gone though. The porcupine was very friendly, interactive and kind to me and my kids.
Any thoughts on an interpretation?

......Dream Symbolism.....

To dream of someone being bit in your dream signifies the pressure you are putting on someone causing them great distress. You may have unexpressed, perhaps even childish, feelings of anger or resentment that need to be recognized.

To see a porcupine in your dream suggests that you need to look out for yourself and protect yourself from emotional or psychological harm. Trust and honesty are important qualities. Alternatively, a porcupine indicates that there is a situation which you need to approach with openness.

To see an armadillo in your dream represents your need to establish certain boundaries. You may be putting up walls between you and those who want to know you better. Alternatively, it indicates codependency.

To see a head in your dream signifies wisdom, intellect, understanding and rationality. It may also represent your accomplishments, self-image, and perception of the world.

Hope that helps!!

Hello Gabby

I agree much with DS.

This dream is interesting. Both armadillos and porcupines represent protection or defense against external forces, so it could be that a subtle change in you is taking place. The pet armadillo could represent an emotional barrier, which perhaps you are letting go of. But there is still need for defense against the unknown forces around you, those pains and confusions that you are dealing with, therefore the porcupine.

Something like that.

Thank you so much for your help and answers DS and Ra!
I can see the defenses being the link and theme here, like you said!!
The armadillos protection is always there, they hide behind it no matter what...but the porcupine has a choice, it can walk around with or without it's protective shield, it's defenses are a matter of choice based on intellect and instinct not a constant fear or perceived threat that might manifest or might not, like the armadillo.

I told my daughter about dream, she's 17, her comment was...."did you know in a fight an armadillo is easy to kill, it's protection becomes it weakness because it cannot remove it armor, once you flip it over it cannot recover.
But a porcupine, it's protection is it's choice, it's quills can pierce through an elephant, but it only uses its defenses when it feels threatened....I guess the armadillo was born into a world where it perceives everything is a threat to it's life, probably because it's not intelligent enough to perceive if there is danger or not so it needs a constant defense!"

I was thinking about that....perhaps my shift is that I'm starting to have the ability to see where there is danger and where there isn't, because of that I'm finding I'm allowing myself to let down guard or my constant armor.

This was one of the main things I miss about my dad n best friend they helped me see I could relax and didn't need to live in fear of everything all the time. I guess I'm just seeing my emotional anxiety as I try to accept I can trust myself to know when I can relax and when I need to protect myself.
Maybe this way I'll have a better defense, like the porcupine, once I'm relying on my intellect and instinct instead of the armadillo who just has a wall that blocks everything and doesn't allow him to adjust, see or learn anything...until he gets flipped over on his back or like me, gets blindsided and can't understand how it happened!
Now I'm seeing things as they come and can get out of harms way before I get hit! I've never been like that before, I guess my dreams are reflecting this change in me!
