Hey guys, I have a tradition coming up that's always fun! My boy's footy team have won every game this year and finals have just started. If we lose and get ousted from the finals we go on a weeks drinking binge and party hard. If you work that week, you miss out so nearly everyone has t'd up time off work. If we win the grand final, which is a high possibility, it will be about a months worth of partying!! I can't wait! Our club queen (my best mate) also looks set to win the queen quest (fundraising quest) and she is pumped for a huge party so

I will let you know how the boys go!! First qualifying final this weekend.

Now here's a holiday tradition

Todays News.......

Thousands Take Part in Spain Tomato Fight

TENS of thousands of people got pasted in eastern Spain on Wednesday in one of the country's most popular summer festivals - the annual tomato-throwing festival.

Participants pelted each other with overripe tomatoes, turning the streets of this eastern Spanish town into red, juicy pools in an annual festival known as La Tomatina.'

It is said to be the world's largest tomato battle. Last year, the crowd numbered around 38,000 - more than four times the population of Bunol, a town close to the coast.

Within minutes, the streets, the revellers and nearby buildings were splashed with red.

National radio reported that nearby residents protected their facades with plastic sheets. Others dumped buckets of water onto the participants from balconies overlooking the fight, RNE said.

The tomato fight in Bunol has become one of Spain's most popular summer festivals, often drawing people from as far as Japan and Australia.

The festival, held the last Wednesday of every August, started in the 1940s when children started throwing their lunch at each other one day in a downtown square, at a time when the region's tomato exports were starting to pick up.

They met again the following year, this time pelting passers-by as well and giving birth to the tradition.

Tomato fights....reminds me of the fun old days in boarding school, food fights in the dining room. Infrequent, but awesome!

Oh...Hmmm...I have a pair of 5" stiletto heels...love 'em loads, and want more!

5" stilletos?? I wish I could do that. Honestly, I've only started wearing pointy heels, but nothing higher than 2 1/2" yet. my 3" heels are thin but wide.

Cat, the tomato throwing sounds like fun (and a lot less dangerous than running with bulls).

Yes, but today I'm wearing little rubber flip flops!

The 5" heels are truly awesome, but as stilettos, at least this pair, they can only be worn on a date with someone whose arm you can hold on to for the evening...say, a dinner where you don't have to stand for long!

I love nasty shoes, just can't wear 'em every day. Sorry, Lost Leo.

Back to our regularly scheduled holiday chat...

I read in the "Oddly Enough" Section of online news...

That stiletto heel was used by a woman to kill her x-boyfriend outside a LA bar one night a few months ago...

Hi Sue,

Spain has some funky traditions. In addition to tomato throwing, there is also a town that releases raging, angry male bulls onto the streets. There was a teacher in my class this spring who went there, along with thousands of others for a chance to run alongside a bull on the street. He said there was a man who had a horn pierced through his forearm. Drunk people are policed out of the crowds before the crack of dawn, when everybody lines up. He said there were about 6 bulls released, and in different parts of town

Hi Amy
Spain do have some real traditions...
Running with the bulls is really very dangerous though I don't think they release as many bulls now as they used to do - which is a good thing. The tomato throwing day is attracting more and more people each year. I guess it's like a giant red "custard pie" fight...

Hi Oxychick
Rain...ewwww.....I want the heatwave back

Oxychick...did you have men following you around on their knees?

I love Halloween, can't wait! But I hate how homogonized it's become in some areas. There are schools that won't allow children to dress like witches or goblins anymore, such ridiculous fears. One school I know of doesn't even call it Halloween, they refer to it as some sort of Harvest celebration, and only allow children to dress as pilgrims, corn, vegetables, what they consider benign costumes.

THAT would have been soemthing. No knees, but some guys did beg to get whipped.

Not saying of course, that I obliged.

Uhh..

*scratches head*

Yeah, that stinks about how limited children are in some places. I think Halloween is a great time for kids to play on their creativity.

Hmmm. Leather. Something about the smell of leather on a man that's so sexy. Dunno why.

I like wearing high heels mainly because I'm a shorty, and it's fun to be taller sometimes. Plus, wearing high heels really seems to accentuate the figure somehow. Yup, they're like the cherry on top of a MMMMCHWAW (kissy noise) outfit. (or, a cherry on the bottom I guess)

Domanatrix...yeah, no doubt that would be a super fun Hallow's Eve get up!!

*makes mental note*
