those turbulent times , i had a fianancial crisis and again me being the sentimental cancerian , had some pretty tough times including family matters . things that ,i think i have told to just a few friends of mine ( cancers normally are quite good and fond of keeping family secrets ) but , now when i see back ( though things are yet to get normal , it all started around '97 ) now , i think it was a god's way to teach and harden me for the best things in life ( thats why , i told i am gonna beat bill ,one day ) so no regrets ! yeah, some hard feelings ,yet . but then i am cancerian and ii can't forgo everything ,right! oh, and i am sure back on my track . i told you somewhere this is the best phase attitude wise . i am busy with the madness and i am loving it . punjabi new year , its actaully called "baishaki" . this day in punjab is celebrated with usual fairs and all . just before the day , we celebrate " lohri" in which a bonfire is made , then ladies and gents move around in circles around it throwing popcorn and sugar candies ( not the usual candies that we get to see ) . its more auspicious for newly wed woman and new mothers .

The 4 major elements...air, fire, water and earth do create....hmmm how does fire do that though? I guess it can destroy in order for new things to be created?A friend of mine is studying Eastern religions in school...she's Sikh by the way and told me her professor said Hindus believe in one God, but in many forms...is this true? My Hindu friends from school each have their own interpretations of what Hinduism means to them and they practiced it in different ways. One of my Hindu friends is also a Punjabi The other one was Gujrati, and I had a Tamil friend too. So how does deepawali rejuvenate you? No appologies needed for the late replies....hope you dont mind I reply late too. Also what were you doing in Rajasthan? IP: Logged |

Aries Asc, and Taurus moon with a Cancer sun sounds like a good combination. Two of my sisters, the Virgo and Scorpio have Taurus moons, and they seem very stable emotionally. Yup I've got a Gemini Asc...but my Jupiter isn't in Cancer. Surprisingly it's in Leo, retrograde...so that's why it went back to Cancer the year you were born in. Hahaha i bet there was never a dull moment in that flat You know that's true Cancers never forget their friends. Im awful with keeping in touch regularly, but my Cancer friend always keeps track of me...I'd probably be pretty isolated if she didn't. Alright how about a chocolate cake then You know I really want to try this Indian innovation myself! How do you do it??? My Jupiter in the 4th is similar to Jupiter in Cancer. My Jupiter is actually conjunct IC as well. I highly value my family, home and heritage. And it also makes me very optimistic too...like a deep and secret level of confidence no matter how bad things get. What house is your Jupiter in? I was wondering when you might have gone through those turbulent times you were talking about...Saturn was in Cancer last, so I thought that maybe 2002 to 2005 would have been a challenge? That's how I see tough times as well...something to teach and prepare you for other things to come in life. If you forget about the hard feelings...that could diminish some of the drive....so hard feelings could be a good thing. What's the significance of lohri? I remember when my Gujrati Hindu friend got married, they had to circle around a fire too. The whole thing was conducted in Sanscrit I think...reading from the Veda? I cant remember she got married 5-6 years ago. There was the mehndi, the actual marriage ceremony in a tent in her backyard where the fire was, and then the huge reception where everyone was invited. i think , it all started around '97 . 02 was challange . life is tough even now . but i am enjoying it at the moment , i dont know about tomorrow , actaully too busy with my plans for tomorrow that i dont have the time to worry . even worries rejuvenate me and thats what i really love about myself.and thats what , i use to make people fall in love with me . am trying the same tactics with the crab gal lohri, i told you , is celebrated on the punjabi new year . sorry , a day before the punjabi new year . the new year begins with baisakhi . baisakh in hindi means spring .
circling around the fire is a hindu tradition . we hindus take fire as the purifire thats why its there in all the rituals be it cremation or the marriage or a simple worship .
and yes ,we hindus believe god is one . for this you need to understnd a bit about the history of the indian subcontinent . let me how much do you know about it . IP: Logged |

I don't think I can wait till Im fifty to try that cake...by that time I'll either forget about it, or the pressure cooker will become obsolete/unnecessary, or I'll have figured it out myself . I know I have to visit Pakistan right before I get married to do some major wedding shopping. So hopefully before I turn 50 My Jupiter is in 4th house Leo, but conjunct IC and thus opposite Midheaven. Good for you that you're enjoying life at the moment. When is your bday? Are you trying to pick up a crab girl off of LL? How would a crab and an archer couple work?? And what signs do you think you're most compatible with? One of my crab cousins is married to a Gemini, and my crab gf was with a sag. I think they've just split though My crab guy friend from school was going out with an Aqua for a few years. Never seen a couple fight so much in public. IP: Logged |

ok, this is the one about fire (agni in hindi) fire is considerd to be the purifier , thats why we craemate as hindus believe in reincarnation . sdo you get purified before a new birth . btw, read on the explanation.Agni is one of the most important of the Vedic gods. He is the god of fire, the messenger of the gods, the acceptor of sacrifice. Agni is in everyone's hearth; he is the vital spark of life, and so a part of him is in all living things; he is the fire which consumes food in peoples' stomachs, as well as the fire which consumes the offerings to the gods. He is the fire of the sun, in the lightening bolt, and in the smoke column which holds up the heavens. The stars are sparks from his flame. He was so important to the ancient Indians that 200 hymns in the Rig Veda are addressed to him, and eight of its ten books begin with praises dedicated to him. Agni is closely associated with Indra, and is sometimes said to be his twin brother. Thus Dyaus Pita and Prthivi are named as two of his parents. But he has many more. Sometimes Kasyapa and Aditi are his parents; another time he is the son of a queen who keeps his birth secret from her king. He was born, like Indra, in full power and vigor. Agni is also said to be the son of ten mothers who are all sisters; these are the ten fingers of man. Another story tells that he consumed his parents when he was born, as they could not provide for him; this is symbolic of the fire born when two sticks are rubbed together which quickly are burned up by it. Dawn and Night are his sisters, his wife is Svaha, and he is the father of Karttikeya. When Agni is described in anthropomorphic form, he sometimes has two faces which are smeared with butter. He has seven fiery tongues and sharpened, golden teeth. He is red in color, with black eyes and wild, black hair. He has seven arms and three legs, and seven rays of light emanate from his body. He either rides on a ram, or on a chariot, pulled by goats or sometimes parrots. Agni loves all his worshipers equally, and so is loved in turn by all of them. He visits everyone's hearth, no matter if they are rich or poor. He is the mediator between the gods and mankind. He is a great consumer of Soma. When people use fire, they must face it toward the proper direction for different uses. When facing East, the fire should be used for sacrifices to the gods; when facing South, the fire should be used for sacrifices to the Manes or spirits of the dead; a cooking fire should always face toward the West. The proper offering to Agni, and hence all the gods, is ghee, which is clarified butter. Agni also had the power to impart immortality on mortals, as well as remove all sins at the time of one's death. In later times, Agni's worship fell off dramatically. He became an incarnation of either Shiva or Brahma. Eventually he has come only to be called on by lovers, and by men who wish to increase their virility. i think there are lot of information that might seem irrelevant . actually , hinduism is more of a way of life rather than just being a religion reason being hinduism came out of the most ancient civilisation where the concept of religion was not known rather people started with nature worship more of their inner insecurities and incompetencies which later metamorpheed into a religion , the way i told you about sikhism and i think thats the way it happens with all religion .
what would you say about islam? IP: Logged |

Neat! Thanks for sharing. I think in urdu fire is aagh (right?) Not sure what fire represents in Islam. But Muslims don't cremate. When someone dies it is the responsibility of family members to clean and groom their deceased loved one for burial. There are prayers before and while the entire body of the deceased is buried in tact. We believe that the body doesn't belong to us, like everything else on Earth but are gifts from God that have been given to us. So we try to preserve what God has given us in its form. Im not sure about Reincarnation in Islam. There is the concept of Karma, and also Heaven and Hell but no one can say that is for eternity. There are different levels of Heaven/Rewards and Hell/Punishment. Of course we believe the soul doesn't die. The body may but the soul is still there. More on fire...We believe jinn are made from the smoke of fire. There are good and bad jinns depending on the will of the jinn, just like humans. Humans though are made of earth, clay or the minerals of earth. Jinn are mostly not apparent to the human eye but some can take on human life form and live here on earth. There is another being God created...angels which are made of noor, or light. And dont have a will like jinns and humans do. They can't do wrong, and can only follow God's orders. We don't believe humans are born with sin. But everyone is born with a clean slate. However, people may be born inclined towards different things, good and bad. The will of the person, with the help of God's will can overcome any negative inclination. No one else can atone another person's sins. That is a personal thing between that individual and God. There is no medium between them that does that. I know Sikh's cremate their deceased as well. My brother's friend had to smear ghee on his father to light him on fire. Also speaking of fire, have you watched deepa metha's film, fire? It was interesting...the way women have been treated in some (many?) south asian households. Neglected, made into servants for their husband and their family...subhuman almost. (This happens in south asian homes, regardless of religion...it's just backwards tradition, I think). In the Hindu household, Meetha highlighted that if a woman's husband dies before her it is expected of the woman and her duty to throw herself in the fire with her husband!? From your description of fire, she doesnt really do complete justice to the many other Hindu beliefs of what fire represents. IP: Logged |

ok, so i am back (but without a bang) sorry for being soooooooooo late . yeah , in urdu fire is "aag " if you see the similarity , islam says "the body doesn't belong to us " , we say and creamate bcos we believe its a gift from the five elements , so we return it back . soul is only one that never dies and i think thats the same concept in islam ,right?
we believe , you have to go through some 8.4 million life forms before you become a human ( that in other words mean , i could have been a donkey in my last life ) but the soul is always the same .
quote: We don't believe humans are born with sin. But everyone is born with a clean slate. However, people may be born inclined towards different things, good and bad
Oh , liked the concept ! thats the basis for my liberal views . i plan to read " KORAN " one day . oh yeah , i saw fire . and yeah ,i understand your concern . {QUOTE]In the Hindu household, Meetha highlighted that if a woman's husband dies before her it is expected of the woman and her duty to throw herself in the fire with her husband!? [/QUOTE]
thats the system of "sati" ( it has a mythological behind it too , will tell someday) though it was banned way back in 1850's . a few cases ( i mean one or two ) have happened in the last decade too . but i dont remember any such sequence in the movie ( you must have read of it ) have you other movies made by her . did you see " rang de basanti" try it if you haven't . you will love it . quote: From your description of fire, she doesnt really do complete justice to the many other Hindu beliefs of what fire represents.

Hey cancerrg, where you been for so long? Whoa I didnt realize how many life forms you go through to become human!?!? 8.4 million? Why that many? Ive only watched fire in the series...there's Earth and now Water that I still have to watch. I havent seen rang de basanti...will look for it though. What's it about? (just dont give away too much of the story though...I like surprises ) Oh what I meant by that quote was that she used fire as her title, yet only focused on one aspect of what it represents when in fact it symbolizes many things...that's all I meant. Do I make sense? IP: Logged |

hy day ! just been a bit busy , nothing else .we through 'vedas' believe that there are that many life forms ,so we go through all these life forms , unless we come clean of all our sins , then you move over from this cylce of rebirths ( and karma ) and ultimately get united to the almighty . thats the basic concept behind reincarnation . ok ok, i am not telling you anything about "rang de basanti" but iam sure you love all the characters including that of alice patten ( she is the daughter of the last governer of hongkong)
yes, you do make sense , but what do you expect in 1.5 hour movie . do I make sense ? and yeah pid, i'll try giving your answer , just give me sometime and plz , its cancerrg not cancergg or cancerig . so just write "rg" .

Hey cancerrg, It's obvious you've been busy...are you getting married or something I've never read directly from a veda before...only read it from secondary sources in school. What veda, chapter and verses refer to reincarnations? Hmmm...I looked up a little brief description of Rang de Basanti, sounds good. It's a new release, 2006. Why do you think I'll love all the characters, including alice patten? I havent watched any good movies lately, so unfortunately I couldnt recommend any good movies to you in return. Got the long weekend to look forward to so I may look for the movie you suggested this weekend if Im in Toronto. IP: Logged |

Hey cancerrg, I'll have a look at your chart later on. What I noticed so far is that your Moon is exactly conjunct my Chiron, and square the transting Chiron in Aquarius right now. I have a Cancer friend with Sun conjunct Jupiter as well...and she's mostly a very happy person. She has an incredible ability to bounce back after something breaking down or falling apart in her life. IP: Logged |

so what does that conjunct mean in practice , is that the reason we get along . infact , i always used to think , aqua women were tough to get along with . you have opened up my eyes , now they are on the top list ,literally . oh, and that bouncing back ability , i know i have that , i told you so . thats definitely one thing that i love about myself . and yeah , i am happy person too especially when i compare myself with people . though earlier i used to think , i was miserable but now i know i am not , its just that i speak up anything thats in my mind , others dont , thats the only diff . and do the reading before my b'day ,ok , that would be accepted as a gift straight from canada
