The kid is 13 going on about 80 by now

I have no clue where my house key is; I know I have one somewhere! We don`t have a prob around here. Too many barking dogs, lurking llamas and ninja kitties I guess I was born & raised here and thats the first time I`ve ever had any trouble. Now, if I was him, I swear I would have confessed to stealing candy, a roll of toilet paper, anything except viewing porn Guess thats the dif between my Aqua & his Scorp.

His moms added (bike still a goner)punishment for the kid is one week of bible camp. He headed off today. We have a pretty cool relationship (he helps me on the farm) and when he gets back, hopefully, he can talk about the camp and we can work thru any dogma residue he may have been put thru. Wish him luck !!

Bible Camp, eh? Now I REALLY feel bad for him...poor kid... He's just exploring & experimenting as a kid in puberty does... and NOW he has to go to one of those psycho hardcore occult Christian camps

Eh, maybe it's not that bad...

Although breaking in is still NOT acceptable!

Ah, religion and guilt. Who'd a thunk they ever went together?

Might as well warn him about hairy palms and blindness.

Ya imagine!

I thought the 'bible camp trips, put the fear of God in you' was a thing of the past and we`d moved into the 21st century

... I`d better bone up on deprogramming techniques!!

What? Bible camp? Nope... never been

Yeah, let him hit that age bracket first.. I mean, if he's started this young... you just might have a nymph on your hands

Of course I'm only kidding.... (or am I?..hmmm) Thing is... once we find something that we're really into we pack it to extremes Yet, sex just happens to be one of them... and what's wrong with that?!

However, he didn't need to be coming in your house do that. That would make me a little mad... hate when someone nosies threw my things.

Do you do those Lexis Juni?! Now you have me curious as well

Gosh Juniperb. Where do you live? Just out of curiosity. You don't have to answer.

May be I am out there, or progressive. But this occurance would be a red-flag to me as a parent to have an open and clear discussion about sexuality, STDs, birth control, etc. I would enroll him into a sex ed class, gather information from various agencies, and clinics too. I would not want my child to be misinformed or have no clear sense of direction when it comes to their own body---physically and mentally. Even if he is a boy, I believe it is important for him to learn about female anatomy and what risks affect women in sexual behavior, such as PID, HIV infection, and Herpes---towards pregnancy.

Anyway. That's my take.

I too think the wrong attitudes towards approaching sex will be taught to this young lad at Bible Camp...

And him being a Scorp, he's just gonna reject them all out of spite and push himself even further to the opposite extreme...

I definitely agree with that sentiment Lost Leo.

I would not want him to rebel and put himself---and anyone else, in any harm using defiance. In fact, after all the clinical and physiological education first---I would even go so far as to give him several books, such as the Multi-Orgasmic Man, Taoist stuff, Nerve.com etc. to encourage positive sexual practice.

Proceed with respect.

That's so true. If someone tries to beat it in my head that it's wrong... especially something that's as natural as that... well, I'm going to do just the opposite!

Also, Aphrodite, you make excellent points... to me it seems if they are sending this boy to a church type of thing just because he was viewing porn, than he's going to get this really bad experience with it all before he even gets started.

I guess his parents think that by sending him to this place that they're going to throw a guilt trip on him for what he's done. It's going to back-fire... then they'll wonder why...

He's old enough to have an adult conversation with regarding sex and what it's all about and precautions to take. He's just in this puberity stage with all of these hormones hitting him.

In "my" opinion only... I'd be a little concerned if he wasn't curious about it.

Sending him to a "camp" is also just an easy-way-out for the parents.

The truly difficult path is sitting down face-to-face and having a candid discussion with your child about sexuality, physiology, STDs, & contraceptives...

But not too many parents can handle that...

For example, my mother & father... NEVER spoke to me about sex AT ALL... I learned all first-hand or from friends (the worst ways)

So my kid brother enters Junior High, pretty much where sexuality first starts surface amongst kids, and I was commenting to my mother how my he needs to be spoken with...

And she replied, "The less he knows about sex, the better"

Perfect point, in my Psych of Sex Behavior classes my Professor said that's the grave mistake all parents make, and it's the exact OPPOSITE of what you're supposed to do

So two years later, my brother and I have had 3 separate in-depth discussions, & many casual conversations in the meanwhile. I did everything my professor said, anatomy, STDs, contraception & risks, the actual "physical act" broken down step-by-step... and I added a couple things of my own to liven it up a bit, like slang term definitions, some of your basic techinques to use on a lady, and even parts of the Kama Sutra video series... as a 13-yr-old boy he's already looking at it in secret on the Net, so might as well show him some of the good stuff, to show I'm way comfortable with it too and its normal...
