What you thought huh? Well I watched Clinton's news conference and also news anchors repeat what he said..pontificating that it very well could be true. Didn't have to actually be true you understand, something only needs to rise to the level that it could be true to get reported in the so called news.

Petron, Sorry, but I don't see how Rush would cause someone to kill a homeless person. That is right up there with "The Devil made me do it" or "Rap music made me rape her". In any case, we do agree that these kids are sick. Off topic... What is going on with the "edited by Randall"?

well does it rank right up there with this 1? quote: Must be the fluoridated water supply.--jwhop
i think my theory is more plausible...... jwhop if youre saying you saw clinton name limbaugh then i guess i'll just have to take your word for it..... back during the waco siege there was a lot of rhetoric from limbaugh about "clinton establishing a communist state.....by taking away all our rights and guns!!"---i dont have a link for that either but then clinton resolved the standoff in the most rearward senseless way.....and even rush turned it up a notch..... ********** Extra!, July/August 1995 Talk Radio on Oklahoma City: Don't Look at Us By Jim Naureckas "Talk radio was ahead of the pack because it's tied into the people," Michael Harrison of the National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts (NARTSH) told John Tierney of the New York Times (4/30/95). "The mainstream press is out of touch.... That's why it didn't see the Waco connection right away." According to Harrison, who edits the talk radio publication Talkers, while mainstream media were blaming the deaths in Oklahoma City on Arab terrorists, nearly as many talk radio callers were citing the Branch Davidian debacle as the probable motivation for the bombing. As evidence for this claim, Tierney cited Harrison's "sampling of talk shows that was conducted the day after the bombing"--although when contacted by Extra!, neither Tierney nor Harrison could provide any documentation for this survey. We were interested in Harrison's evidence, because it seemed to us that most of talk radio in the days immediately after the blast was even more reckless and extreme than TV journalists in its rush to blame Muslims. "You know why these Middle Eastern terrorists chose Oklahoma City?" one Chicago host asked the day after the bombing (cited in the Chicago Sun-Times, 4/24/95). "Because it's in the heartland of America, and if they can strike there, they can strike anywhere." "What are we going to do with these towelheads?" demanded Boston’s Howie Carr (WRKO, 4/20/95). He referred to imaginary suspects as "heaten savages" from "Towelhead Nation." One talk show host, Bob Grant of New York's WABC, even spoke of killing a guest who suggested that we shouldn't rush to judgment in blaming Muslims. "What I'd like to do is put you against the wall with the rest of them, and mow you down with them," Grant responded (4/20/95). Such rhetoric seems to vindicate President Bill Clinton's charge that there are "purveyors of hate and division" on U.S. airwaves who "leave the impression, by their very words, that violence is acceptable." Clinton was roundly condemned by right-wing talk radio hosts and their allies for "politicizing" the Oklahoma City bombing, but his basic point is undeniable: There is much speech on the radio today that advocates or justifies violence. These broadcasters range from race-baiters like Grant to militia advocates like Chuck Baker who have called for an "armed revolution." (Extra!, 3-4/95) They include Ray Appleton, a host on KMJ in California's San Joaquin Valley, who's promoted a bumper sticker reading, "Lee Harvey Oswald: Where are you now that we really need (L.A. Times, 4/28/95) At times, even Rush Limbaugh has flirted with such rhetoric: "The second violent American revolution is just about--I got my fingers about a quarter of an inch apart--is just about that far away," he was quoted in the Washington Post (4/25/95). "Because these people are sick and tired of a bunch of bureaucrats in Washington driving in to town and telling them what they can and can't do with their land." The most notorious practitioner of hate radio today is G. Gordon Liddy, whose instructions about shooting federal agents in the head seemed to epitomize the kind of speech Clinton condemned. Liddy, a convicted Watergate felon who is heard on some 250 stations, likes to give the impression that he speaks for an armed movement that is ready to use its extensive weaponry against government forces. Liddy's newsletter (Liddy Letter, 10/94), for example, claims that "veterans of the Phoenix program in Vietnam and other Special Warfare experienced personnel" are "advocating proactively hunting down and killing rogue BATF agents." He refers to such would-be assassins as "citizen patriots." Talkshow hosts strenuously rejected the idea that they might bear some responsibility when members of their audience take such inflammatory rhetoric seriously. Limbaugh wrote a full-page column on the Oklahoma City bombing for Newsweek (5/8/95) headlined, "Why I'm Not to Blame." "Those who make excuses for rioters and looters in Los Angeles now seek to blame people who played no role whatsoever in this tragedy," Limbaugh wrote--a strange complaint from someone who devoted a chapter in his book See, I Told You So to arguing that "Dan Quayle Was Right" to blame the L.A. riots on Murphy Brown. It wasn't just Limbaugh that rallied to the defense of violence-preaching talkshow hosts--less than a month after the bombing, the national board of NARTSH voted to give its "Freedom of Speech" award to Liddy. The award, which is supposed to go to "the individual who best embodies and boldly defends those freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment," has previously gone to Salman Rushdie, CNN's Peter Arnett and columnist Jack Anderson. Ironically, Liddy has admitted that, as an aide to President Richard Nixon, he started to plan an assassination of Jack Anderson, who had written columns critical of Nixon. "The rationale was to come up with a method of silencing you through killing you," Liddy told Anderson on the CNBC program The Real Story (6/13/91). Liddy's efforts were aborted by higher-ups at the White House. Normally, someone who plots to kill those he disagrees with is not regarded as a defender of the First Amendment. But the publicity given to Liddy's bizarre remarks spells high ratings for talkshows--and for NARTSH, that's always worth defending. http://www.fair.org/extra/9507/ok-talk-radio.html IP: Logged |

Well, since you listen to your friend Limbaugh every day, and you haven't had the urge to kill a homeless person, you haven't have you, I guess we can eliminate Limbaugh as a causative agent of this crime.Since you brought up your friend Commander Corruption and by extension, his sidekick Janet Reno, it should be remembered that Clinton deliberately provoked a confrontation with the Branch Davidians...had to show off his new found pair...or should we say Janet's pair. David Koresh went into town frequently and could have been served the federal warrant then, without incident..away from the women and children Janet Reno caused to be incinerated...to save them, of course, just as she said. Well Petron, I ran across this while looking for that Clinton quote. You friend Clinton has already condemned your constant whining about America. Since that happened in 1995, Clinton must have anticipated you.Imagine that, Clinton telling all the whiners to "love it or leave it". "For the first time in memory, Clinton drops his I-feel-for-you whine. His righteous anger reflects Mussolini-like vitality rather than his usual wan, comforting equivocations. Flying high in the polls, Clinton invokes a hostile "love it or leave it" refrain when Diane Sawyer informs him citizens are concerned about Waco. Later, in a speech at Michigan University, Clinton throttles non-establishment views of history as the "peddling of paranoia," a sowing of distrust in the benevolent institutions known as federal government. "You have the right to say what you please in this country," explains Clinton, "but that doesn't give people the right to tear down this country." http://www.altpr.org/apr7/oklahoma.html Hey Pid, I'm with you. Rap is corrosive. IP: Logged |

The terror threat at home, often overlooked As the media focus on international terror, a Texan pleads guilty to possessing a weapon of mass destruction. By Kris Axtman | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor from the December 29, 2003 edition HOUSTON – It began as a misdelivered envelope and developed into the most extensive domestic terrorism investigation since the Oklahoma City bombing. Last month, an east Texas man pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Inside the home and storage facilities of William Krar, investigators found a sodium-cyanide bomb capable of killing thousands, more than a hundred explosives, half a million rounds of ammunition, dozens of illegal weapons, and a mound of white-supremacist and antigovernment literature. Levitas estimates that there are approximately 25,000 right-wing extremist members and activists and some 250,000 sympathizers. The Southern Poverty Law Center counted 708 hate groups in 2002 Featherston speculates that the Krar case got little attention because the arrests were made just after the war began in Iraq. "Excuse me, a chemical weapon was found in the home state of George Bush," says Levitas. "I'm not saying the Justice Department deliberately decided to downplay the story because they thought it might be embarrassing to the US government if weapons of mass destruction were found in America before they were found in Iraq. But I am saying it was a mistake not to give this higher profile." http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/1229/p02s01-usju.html whats with these 2 posts down there .... editing? lol IP: Logged |

Clinton was talking about people ripping his ass for the Branch Davidian fiasco and the killing of women and children. Further, there was anger across a broad spectrum of the population that military equipment was used against American citizens...i.e., tanks. And Clinton was talking directly about people like you Petron. People who are forever ripping America..first, last and always. Imagine being ripped by your favorite President..Bill Clinton.Bush on the other hand doesn't listen to a word you leftists say. When you've heard one leftist rant, you've heard them all. America sucks pretty much sums up your position. Well now, we just know that group has direct ties to George Bush, now don't we. Hell W is probably their leader. There Petron, I've given you something to spin into another one of your conspiracies. IP: Logged |

My God, jwhop, that's an awful thing to say about the leader of our country! I mean, really, here is a man whose job it is to represent all Americans. You don't truly believe he would be so arrogant and close-minded as to ignore an entire segment of the population, do you? And here I am innocently hoping President Bush calmly and patiently keeps his ears open to the opinions and ideas of all the members of his flock. Here I am naively assuming President Bush believes in the essential brotherhood of all Americans. Here I am trustingly presuming President Bush is a proponent of the ole' we're-all-in-this-together philosophy, as all good leaders should be. Very surprised to hear that sort of America bashing from you. Not feeling well tonight? IP: Logged |

Exactly why should Bush listen to the left? They've been dead wrong about everything they've said so far.Sorry, you just don't seem to get it. Bush was elected and reelected and with a larger majority Republican Congress. Leftist democrats don't call the shots, all they can do is obstruct and why should Bush or anyone else listen to obstructionists? Especially, why should Bush listen to racist leftists who filibuster racial minorities and women appointees to the federal judiciary? Haven't we all been drilled that democrats are the protectors of minorities and women? Hypocrites and liars, who even wants to deal with such people? Noting the title of this thread. quote: OK, Jwhop, what's in the drinking water down there?

Let's see, you listen to Limbaugh and listen to Liddy. Well, you're more familiar with both of them than I.Fortunately, I installed a water filtration system so I've never had the urge to kill a homeless person. I guess the rehash of Watergate drove the story off the news because I haven't heard a word about it since the initial story. IP: Logged |

Gordon Liddy: listening to Hitler "made me feel a strength inside I had never known before" Radio host and former Nixon administration official G. Gordon Liddy discussed environmentalism; how Adolf Hitler inspired Liddy in his youth; the Vietnam War; child-rearing; Watergate; and his 1994 advice to his listeners to shoot agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in an interview with columnist Johann Hari, published November 22 in the British newspaper The Independent. According to Hari, Liddy called environmentalists "fanatics" like Al Qaeda, claimed that the "official version of Watergate is as wrong as a Flat Earth Society pamphlet," and said that if U.S. policy during the Vietnam War was up to him he would have "drowned half the country and starved the other half." Man's family insulted by late death notice By DEBORAH CIRCELLI Staff Writer Last update: June 03, 2005 DAYTONA BEACH -- Donnie Roberts was watching the news when he heard the homeless man who had been beaten and killed was 53 years old. But the Volusia County Sheriff's Office was not releasing his name.
He called out to one of his brothers in the other room that the man was the same age as their youngest brother, Michael E. Roberts, who was homeless. The family had a gut feeling it was "Mikey," who had grown up in Holly Hill with seven siblings. But it wasn't until two days later that Donnie Roberts, 54, and other family members found out it was true. Donnie Roberts said friends called him at work after news reports Tuesday said his brother was dead. His mother, who lives in Dunnellon, also found out from the TV. He couldn't understand why law enforcement personnel had not come to his house on 15th Street in Holly Hill after identifying Michael's body early Sunday afternoon. Michael had occasionally stayed at his brother's house and that address was listed on numerous Holly Hill arrest reports on Michael. Volusia County's Justice Information System also gives that address repeatedly throughout Michael's arrest record. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office had told the public since Sunday night they were withholding the identity of the homeless person until family could be notified. But it wasn't until Tuesday morning when another brother's wife called the Sheriff's Office and gave a description that the Sheriff's Office confirmed the news they had been dreading for days. "We're insulted. We shouldn't have found out on TV two days later," said Donnie Roberts, who tried getting answers from law enforcement Monday. "They should have knocked on my door. We were born and raised right here (in Holly Hill)." Gary Davidson, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, said investigators were still conducting research Monday after an autopsy Sunday identified Michael Roberts through his fingerprints. "Could we have found local next of kin information and made notification on Monday rather than Tuesday, it's certainly possible," Davidson said. "We were doing the best we could with the information we had to work with at the time." Michael Roberts' body was found Saturday afternoon. He had been kicked, punched and struck repeatedly with sticks. Jeffery Spurgeon,18; Christopher Scamahorn, 14; and Justin Stearns, 18, have been arrested. Stearns made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon. He is held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Donnie Roberts said the family wondered Sunday and Monday if their brother was dead. He said when his mother saw on TV that the man was 53, her heart stopped. She knew it had to be him, he said. Donnie Roberts said he even went to the Holly Hill Police Department Monday morning where they were familiar with him and Michael, considering Michael had numerous trespass and open container violations as recent as May 11. He said he was assured the body was not his brother's. The Holly Hill Police Department could not confirm who may have spoken to Donnie Roberts on Monday. Cmdr. Mark Barker said his agency would have referred questions to the Sheriff's Office, the lead on the case. Davidson said it is unfortunate when family members learn of a death of a loved one from news reports. He said Michael Roberts had a big family and he does not know how fast the information may have spread. Richard Roberts, 56, of Daytona Beach, whose wife called the Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, said he is not upset. He said he understands it was a holiday weekend and things take time, especially considering Michael had been so badly beaten. Despite the delay in getting the news, both brothers say they are pleased with how fast the Sheriff's Office has investigated and now arrested three people. The family is planning to have Michael cremated and his remains will be buried next to his father in Georgia in July, when they have a family reunion. Michael Roberts, who enjoyed hunting deer and fishing, according to his family, had been homeless since about 2000. A cabinetmaker, the small-framed man had an alcohol problem. Donnie Roberts would often hear his youngest brother at night come into the garage where he sometimes slept and by morning he was gone. As far as the suspects involved in their brother's death, Donnie and Richard say they hope justice will be served. "They've ruined their life and everybody else's life involved," Richard Roberts said. "I want them to hear that jail door close every night of their life." deborah.circelli@news-jrnl.com http://www.news-journalonline.com/NewsJournalOnline/News/Headlines/03NewsHEAD02060305.htm IP: Logged |
