Sure it's easy to send them to there death while the others sit in there white house and drink cocktails. They have family and friends back home who love them very much and are praying for their safe return. They're all volunteers and most of them would spit in your eye for attempting to frame the war in terms of killing babies. DUH like they didn't know. Funny how once I was watching the news where there were a bunch of people lined up to sign themselves up for the army. When asked how many were here to fight for there country about 3 raised there hands. When asked who was there for there education...everyone else raised there hand. Jwhop I know you love bush so much and he must love us all as well. Now tell me what president offers tax cuts only to the rich? Bush gave a tax cut to everyone who pays income taxes, in addition to giving earned income tax credits, EITC's to everyone who has minor children at home...whether they owed and paid income taxes or not. Bush also ended the estate tax...final in 2009 or so. I can well understand why you didn't get a tax cut. First, you would have needed to have a job to pay some tax in the first place. A soldier shaking hands with a child. A soldier carrying a small child (possibly injured though it's unclear just from this picture). The only sad picture I see is the one of the soldier kissing (or sniffing) an envelope, presumably from family or friends back home, and looking sad himself. I don't quite understand why these all pictures are supposed to be "so sad". Was this forwarded in an e-mail? I can't speak for anyone else here but I find it a little hard to forget what's going on with this war in my everyday life. I believe the "just like you and I" part may relate to the feelings of humanity expressed in the pictures, but I can't see how they are all sad pictures. The soldiers also aren't really being sent to their death. Prisoners in Hitler's concentration camps were sent to their deaths. Our soldiers are sent to do their jobs. Certainly, their jobs have a higher probability of death than most, but they are not being sent over there for the sole purpose of dying. And "the others" ... I know I'm not sitting in the white house drinking cocktails ... I don't know anyone who is in the white house drinking cocktails who does (or does not) support the war. I suppose the only "others" then are Pres. Bush and Co.? And even they seem to do a tad more than drink cocktails at the white house all the time. The only part of that passage that makes sense to me is the last part about having friends and family praying for their safe return. Yet, I'm sure that's not all their friends and families are praying for. So, I'm a little confused. Could someone please clarify (1) how this is all so sad and (2) how the first part of that passage is truly relevent and also how it's related to this sadness? I'm sure Atlantic Myst will futher explain her position. Actually, seeing those pictures makes me sort of happy. What a strong race we are! To hold fast to our essential humanity in the midst of such inhumanity is a good and hopeful thing. It reafirms my Faith in the Divine both within and without us. IP: Logged
